Trying really hard to convince my husband that we should do Boma for dinner....right now we had picked whispering canyon cafe but I am thinking Boma might be a nice change of pace...

I know there are a lot of Boma fans out there....what do you love about it (specific foods, etc)?

Pics are also appreciated....

I really liked the variety. There were several good soups and I am not usually a soup person, but there was this wonderful mushroom one.......

Of the meats, I most enjoyed a salmon that was crusted with pistachios. Not something I'd ever have thought of myself. The salmon was moist and the nuts just gave a little crunch with no spice at all. IIRC there were beef, chicken, salmon, and pork options on the buffet all at the same time.

I really liked a rice side dish that had some little bits of nuts, veggies, and raisins in it; again, nothing I'd have thought of making myself but it tasted good.

And if all else fails, there's always the dessert table. Lots of regular/basic choices but also some very different ones. Zebra domes are great; chocolate with a bit of alcohol added.

Is DH concerned that the food will be too "spicy" or "unusual"? Or too boring and bland? Does he like salads? Carnivore or vegan?

He loves meat def carnivore ha!!

I think he is just concerned he wont like it or wont be able to find anything to eat there...

We are very adventurous eaters and we love to eat things we have never tried before. Boma offers that opportunity. There are a lot of dishes there I have never seen or tasted. The soup station is very impressive and there's a great assortment of salads too (I'm not much of a meat eater).

We did take some friends once who are not very adventurous and they did not care for it. It's a lot of money to spend for an adult to eat from the children's.

Boma was one of the best meals we had last trip. We are meat eaters and found lots of great things on the buffet. I can't remember the exact dishes but the salmon and a chicken dish were our favorites. The service was excellent. Well worth our dining plan credit. Try to book early. It was very crowded after 6pm while we were fininshing our meal.

I love the soups, the Carrot Ginger and the smoked tomato are our favorites. I also really enjoy the different salad dressing , I always get the Chili cilantro vinaigrette. They have a watermelon rind salad, that sounds odd but is really refreshing and since I'm a lover of beets, I really enjoy their spinach beet salad. We eat cous-cous at home and Boma's vegetable cous-cous is very moist and flavorful, it goes really well with the roasted chicken. Of course you can't go wrong with a piece or two of rare roast beef. My son now 14 has always loved Boma and trying new things but they also have the American staples for picky eaters too, like spag/meatballs, mac & cheese, chicken nuggets etc. They have this casserole they call Boboti, I've also had it for breakfast at Tusker House, I guess you can make it with different meats etc., it has a slightly sweet flavor, but I don't mind it.

I'm not much of a dessert person, but DS certainly is. Boma has those Zebra Domes which don't really tickle my fancy but they do have these little tartlets that I like, among other sweets.

I think whether you are an adventuresom eater or not, Boma will be worth trying, it's the only buffet we do at Disney.

I enjoy Boma as well as WCC; however, if your husband is a carnivore lover, while Boma is good, it will not satisfy a meat lover the same as WCC (though it does have several meat offerings). It's a tough call and either would be fine, but myself being a real carnivore, I myself would choose the WCC and the skillet or ribeye over Boma. ;)

Last trip we went to both. We thought Whispering Canyon would be fun for the kids and looked good, and Boma would be more for us.

We could not have been more wrong-ALL of us preferred Boma! My son could not get enogh of the ribs and neither could my DH. My DD and I really liked the soup. We found WCC to be too fatty and not very much fun.

When we discuss favorite places to eat WCC does not even make the top 10, but BOMA is always in the top 3. As long as your DH is open to trying some new flavors I think he will like it, but if the most adventurous spice he will add to food is pepper he may not enjoy the flavors:lmao:

Boma is a delicious feast of tasty delights! Such a refreshing change of style and flavours. I just love the Durban chicken and the cous cous selections....and the soups are definitely worth a try. People rave about the zebra domes for dessert but the bread pudding is what gets me drooling.

Going to BOMA is a must every visit. I am a very picky eater but for some reason, I love the food there! They usually have a carved meat offering and I love, love, love the chicken. The desserts are also quite good. We always arrive early and walk around the resort to see the animals, it's a beautiful resort. WC to me was just more of the same old, same old and although it was decent, it was not that special to us.

Thanks for the positive reviews as we are going to Boma for the first time in a couple of weeks :tinker:

Yes I agree there is something about Boma that makes you want to go back again... and again...even if you are not an adventurous eater. :dog2::dog2: For a picky carnivore, WCC is straight up the middle dining. But Boma should offer enough with ribs and carved meat. The huge selection of sides will no doubt fill DH to the brim. And don't forget the fab Boma breakfast buffet. Best breakfast IMO.

We are going to Boma (and to see AKL) in 10 days - you all have made me so excited to go!:love::love:

Whispering Canyons is fun and loud and we have had all three meals there and all were good but---
Boma's totally different and is quite and has a lot fo food choices. we had breakfast there and they will make you eggs to order as well. we had dinner at Boma's and again the buffet
Kona's Cafe we found out is best steak we have had down there so far:thumbsup2

IMHO, it is worth going to Boma just for the Bobotie! Everything else is just a bonus, and what a bonus it is. Boma is one buffet our family never misses.

All of these great reviews have me looking forward to our Boma dinner on our next trip! We have had breakfast there before, which was great, but not dinner!

Boma is the best buffet in all of Walt Disney World. You will certainly enjoy it. They have a wide array of items such as salads, hummus, chips, soups, rolls, mac and cheese, chicken nuggets and fries for the kids. They also have brought back their prime rib, and they have pastas, seafood dishes and chicken, of course they have the best desserts such as the zebra domes.

Letus know how you like it!

Have a magical visit!

You've already gotten a lot of good comments, but let me just add one quick recommendation. My step father is a picky and not usually very adventurous eater, so we were a little nervous about taking him to Boma. He does like good soups, though, so I thought it was worth the risk. It turned out that he loved it, in part because he did try all the soups and discovered that he loved two of them. He loved Boma so much that we had to book it again for the next trip, and then he decided he wanted to go back a second night that trip. (They - DM and DSF - discovered that they couldn't get back into Boma trying to make an ADR on the same day, but they could get back into their other favorite, Cali Grill, so it all turned out well in the end.)

We love Whispering Canyon Cafe, but Boma is a favorite b/c you can try new and differnt things....how often can you try African food at home? Boma is just different enough so that people who are not too adventerous can still find plenty to eat and those wanting to try differnet things have great options too.
