Boo to You...and Food & Wine Too! - October 26 to November 2, 2012 Updated Post #282

Bret - have a great trip. That is wonderful news that your DB changed his mind and will be going with you all. At least there is someone of your age to hang out with. And whilst you might need to be patient with the elders, at least they'll be travelling at a pace where you will have lots of time to take pictures. That's a lot of events that you're getting bookings and tickets for now....looks like it will be a fun-packed trip. :thumbsup2

Thank you PiO. I was kind of surprise at first when I heard from my DB that he changed his mind and will come with us. The only reason he was willing to come is for his GF V where she hasn't been to WDW. But after hearing about her mom have been diagnose with colon cancer, she decided to take care of her. I also heard from my DB yesterday that she had successful surgery. So that was a relieved that it went well. But my DB didn't want to waste the airline ticket and he could use another vacation after everything has been going so far. Even though he is 6 years younger than me, he is someone that I like to do things with. I did realize awhile ago going with elders that it will be a slow pace and also I could use that opportunity to get pictures of the route that we are walking on like I do with my other trips. This is a lot of events that my uncle and I have planned on. We can't wait to do all these different events during the trip. But I am still looking forward to the Food and Wine Festival as well as MNSSHP.

Bret - I just came across your PTR. I will be there almost the same days you will. Our travel dates are 10/27 - 11/3. It sounds like you have a really fun trip planned!!

Hi Megan,

Nice to see you came across my PTR. Your dates are almost exactly as mine and hope that you and your family have a great time.

Thank you

I cant believe this trip is beginning in 2 days! It seems like it's been in the works for a while. Where has the time gone? And then not long after you're home from WDW, you're back to DLR! I'm exhausted just thinking about it all.

(Oh, to be young again and have all that energy!)

Anyway, the itinerary looks great and I'm so glad your DB is going along. I know that his being there will be good for you.

I also can't believe that the trip is already here. Just seems like a few months ago in July that we talked about this trip and it is a reality. Time goes by really quickly. I didn't expect to go back to WDW this year and was considering going back next year to see the new Fantasyland at the MK. Just about two weeks after I get back, it will be time to head on back to DLR for the Holiday season which we are looking forward to the most. I will be looking forward to hear from you about the Holiday season at DCA.

The itinerary looks good as well as for my DB to come along with us. I was surprised that he was willing to come while his GF mom as colon cancer. But he didn't want to waste the airline ticket and he could use another vacation.

I think it's great that your DB is going to accompany you on your trip. Will he go to the MNSSHP with you too then?

Your trip is just days away!

Got here safely on Orlando. The weather is cloudy, but not yet raining. I will upstate you later from Orlando.

Hopefully it will be a short shower. Have fun and stay dry if possible.

Stay dry!

Thank you PiO. It did rain when we got the car and now it is nice outside. It rained when we got there then about an hour later it stopped when we had dinner.

Hopefully it will be a short shower. Have fun and stay dry if possible.

It didn't rain too much later tonight. Now it is nice.

We checked in our room at the Sheraton Vistana Resort and here are some pictures from today.

We had Vietnam food tonight at a restaurant called "Lac Viet Bistro" The restaurant was up north or Orlando and no where near WDW. It took quite awhile to get to that restaurant.

I will have more from this trip another day.

Your dinner looks good. The room is very nice. Get some good rest so you are raring to go tomorrow!

The Pho soup looks like it could have tasted fantastic. And is that a deep fried fish? WOW!

Your room at the SV looks fantastic. Looks like you're in for a very comfortable stay. :goodvibes

Stay dry and I hope that Frankenstorm Sandy keeps clear of you.

I finnally made it over here! The Pho looked spectacular and the room looks great! I hope you all have great time! I look forward to hearing about your trip and especially PFTS! Have a great time!

I can see why you and your DA like staying at the SV - it looks very welcoming, spacious and comfortable. The kitchen is a good size. There's tons of floor space. It's really like a little apartment or house, from what I can tell. That's better than being cramped in a small hotel room. You have everything you need right there in the room.

As much as people say that staying onsite is almost necessary when visiting WDW, more often these days I am hearing about people who rented houses or stayed offsite and got much more space for a much better price than what they would have gotten by staying at a WDW hotel. One person just mentioned renting a 4-bedroom house with a pool for a WDW trip, and ended up saving money on it (compared to WDW hotel prices).

I love the "Just arriving in Orlando" photo - the sun peeking through the clouds is very dramatic!

Thank you Usnuz. The Vietnam food was nice yesterday, but some of my relatives didn't think that it was that great. They wanted to eat Vietnamese food that day and it was nice. I got to go to EPCOT this morning and it was really busy today. I will tell you what happen later on this post. At least it didn't rain today, but it was really cloudy all day today.

The Pho soup was good last night. My DB mention that I should try this soup last night with beef in it. That was a deep fried fish from last night. I believed they told us that was a tilapia.

The Sheraton Vistana room was really nice. The one that I stayed in last year was different. But the one that I stayed in 2010 look the same. They were different buildings.

I did stayed dried all day today which it was only cloudy.

Nice to see you here Alison. The Pho was very nice last night. It was a bummer at first when it rained, but since than it is just cloudy. I will be heading on back to EPCOT for the Party for the Senses event tonight and I will get as much pictures as I can.

Don't forget my DB who is also with us during this trip. He decided at the last second to come so he wouldn't waste the airline ticket. These last few trips of staying at the Sheraton Vistana Resort is great where there is a lot of space where you don't have too much with a single room. We also been spending some time coming back from the parks and resting after a long morning/afternoon. Right now I am resting up until we head on back to EPCOT for the Party for the Senses event during the Food and Wine Festival.

It has been a long time since I have stayed on-site at WDW since 2001 at the Contemporary. I do miss staying at the Contemporary, but with these rented houses for the week, it does make a lot of sense so you can save money and more space to go around a rented house over a hotel room. My family and I will be staying at timeshares if we come back to WDW. There are benefits of staying on-site, but I would rather save that money and come back in the future just like I do with my DL trips of where I stay off-site instead on staying at the DLR hotels.

Glad you like the arriving from Orlando photo. Mostly I have my camera in my traveling bag, but I do like using my new iPhone 5 where I can upload the pictures fast instead of uploading them from the iPad or computer.

For a quick recap of today at EPCOT. All of us went to EPCOT when the park opened at 9am today at Future World. While I had elders with me, we got a ECV and a wheelchair for my uncle and aunt since it will be difficult for them to walk around EPCOT. Also we got them a GAC for them. We haven't used it yet since all the rides in the morning were walk-on and we might need it for them if they have some problems going on the rides. We got to go on a lot of rides today which was Mission Space, Seas with Nemo and Friends, Soarin, Living with the Land and Journey into Imagination. Most of my group like Soarin the most as well as Living with the Land.

When World Showcase opened at 11am, we went around World Showcase to try the food stands during the Food and Wine Festival. But to my surprise that most of the lines at the food stands were quite long. Some of those lines were at least 10 to 20 minute wait time. The only stand we went was at the Canada stand. We had the Canadian Cheddar Cheese Soup and Chicken Chipotle Sausage. I had the soup and it was just like the one that I had at Le Cellier restaurant last year. It was worth the $4 that I have spend which was a small sample.

Later that day, my uncle surprised us with reservation at the Rose and Crown restaurant at the United Kingdom Pavilion. So we had lunch that day at the Rose and Crown which had great Fish and Chips.

We just roamed around World Showcase looking at all the different stands of what to eat. But just like all the stands around World Showcase which had long lines. I didn't thought the queues for the F&WF stands would be this crowded. But we will plan on going to some of these stands later on during the trip.

Now we are back at the room resting up until my party leaves to EPCOT for the Party for the Senses.

Hi Bret,
Your room looks very nice and spacious! How far from WDW is it? Your N&F pictures were great :thumbsup2 Did you just hold really steady with your camera?

Looking forward to more from the F&W festival. Is your DB joining you at the MNSSHP?

Thanks for sharing your adventures!

Thank you PiO. Glad that the pics from TSwN&F turned out well. Some were blurry, but most of them turned out well.

Hi TK

The Sheraton Vistana Resort is 5 minutes away from WDW. It is just across from Highway 4. I really like staying at the SV Resort since it is close to WDW and the resort is great. Glad that you enjoy the pictures from TSwN&F. I do kept my hands steady during the ride which is hard.

I uploaded most of the pictures from EPCOT from last night. I only ate at the Canada stand since I was really busy yesterday. Most of the queues at the stands during the F&WF were long. I will try to eat at some of these stands the next time we go to EPCOT during this trip.

My DB will be joining me during MNSSHP on Tuesday. Plus my aunt will be joining us as well.

Thank you TK.

I'm at DHS waiting for a show and I will talk to you later today.

DHS is my favorite park! Looking forward to hearing how your day goes! :goodvibes

I do remember TK that you like DHS a lot especially with Star Wars Weekend at DHS. I thought about going on TSMM that day but the wait time was at least over an hour and the FP just went by quickly as usual. Even though I want to go through the queue of TSMM which is different than DCA, I am not willing to wait that long just to go on a ride that is the same as DCA.

Enjoy your time there Bret.

Thank you PiO.

A little recap from tonight where we were at DHS this morning from 9am to 1pm. We did quite a number of rides and shows that day. Mostly it was shows today where we went on the Great Movie ride as our only ride. We watched Voyage of the Little Mermaid, One Man's Dream, Muppet Vision 3D and Indiana Jones Stunt Show for just four hours in the park which was nice.

Later today we went back to DHS and saw the 7:30pm show of F!. Since we had wheelchairs for the elders, we only had to wait about 45 minutes until the first show of F! started. Mostly I get there very early so we can get a good spot but with the elders and in the handicapped spot it was shorter than I thought. The show was full about 15 minutes until the show started which was not surprising to me.

When we finished watching F!, we head on out of the park and there were a lot of people in the queue for the 2nd show of F! which was all the way down towards the stores on Sunset Blvd.

We head on over to the Boardwalk to have dinner at Big River restaurant. We were there to have a snack since we wanted to eat late tonight.

That's my day at DHS today and we will be heading on over to Cape Canaveral to go to the Kennedy Space Center and do some other activities on the east side of Florida.

I forgot to update yesterday from "Party for the Senses". This was a great experience to try a lot of different food from great chefs at WDW and from other restaurants around the US. This is just a quick update since I don't have much time in Orlando since I want to use most of my time wisely. We had to find a table since we didn't ordered the reserved tables or Wine View Lounge during PftS. But I will give you pictures from the event yesterday and talk about some of the dishes that I have tried. I also got to meet Chef Robert Irvine at the PftS which I was so happy to meet. He is a very nice guy and encouraging to be around.

Here are some pictures from Party for the Senses from last night.
