Boo to You...and Food & Wine Too! - October 26 to November 2, 2012 Updated Post #282

WOW looking back at my pics I went to MNSSHP in 2007. How time flies! As I recall I decided once I got to my conference outside of WDW the lure of the parks was WAY too much for me to resist. I had not even brought a camera with me. Well, a short trip to Best Buy for my waterproof/drop proof Olympus point and shoot and off I went to the October 8 MNSSHP. (My excuse for the less than stellar pictures especially at night.)

At the transportation and ticket center:

Fun signs greeted us:

After waiting for people to get out of my picture I decided at least this family had festive pumpkin ears and took this one:

Very different than what greets you at DL:

Next up: My hijacking of Bret's pre-TR continues with Boo to You parade pics...

I staked out my spot in Liberty Square quite early and my friends joined me before the parade started.

Bret - I'm hoping with your camera and tripod you are able to get a really good picture of this. I wish I had had a video recorder. The headless horseman comes before the parade. Everything is quiet (no piped in music) and you hear the clap of his hooves. WAY COOL. Many people weren't even expecting it. I'm telling you he canters along the route - no walking for the HH!

WOW that was a bad picture....A few of my favorite parade moments.

The characters all had their Halloween costumes on!

The haunted mansion float was just great. These dancers were my second favorite part of the parade (the Headless Horseman's ride was #1)

Should I admit I still can sing along with "This is Halloween, this is Halloween..."?

Who doesn't love a parade with dancing grave diggers in it??

I took a ton more pics but these were the highlights for me.

Around the Kingdom:

I didn't go to the 'dance parties' but I really loved the Hallowishes Fireworks and enjoyed the villains show in front of the castle.

We stayed until Midnight and were tired but happy when we went back to our hotel. This is on our way out.

Next up ... F&W ... just a couple I promise ;)

I was able to get away for a long afternoon to go to EPCOT and tease myself with way too few hours to enjoy this event. I would have liked to have three days!

Can you tell this was the year Ratatouille was released?

Well I hope you all enjoyed a little blast from my past.... It was fun looking back. Now back to Bret. Can't wait to see both these events through you!

Wow - Boo to You looks 100 times cooler than our little piddly Cavalcade at the MHP! Why, oh why, can't DLR put on a full-blown Halloween parade like WDW's parade instead of skimping and giving us the "mini-parade"? That Headless Horseman sounds amazing!

I love the decorations at WDW too. There are some things that I can see I kind of prefer at DLR, but the WDW decorations do not disappoint!

Bret, I'm so glad for you that you decided on a 10/30 MNSSHP! It looks like you have a lot to look forward to at both the MNSSHP and the Food & Wine Festival!

TK, your pics are amazing! The map is especially interesting as we've never done MNSSHP either and I'm stumped between planning for that and F&W.

Bret, we're doing the party on 10/18. Hope it's as awesome as it looks!

Bret you won't regret going to the MNSSHP, the parade, fireworks and plain people watching are so much fun. Not to mention being a kid and Trick or Treating.:thumbsup2

Thank you TK for posting your pictures of MNSSHP in 2007. The decorations in front of MS station looks completely different then DL MS during MHP. I am really now looking forward to MNSSHP that I am now forgetting about the Food & Wine Festival at EPCOT and as the tour guide for my uncle's and aunt.

Great photo of Spaceship Earth and the F&W Festival signs. You are correct TK that 2007 was the year of the Pixar film Ratatouille was release.

I agree with you Sherry 100% about Mickey's Boo-to-You Halloween Parade which is way way better then Mickey's Costume Party Cavalcade at DL during MHP. DL needs to have a parade not a cavalcade during MHP.

Thank you Sherry. I am looking forward to to MNSSHP and the F&W Festival at EPCOT. I also go to remind myself why I am coming on this trip and to be a good guide for my group. At least I can have one time at night for myself by going to MNSSHP.

I hope that you and your family have a great time during MNSSHP on the 18th and maybe you can do a quick report about the party before my trip.

Thank you Angela. I won't regret it one bit of going to MNSSHP. It would have been nice if my DB and his GF are with me during the party, but I can enjoy the party by myself.

I ordered my ticket for MNSSHP on the 30th. Now it's official, since I got my ticket for the 30th and will be looking forward to MNSSHP. I talked to my DB and he hasn't give me an answer so I am just going to purchase my ticket without them. Hopefully they will decide later on if they want to go that night.

Bret I'm glad you have your ticket for the party! Now I hope the parade is as nice as 5 years ago. ;) I think your DB and his GF would enjoy the party too if they went but you will have plenty to do without them. I would have to say more than half of the party goers were not in costume.

I'm glad you enjoyed the pictures. Such happy memories.

TK

Safe driving tomorrow Bret. Have a great time and I'm looking forward to your TR.

(That's another quarter for the WDW savings funds, Usnuz!!! You must have a whole stack saved up now from all that page turning. :))

Love the map that shows the parade route! And also good to know Hall-O-Wishes starts at 9:30 buys me a few more minutes to get to a decent spot :cloud9:
Our dates are 10/28-11/2

CHEERS! :flower3:

A little late to respond since I was concentrating on my DL TR.

Thank you TK. After showing me those pics of MNSSHP in 2007, it made my decision an easy one that I might not be able to do it again in the future. So I should take advantage of seeing it during the Halloween season. I'm trying of not watching the parade and fireworks so I can be amazed. I talked to them during the trip and they are leaning towards getting MNSSHP tickets on the 30th while I am going. I was excited to hear from them that they will go to the party with me on that day. I don't plan on wearing a costume which I also didn't wear one during MHP in 2010.

Thank you for taking the time to look for those pictures.

Thank you PiO. You already know that I had a great time at DL and hope you like the pictures with the new lens and filter.

Nice to hear that your dates are almost similar to my dates. Hope you and your family have a great time.

Bret - The new lens and filter are just tools....it's about the photographer. Your photography skills have always been great; the new lens and filter will only enhance it. :flower3:

I just had to comment because PrincessInOz said - more or less - what I've been saying all along, in general. In fact, I think I've said it you in the past, too, Bret.

Taking a good picture mostly comes from 'up here' (I am pointing to my head!). It's all about imagination, creativity and simply having a good eye for what might make an interesting shot, while knowing how to crop/compose/frame it to get the effect you want. That is probably at least 50% of what makes a good photo, if not 75%. The camera is simply the instrument that helps execute one's vision and bring one's idea to life.

It also helps to really love the subject you're taking photos of, whether it's a beautiful field out on the middle of nowhere, a vibrant sunset or a Disney theme park! Whatever the subject is, that love comes across in photos, wouldn't you say? When looking at your photos, there's no denying that you love Disneyland and Disney World. It's very apparent.

I would venture to say that there are probably plenty of ambitious people who spend lots and lots of money on DSLR's and all of the costly accessories...but cannot take a decent photo to save their lives because they just don't have that 'eye' for it like others do. Likewise, there are lots and lots and lots of fantastic pictures that I've seen floating around that were taken with Point & Shoot cameras!

So, as PiO said, it's about the photographer (and how they make their camera work for them)!

You are absolutely right PiO. Even with the new lens and filter, its all about the photographer by taking the pictures. With a DSLR, point & shoot, etc. it is all about the photographer of how to take the picture. Thank you for the confidence.

You did say the same thing in the past Sherry that is is about the photographer.

You are right that it does come from the mind, imagination, creativity and a good eye of what might make a shot very interesting. Sometimes I do crop/compose/frame for my pictures, but I just go straight up with what I got which is enough for me.

That is one of the most important things about taking pictures is the things that we like to do. Since I like going to the DL and WDW, I can just keep taking pictures of the littlest things to the biggest things.

There are people who do spend so much money on DSLR equipment which they do for a living. Even with expensive equipment, it all depends on the photographer to get the picture.

Thank you Sherry and PiO.

Just found out last night that my DB and his GF bought tickets to MNSSHP on the 30th which is the same day that I am attending during my trip. I was glad to hear that my DB and his GF decided to go to the party. Now I will be at the party with other members of my party that night as I was about to go solo. I told them that I might do things on my own and they can do whatever they want to do. I do plan on seeing Happy HalloWishes fireworks, Boo-to-You Halloween parade and Disney Villains Mix & Mingle. There is still a lot of planning to do these next two months. I still haven't got any sit down restaurants yet, but it's highly likely that we will do a walk up during our upcoming trip.
