Staying in POFQ, but want to visit AKL for one TS meal with DW and DD2. Would you recommend Boma or Jiko?

They are both wonderful and very different from each other. One thing that might help answer your question is do you prefer buffets or preplated TS? Jiko is definitely more "fancy" than Boma. I don't think this makes the food better though, just different. I love both, but if I had to choose just one for us it would be Boma. Hope this helps.

hands down I would chose JIKO. I don't find it to be one of the best in Disney but it is leaps and bounds better than the cafeteria style of BOMA. We went there in Jan and were displeased with most everything. We are not picky eaters and try most everything but found most the food to be very bland and the service rushed. The decor was nice but I felt as if we were in a HS cafeteria. Just my two cents...but I believe JIKO has much better food, service, and a descent wine selection.

I've been to both and prefer Boma. I like all the variety of choices you get at Boma. Boma is a must do on each trip. Jiko was ok, but not spectacular. The menu was not as exotic as I expected. I don't plan on going back.

We've also been to both.

As other posters have mentioned. Boma is a buffet, while Jiko is table service / plated food.

Having said that we've enjoyed both places immensely.

I would question you on how well your 2 yo will be able to "wait" at Jikos for food to be prepared. At Boma, you can sit down and immediately start getting food.

Some 2 yo can deal with wiating for food to be delivered very well, while others can't.

Jikos also is more up scale and I think they are looking for the "business casual" attire also, where Boma is more relaxed.

Let us know what your choice is! I am sure you'll enjoy either.

I have dined at both. I find BOMA to be fantastic for breakfast, above-average for dinner as far as WDW buffets go.

Jiko is more formal and your wee ones may get a tad antsy.

You cannot see the animals from either establishments but a post-dinner stroll is quite delightful and you definitely get a feel for the hotel!

I was looking forward to JIKO but was unfortunately very disappointed with the restaurant but I seem to be in the minority. I have dined at most 'upscale' WDW restaurants and from my experience, I would rate Jiko far below Flying Fish, California Grill and Artist Point. Our dishes were hit or miss: the Kenyan Coffee Barbecued Chicken Flatbread was great while the Tamales and Halibut were dry.

I've been to both, and Boma is one of my favorites, I liked Jiko, but not nearly as much as Boma. Plus, it would probably be better with a two year old. It is a buffet, so you can try as much as you want. I thought the soups were to die for, and the desserts outstanding, (I actually thought the desserts at Jiko were dissapointing,) and well worth the $25 price tag.

Been to both. Both were disappointing. I'm not a buffet fan and find buffets difficult with small kids. Boma is a good buffet, but it doesn't live up to the hype it gets here.

I suspect my Jiko experience was the exception, colored by a waiter who wasn't very good (brought the wrong food out, never asked if we wanted a refill on beverages, and wasn't personable) and ordering food that was a poor choice for my own taste. But I won't hurry back (my husband will - the steak was the best he has had at Disney).

However, the lodge is worth a visit, and if you need a tableservice meal to justify it - it depends on if you want a casual buffet, or a expensive dining experience.
