Greetings all!

So, I am doing my first Disney Cruise in a couple weeks, and I'm really looking to get some Bonine and wrist bands before I get onboard.

Unfortunately, I'm currently living in a country where they don't sell either one - does anyone know if they are available onboard (I will be on the Magic?).

If not, do they sell them at the port before boarding (Barcelona)?

Thanks!!!

Meclizine can be bought as a generic or under various brand names -Antivert, Dramamine, Bonine, Verticalm, and Rugby. It may be found under a different brand name in your country.

I believe the sea sick meds they sell may make you drowsy (unlike Bonine). See what the active ingredients are in Bonine and see if you can find a store brand with the same ingredients.

They sell Dramamine onboard and sea bands at an inflated price. They have Bonine on Amazon.com

Next to the medical center, they have a bin of Meclizine (which is what Bonine is). Each pack has two tablets, though they ask you to limit yourself to one pack. But if you, like me, somehow miscounted your Bonine before getting on board, it can certainly add two pills to your supply!

anricat is right. Free at the medical center, but in our case, they were happy to let us take at least one pack per person. We didn't have to as I had brought some with me.

Before my trip, I was surprised to find it hard to find Bonine in stores anymore. Not even the drugstores I went to had it. (If you get Dramamine, it must be Dramimine II, to get the same non-drowsy medicine that is in Bonine.) So I ended up buying off of Amazon. I don't know if that is an option in the country you live in, and I realize that buying even over-the-counter meds on the Internet doesn't make sense to everyone, I can only share my experience. We bought 2, 16-packs of Bonine from Amazon. They arrived quickly. They were is normal, sealed boxes, and looked just like the ones I used to buy in stores. I took one every day (starting with the plane flight) and I as glad I did.

This is from another post I did a while back:

Bonine's clinical name is meclizine - it appears to be unavailable in the UK. However, Promethazine hcl is available in the UK (with a prescription - LLoyds seems to have it, not sure about Boots). Here, it's known as Phenergan. It works. Very well. You'll have to take it at night though, because it's more potent than knockout-drops! But, should you need it, I can promise you will not get sick. I've used it for years - most of the time, I only need a 1/2 dose. Meclizine is good, but not nearly as potent.

When you get to the airport in the USA you can buy your Bonine there. I get motion sickness. But never on a cruise. Been on 19 cruises. Remember you are on a floating city. I take the Bonine with me just in case but most times I don't use it. If the seas are going to be bad I take one just to be safe. Never had a problem on a cruise. Once again I get motion sickness easily but never on a cruise.

Appreciate all the answers - I'm actually already overseas so won't be in the US or a US airport/store to get any meds before I have to get on the ship. Also in a developing country, so unfortunately Amazon isn't an option (or, more accurately, it can take a few months to get an Amazon package - if it arrives at all) and very few meds are available here - most of the ones that are are pretty ineffective unfortunately.

Looks like I might be stuck with the overpriced ones on the ship :) !

Thanks, everyone!

The ship has meclizine (same active ingredient as Bonine) in two-packs for FREE. You can get it from medical center or from guest services. NOTE: the one time we tried it it contained aspartame, which is an issue for some people (I couldn't take it because of that), so if that is an issue for you be sure to check the ingredients.

Will you be staying at a hotel the night before your cruise ? If so, you have some options depending on where you are staying. Turner Drugs (http://www.turnerdrug.com/otcordering.html) delivers at least to WDW area hotels for a nominal delivery fee. They have meclizine (generic), Dramamine Less Drowsey, and Bonine. They also have Sea Bands. Walgreens online would be another option, you could order and have it shipped to your hotel inadvance of you arriving.
