Bombshell Obama Pastor Video

Obama responds:

Thank you Barack.

Where did you get that from, Tim?? Was it a written statement?? He should go on the weekend talk shows such as MTP and repeat those statements. That would have much greater impact in my opinion.

Obama is being interviewed tonight to discuss this issue by Major Garrett, and it will be aired during both H&C and On The Record.

It was just posted on Obama's website. I agree he should be talking about this in person but I would imagine he wanted to get a statement out there and then he'll be doing interviews all weekend (I would imagine).

ETA: Just saw you post about the interview.

Did someone say to read the books that Obama wrote to see what he believes? Are you kidding? Use precious time when I can get it all with 2 minute cherry picked sound bites from when the Senator wasn't even in the Church to hear what was said.... Nah, easier to see the sound bites...

If it makes it easier for some, he does have his books on tape and I bet you could even get them from the library... you wouldn't even have to spend money to buy them.

I think he'll address the issue during interviews, too, but if he really expects anyone to put weight on the statement, he'd better cut all ties with this man.

I think his statement was pretty good, especially considering how damaging this has potentially become. Like I said in my first post, he had my vote (and I'm a Republican), but this has definitely caused me to waver in that decision.

All I know is that IRL all of the people I know that are saying Obama's wife or preacher are making racist comments & that is why they wouldn't vote for him are full of it! They wouldn't vote for him anyway because he is black.
I listened to what the preacher was saying & I don't think anything was too offensive.
I also wasn't offended by the comment his wife made about not having been proud of her country before.
Honestly if my children had never seen a white president in their history books I would probably feel the same way.
My first grader was in the kitchen the other day & there was a newspaper w/ McCain & Obama on the front. I asked him who he thought was going to be the next president..he pointed to McCain. Now Obama was smiling & McCain was not & I thought Obabma looked much more friendly so I asked him why he picked McCain. He said he just looks like a president. Now my son has an awesome teacher who is black, a principal who is black, friends of all different skin color & a cousin who is black, so he was just referring to his knowledge of presidents.
I hope that one day soon school children around the country can have another image of our leader besides an old white man, be it a black man, a woman,...who knows?:thumbsup2

I'm more than ready for a Black president. Just not THIS Black president. I believe Barbara Jordan would have been a fine president, but a Black woman didn't stand a snowball's chance in Hades in her day...or any woman, for that matter.

If Michelle Obama has never before been proud to be an American, then she is an ingrate. :headache: I'd say America has been pretty good to her and her family. I grew up never seeing a female president, female astronaut or female executive, but that didn't cause a lack of pride in America. If someone cannot be proud to be an American simply because someone of their race, sex, religion, ethnicity, etc. has never been president then that says to me that all they really care about IS race, sex, religion, ethnicity, etc. That is their focus, their main concern.

And that gets us back to that nutcase preacher. After listening to several of his sermons in which he blames The Man for all of the Black Man's ills, I want to barf. His sermons are full of racism, hate and anger.....Just as a church should be. NOT! And they are targeted at Whites. There is a not only a Black pride message there, there is an anti-White message. And that is quite a distinction. One is positive, one is negative, and you can certainly have Black pride without White hate.

Why does this matter, so many of you keep asking? Why should we care what his minister says? How will that affect him as POTUS? Here's how: This is a man who takes his religion very, very seriously. He has made that plain and clear. If he gave mere lip service to it as many do, it probably wouldn't matter. But it is a big part of WHO HE IS and WHAT HE IS. He chose this church knowing what this pastor was like, what his positions were and he chose to stay there 20 years. He proudly identifies his as his spiritual advisor. That is a person you turn to for guidance. He relies on this person. He doesn't hide that at all. In 20 years, he had to hear this crap many times. It's clearly available and not hidden. Yet he stayed and financially supported this church. He put his money where his heart was. Had he found the racist, hate-filled, angry rantings of this whack job objectionable, let alone intolerable, he would have walked away years ago and found another church. But he did not. That tells me he agrees with it, whether he is saying the words out loud or not. And that ingrate wife of his has made her attitude clear by her snarky comments.

I don't care what he SAYS. I can say I'm a 6 foot tall supermodel, but that doesn't make it so. Geez, people....It's not as if a politician has never lied through his teeth to get elected before. He stuck by this man for 20 years and relied on him for help in matters of faith....a faith that is an essential part of him. It has formed his morals and ethics. He roosted with one nasty chicken and he liked it.

If I had been in a church that started badmouthing Blacks and spewing hate the way his pastor did, I'd have walked out right then and there. Forget staying 20 years! I did that once when the minister went off on alcoholics, because he was being too pious for my taste.

The fact that he selected this church and remained a faithful member for 20 years, using this man as his spiritual guide, tells me what is in his heart of hearts and it ain't pretty. He may come across like Opie, but Sheriff Andy was NOT his role model, was he?

There is a definite double standard at work here. If HC or JMc went to a church for 20 years and its minister spouted the kind of racist hate-filled filth against BLACKS that this guy does against WHITES, they would be dead politically. And they would deserve it, IMHO. Obama should be held to the same standard. Racism is racism. Hate is hate.

Obama says he didn't here this crap many times. Do you have some information that says otherwise?

I'm sure you're not genuinely attempting to encourage people to read his books with such patronizing remarks.

Yes Obama has of course denounced the pastor's statements.

However, the NYTimes is reporting that the pastor told them last year that Obama told him that he may have to distance himself from the pastor in the future for political reasons.

That tells me that Obama knew about the pastor's despicable statements and is only distancing himself to save his campaign. I am sorry but that is not good enough.

I think his response SOUNDS good but the truth of the matter is he & his family have supported this church, this pastor for twenty years. TWENTY YEARS is a long, long time to listen to that kind of anger & hate.

It does concern me greatly to think that he agrees with or at least tolerates this kind of message. Again, it wasn't like he went to church there for a few years and realized it wasn't exactly the message that fit in with his view of the world.

I think it will take more than a message that he now denounces the Rev. to make me 'believe' in him again.

Just as I thought. "In 20 years of his preaching, I never, ever heard him go off like this. Honest. I promise. It's news to me. And if indeed someone has video of me at church during one of these services, I had a severe ear infection that rendered me unable to hear his sermon. So did Michelle. Seriously. He always preached racial harmony when I was around and never said a word against The Man....Oops, I mean Whites....Caucasians.....non-Blacks. I deplore his beliefs, which were apparently obvious to everyone but me and Michelle and I swear I deplored them before I started my campaign for POTUS......I mean, I if I had known about them when I began my campaign....but I didn't. Pinky swear." :rolleyes1

Obama says he wasn't hearing that kind of anger and hate for 20 years. Got any information that says he did?

O . M . G .

***sigh***

That is a great post.

Indeed.

Thats what I would believe as well.

Well, that's all well and good, but a book is a finely crafted piece of work that gives the writer 100% control of a persona they want to reveal to the reader.

Obama says he didn't hear this crap many times. Do you have some information that says otherwise?

Well, from my understanding, the church makes the videos available for purchase, so my guess is, if he was, someone will come out to show it. IMO, if that doesn't happen, I think we can take it to the bank that he was telling the truth.
