I read this book awhile ago and now my dd who is 14 wants to read it but I can't remember if it is appropriate for her to read. Does anyone remember if its to "risky" for a 14 yr old?

There is premarital sex, but I don't remember how descriptive it was. I don't ever recall Nicholas Sparks' books being gratuitous. I also don't recall any really bad language.

It was a really good book, I would probably let my 14 year old read it..but he's a boy so I don't have to worry about that.

I actually just finished reading it again for about the 3rd time. There's nothing in it any worse than some Judy Blume books, so I would say go for it. :goodvibes:

We used to use some Judy Blume books for "dirty reading" at slumber parties! I'm a child of the late 70's -- such a different time, eh?

Is this book going to make me cry buckets? I saw the movie trailer recently and just seeing the trailer made me sad. How's the book with juggling of the army stuff and the other stuff? Should my sappy heart try to get through this book?

If I remember correctly, Yes, it might. But it was very good. I read it recently though and EVERYTHING makes me cry buckets lately.

Yes it was!! I was coming up at the same time..by the time I had any "interest" in reading books like Tiger Eyes i was old enough to be reading them, and after that my mom pretty much gave me free reign on my reading. Honestly though, I can't think of any book I would not let my dd read once she hits 13 or so, nowadays by that age they all know waaaaay too much anyway!

I read it when it first came out in late 2006 and I cried really hard.
