Hello Gang,
A few of my fellow disney compadres at work rave about BOMA at the AKL and I've always wanted to try it. I've never made ADR's because I'm the lone female in a den full of steak and potatoe eating males. Their idea of adventure is chocolate ice cream instead of vanilla

I'm determined to eat there on our upcoming visit. Reviews please! :thumbsup2

I know a lot of people on here love it, but personally, we will not go back. We are VERY meat and potato kind of people, but it smells so good, we had to try it. There were 7 of us in the party (4 adults and 3 kids). None of us enjoyed it. I would reccommend trying it, but it wasn't for us. Sorry. :sad2:

A lor of ppl here rave about Boma, I prefer other restaurants to Boma, but we did enjoy our meal there. There was a wide selection of food.

DH is definitely a meat & potatoes guy who HATES buffets.
We loved it:love: . DH now recommends it to everyone!
The beauty of a buffet--they can all take little taste of each item and decide what they want to get more of.

We have eaten breakfast at Boma several times and just love it. About 1 1/2years ago, we went there for dinner. (I am willing to try lots of foods and am only limited by what's especially spicy or garlicky because of my gallbladder--and also some foods tend to wake up my usually-sleeping acid reflux problem.) I can tell when I taste something if it's going to be a problem for me, and virtually all the entrees and some of the sides were going to be a problem. I ended up eating chicken strips from the children's buffet, salads, and dessert. It's not like I didn't get enough to eat, but I didn't get to eat what I'd hoped to. So, I'm a little skeptical of whether absolute meat-n-potatoes people would like Boma, at least for dinner. Could you do breakfast?

I was raised in an Irish home where all the food was brown and white...occasionally there were eggs or spaghetti, but mostly brown and white. :) I do not eat Chinese or Japanese and the idea of Thai food makes me shiver.

An Indian (from India) friend of mine invited me for dinner one night and I told her I can't eat anything spicy. Oh, no, she promised. It won't be spicy...I always make some non-spicy for my daughter, I'll make some for you, too.

Dad said, "Beware of foreigners who say 'It isn't spicy.' " But off I went, trusting my friend. After one bite, my eyes were dripping water, my face was beet red and I was dying to rid my mouth of the fire that was hiding in there. I swore that day (and have kept my oath) to never eat anything too adventurous again.

I tell you all this to prove that I am not big on adventurous eating, so you can believe me when I say Boma isn't all that bad. I do fine at Boma. :) Last time I was there (few weeks ago), they had meatballs and potatoes without spicy crap all over them and some kind of regular meat. There were a few things I looked at and thought, "I don't THINK so!" but I was full when I left. :)

I was just saying this on another thread, but "regular food" people can find something at almost every WDW restaurant to eat. :)

I'm with several other posters. We heard such good things about Boma and tried it.....disappointed. No-one in our group of 10 liked it. We all agreed that this was our least favorite meal.

Some people hate it, but a lot of people seem to really love it. Personally, I didn't find it all that adventurous but I loved the food. There were a lot of things most Americans would recognize and enjoy.

I say go and see for yourself. If the meat and potatoes crowd you're with hates it, oh well.

We ate there last week. Prime Rib was on the buffet. I think as long as your group isn't going to just assume unusual name="weird food", you're going to be fine. The food is absolutely delicious. This restaurant is a real treat!

Boma is one place that we absolutely HAVE to eat at when we go to WDW. Few foods are spicy or have exotic sauces, etc. You can always get beef or chicken on the buffet, salad, potatoes, soup...Try it!:thumbsup2

I have been to Boma with just about every kind of eater you can think of - vegetarian, picky, light, meat and potatoes, hates Disney, hates spicy (me), wants comfort foods. Not a single person was disappointed. In fact, my husband and I (both meat and potato people) had to stop going there for a while because we had eaten there too much over two years.

My husband loves the beef. I love the chicken. I thought the steak was spicy but I could eat it. The chicken is basic grilled chicken with bones (one of my favorites on any buffet). My son (a normal eater) latched onto the salads. On one of my trips, the server suggested to combine two of the dressings together if I thought it was too exotic. Perfect. My son did that and ate more lettuce in that meal than a rabbit. My vegetarian friend loves Boma and had my carnavour husband try a few of the dishes. He didn't regret one bit. And the desserts. The only advice I can give you there is to get a plate of dessert along with every plate of real food you get. If you don't, you'll be too stuffed at the end to enjoy the desserts.

Oh - and they have the standard Disney comfort food like chicken strips, mac and cheese, etc.

You mean Prime Rib isn't on the buffet nightly? All their buffets (the one's I've been too) seem to have the standard Prime Rib. We are eating there on Friday Aug. 24. Is there a schedule for it? I have some really picky eaters :sad2: who like prime rib.

Triple, I don't know what's standard. I do know that the chicken, beef, and the salmon were all just delicious.

We've only been there for b'fast. Wife and Son are not very adventurous either (I am) but we all enjoyed it.

If you're a coffee lover like I am it's one of the best spots on property, Kenya press pot.
