My DW are headed to WDW in March, and decided to get the QSDP. With that said, we're taking our $200 gift card and indulging in one table service meal. Basically, we're looking for a thoroughly Disney dining experience for two adults, something we can't experience back home in NE. We're not the richest or fanciest kind of people, so some of the fancier restaurants make us a little uncomfortable and out of place.

With that said, we've got it narrowed down to Boma and 'Ohana. Which is better?

You sound like me! I do not have the most refined palate.

In 2007 I enjoyed Ohana much more than Boma. DH, the opposite.

Because of the on-going construction at AKL, the "atmosphere" outside of Boma may not be as great as AKL can be at other times.

On the flip side, Boma is all you can eat & self paced while Ohana is paced by the servers & it is difficult to get 2nds of something you may like.

Either way -- both restaurants were noisy but great experiences. Maybe let ADR times decide for you

We went to Boma and Ohana last week and loved them both. This is a tough call!
One thing that could help you decide -
Are you a big meat eater? I ask b/c Ohana is like a brazilian steakhouse in a way...they bring you portions of chicken, pork, beef and shrimp

At Boma they have meat but a lot of the menu is meatless like the couscous, some of the soups, salads and sides.

For delicious flavors that you absolutely cannot get at home, I vote for Boma. For a really fun (and a bit loud) dining experience with some great food, I vote for Ohana.

We've enjoyed them both.

The atmosphere of AKL (and getting to tour it) gave Boma an edge over 'Ohana for us. I also liked how we could get up and try so many different things. We really enjoyed the meal here.

Now, we're not big meat eaters, so we really surprised our 'Ohana server by asking for seconds on salad and sides, but telling him "just a tiny piece" for the meat. But we still really loved the meal, and the dessert -- bread pudding with bananas foster sauce and ice cream -- is our favorite dessert at any restaurant at WDW (and we dont generally care for bread pudding) -- and we did have 2nds on that!:)

We're planning to go back to both in April -- we can't choose between them!:rotfl: I hope you have a good time at whichever one you choose!:)

I'm going with Boma, hands down. O'hana's meat was dry and not that greatwhen we ate there. They've gotten rid of the scalloped potatoes which I would have gone back for. About the only thing worth it for me is the banana bread pudding and the wings but it's not worth me going back for.

Sure, Boma is a bit more exotic but while it may look really weird and adventurous, the food really isn't all that different. It's really, really good. I swear I could eat that bobotie by the platefull.

Without a doubt Boma. I am not a buffet fan under most normal circumstances, but Boma is really an amazing place to eat. The food is so varied and offers such a great selection.

Great, thanks for all of your advice. I think I'm gonna call today and make my ADR for Boma. Keep your fingers crossed!

Boma is a better breakfast and Ohana is a better dinner

Boma is good for Breakfast or Dinner. If you have to pick one I go with dinner.

For dinner Ohana is our favorite. Infact this visit we may go twice. We went to Boma our last visit as well as our usual, Ohana. Boma wasn't for us. Some people love it. We couldn't find much we liked. It was just too different for us. I was glad we went to try it.

We thought that the food at Ohana last year was bleh but we haven't had a chance to try Boma yet. You might want to check on using that GC at a restaraunt because I think I read somewhere that is only good at the gift shops in WDW.
