sunnyday123 - good for you for finally giving in and learning to eat like an adult. It certainly opens up a world of possibilities when travelling, socializing, and making healthy choices. Obviously I did not use the right tactics, as I tried to bring him around. It didn't help that his own father was only marginally better. I have read recently that this can be genetic, but I prefer many of the non-scientific terms I have applied over the years.
At this stage in life, I just take comfort in the fact that the same, uhhh, "determination" has kept him from ever smoking a cigarette, or developing any desire for alcohol. While I often think it would be really nice to enjoy a glass of wine together, I ALWAYS have a designated driver when I find myself in the position of drinking for two! And he's good-natured enough to help friends get home safely, as well.
JennyDrake, I know it is going to be an extravagance for him to eat at Boma, but if he is willing to hunt down enough to make a meal and be pleasant company, I am going to pay for that dinner with a smile on mine. Luckily, I have a bit more time before the cancellation window closes, and we will talk about it. If he shows reluctance, he can get take-out some evening and relax in front of the resort tv while those of us who love new dining experiences dive into the boboti and zebra domes.
I appreciate the comments, too, about the menus being dumbed down. Sadly, it isn't just WDW, but a North American trend. You have to look hard and have good advice when searching for ethnic and local specialties. I still shudder to think what Pillsbury did to the croissant! My dream is to travel to other parts of the world, savouring regional cuisine and culture. Guess who will be staying home on THAT trip..![]()
My FIL is somewhat picky...not quite that picky, but pretty picky. He had a hard time at Boma. The rest of us liked it.
However, if we were to go with my ILs again, I would only book Boma if we were staying at AKL. I, personally, would not book it if we had to travel from another resort or if it was our first night meal as a family.
