If we go there for dinner can I order a cuban sandwhich if it's not listed on the dinner menu?

Not sure if that would be possible. Last time we were there though, my husband was able to get a sandwich at the walk up window right outside of the restaurant where they sell cafe Cubano (espresso). However, if you're looking for authentic Cuban cuisine, I wouldn't really recommend Bongos. My husband is Cuban and I'm Puerto Rican and we were pretty disappointed in the sandwich. We haven't tried other menu items although the reviews I've read are generally poor. My SIL had dinner there last December and said it was just ok.

I haven't had a good cuban sandwich in years! Actually the last good one I had was at the Renaissance hotel near Sea World, it was late, we ordered from room service, it was awesome! Everytime I go to a restaurant that offers it on the menu, they are never very good.

Leah, if you ever get a chance to drive down to Miami you have to go to Versailles in Little Havana. They serve great Cuban food.

Thanks for the info! Maybe my dh and I can take a trip down there and check it out!

Actually Leah, I'm originally from Aurora. I have to tell you that in Schaumburg there is a Bahama Breeze. They have an awesome Cuban sandwich there. If you decide not to try Bongos, check out Bahama Breeze when you get home.

I'm not Cuban, but if you want authentic, definitely skip Bongo's. We were very disappointed with the food inside also.
