Hello all....we just returned Monday from a week on the Magic and 3 days in the World.....I saw signs for the Bonnet Creek Resort Construction area.....is this a new resort that will be opening in the near future? I have not heard anything about this before....Anyone have any info?
Thanks....Tom

This is a timeshare resort that is not on Disney property (but is surrounded by Disney property). Disney has nothing to do with it.

Search on these boards for additional information.

Check out the DVC board. Webmaster Doc took some photos and has some info about it. Fairfield is building a resort at the complex that will supposedly have several different resorts located there.

It's a timeshare resort run by the Fairfield Copr that has nothing to do with WDW. How Disney allowed another company to buy a bunch of land in the middle of their property I will NEVER know!

That land was bought by a Chinese investor in 1962, before Walt ever set eyes on Bay Lake. Allegedly that investor was Chiang Kai Shek (former president of Taiwan and the man who lost China to the communists). Anyway, Walt either couldn't get him to sell or couldn't agree on a price, but was later quoted as saying he had bought all the land he would need for his WDW project.

BTW, technically that land is only bordered on 3 sides by WDW, the other boundary is the I-4.

I really hope this area doesn't spoil the golf course areas over there. One of best parts of the two courses is that they are AWAY from all the hustle and bustle of the parks and hotels and traffic.

The area of the Bonnet Creek Resort is between the Caribbean Beach Resort and Typhoon Lagoon. It's not located near any of Disney's golf courses.

beastlyprince is correct, technically Bonnet Creek is just a waterway. On the north end of the property this is the "river" that borders the 18th hole on Osprey Ridge. On the south side of the property it eventually borders this underdeveloped land (only part of which is the non-DVC Fairfield timeshares) and eventually runs along the east border of the town Celebration. The waterway actually begins from Bay Lake.

I bet the WDW types already regret naming the clubhouse for Osprey Ridge and Eagle Pines "Bonnet Creek Golf Club" for all the confusion it will cause.

BTW, it was (and still might be) under consideration to build another DVC resort right next to the Eagle Pines golf course. All the effort went into the Saratoga Springs DVC at the old Disney Institute.

I agree that putting a DVC by Eagle Pines would be a major mistake for the resort AND especially the golf course as that's what most people don't like about playing the LBV course... Oh well.
