Boma or Ragland Road

We really enjoyed both of these restaurants. The dancing at RR was great! My daughter really enjoyed it, but I think that if I had to choose, I would chose Boma. The atmosphere is just so nice, and you can walk around the lodge and see the animals afterwards. You can't go wrong with either one- plenty of food and great places!

We have eaten at both, but we love Raglan Road. We love the AKL but didn't really enjoy Boma. I would suggest Jiko too. We will be eating there again because we loved it so much on our last trip. RR is some place we will probably visit a couple of times this trip too, love the dancing and the band.

Speaking strictly for myself, I love both restaurants! :thumbsup2 I have to say RR wins by a slight margin for me though, just because I much prefer a sit-down meal to a buffet. For the rest of my family, they thought Boma was ok, but my husband and daughter weren't fans of the spice (cinnamon?) added to most of the meats which give them kind of a sweet taste. It was surprising to me at first, but I didn't mind it. I've got ADR's at both restaurants for my upcoming trip with my DSis, and I'll likely be posting a DR when I return if you want to check it out. If everyone in your party is adventurous and enjoy trying new things, you'll probably love Boma but if you'd get a kick out of a sit-down meal and entertainment provided by a talented band and dancers, go for RR! Either way, I think you'll have a great time. :goodvibes

Okay, having eaten at both places on our trip this past June, this is my recommendation:

Both places are good, but they're very different. The most important consideration, I think, is how adventurous are your eaters? If you don't have adventurous eaters, then I think you should scrap Boma entirely. I was downright livid on our last trip when NOBODY in my group would try ANY of the African dishes on the buffet. NOT A SINGLE THING! My husband usually likes to try new things, but even he wouldn't give anything a chance. Not a single nibble! They ate the American-style fried chicken, mac and cheese, etc., and refused to touch ABSOLUTELY NONE of the African dishes. I could've stayed back at our resort and eaten at Cape May buffet, saving myself the long trip over to AK! And it's not like I didn't give them a chance to choose something else before we left. I specifically asked them all about Boma and whether they'd like to try the African food, and they were all game until we got there. VERY irritating.

If you have ANY doubts about whether your party would be willing to try something different, then go to Raglan Road instead.

On arrival night, I would do Raglan Road. It is a favorite, but there are other considerations.
You will already be dealing with arrival, checking in at condo, driving to DTD. Why not just stay at DTD for dinner? Travel days are tiring and you have a big day the next day if you're doing MNSSHP.
So, stay at DTD for the evening, get back to the hotel early and make ressie for Breakfast at Boma on another day.
We really aren't fans of buffets, but Boma's breakfast is a fave.
We go there on a day that we're going to a water park and aren't in a huge hurry to get to the parks.
