We ate dinner at Boma with a group of 7 on Saturday, August 9. I was nervous about trying the food since several in our party (kiddos included) weren't what you would call adventerous eaters. I had read their menu online, and I figured there was enough variety that everyone would be happy.

We had an early dinner reservation at 4:45, which was perfect since they were just opening so it wasn't too crowded. We were seated near the railing close to the dessert salad and fruit side of the buffet (How did they know this was perfect seating for our family?!? :lmao: )

Coincidentally, our server was from my hometown and we even went to the same college. Go figure! Small world! Anyway...I digress...

Before grabbing my first plate, I snapped a photo of the interior. It's rather dark, but at least you can get a feel for it.

The ambience was great although it was a bit dark in the dining area. DDad noticed the unique detailing in the railings throughout the dining area as well as the light fixtures. Disney always does such a great job with their design elements!

Trip 1 - Salads:

White Bean Hummus - very good a little bitey
Olive Hummus - not such a fan, but I'm not big on olives
Sun-dried tomato hummus - yum!
Tomato, Watermelon, and Blue cheese salad - interesting flavors to put together, but if you're a foodie, you'd like it. I was pleasantly surprised by this.
Mixed Green Salad with Mango Vinagrette - I really liked the mango dressing.
Lentil and Tomato Salad - enjoyed this very much...good texture and flavor
Melon Rind Salad - Eh...It was intersting to try, but there was a lot of ginger in the dressing. I am assuming it's brined in a way in the ginger. It was just too much ginger to eat a great deal of it.

Trip 2 - Soups:

Chicken Coconut Curry Soup - LOVED this! The flavors blended so well.
Curried Coconut Seafood Stew (not sure if this is the correct name) - Excellent! The only seafood in my bowl were the mussles, but they were great!

Trip 3 - Main Course

Curried Rice with Raisins - very good flavor....the raisins were a nice touch
Nut Crusted Salmon - enjoyed this very much and I'm not huge on fish, but there wasn't a major fish flavor to the salmon.
BBQ Rib - was too full to eat this! Had to save some room for dessert! DCousin said they were very good, he went back for seconds.
Roasted Veggies - considering they weren't anything facy, just roasted veggies, they were good!
Cornbread (not sure of the actual name...) - great flavor and texture
Sweet potatoes...I think... - FuFu maybe? - yummy!
Coconut Rice - I love coconut so I really enjoyed this!

Trip 4 - Saving the best for last...Dessert!

Banana Bread Pudding with Rum Sauce - To Die For! I could have eaten the entire pan of this!
Cherry Cobbler - Nothing special, but good...DCousin (6) thought it was the best!
Zebra Dome - I know Disers go back and forth about these, but I thought they were wonderful!!! Again, I could have eaten the entire plate of these!
Pineapple Upside Down Cheesecake - This was DDad's favorite....I also thought it was very good. The cheesecake was the perfect texture, and I loved the pineapple.
Coconut Tarimisu - Another To Die For dessert!!! YUM!!!!!
I am not sure what the other two items are, I just took a nibble of each because I was so full at this point!

Overall, the entire family LOVED Boma! It is definitely at the top of my list for our April trip (with DH...he'll love it!). The variety was perfect for a family with differeing tastes. You could be as adventerous (watermelon rind salad) or as basic (spaghetti and chix fingers) as you wanted to be. Everyone in our party was very content after this meal...although Splash Mountain was definitely out of the question that night! :rotfl2: )

Thanks for posting, everything looks great! We're trying BOMA for breakfast on our next trip and can't wait.:thumbsup2

thanks for the great review & fab pictures...and the names & descriptions of the foods. Now I know what to look for 2 weeks from tomorrow! Boma here we come on Free Dining!

Thanks for the review and the picture as well, but we are still undecided. I would say we are not adventorous in our dining regularly but would be willing to try something different on vacation.

Is everything spicy??? What was the favorite food item that your party agreed was fantastic:confused3

Thanks for your time.

Thanks for the review.

This is an absolute must for our trip in Nov. We tried it last year and it was tops on our list. We had to go back for more.

:worship: Oh Zebra Domes!!!!! Yuuuuuuuummmmyyy

Sorry I missed your questions until I looked the thread over today!!! :guilty:

Anyways! Everyone (picky and adventerous alike) loved the ribs (I was too full to eat mine)! Let's see....as far as spicy goes, the hummus was spicy, a few of the salads, and that's all I can remember. I can handle a bit of spicy, but I'm not big on burning off my taste buds. :lmao:

I hope this info is helpful. Even if you go and people decide they don't want to try anything different, they have the following more mainstream options: spaghetti, mac and cheese, prime rib, salad with normal dressing, fruit, and great desserts! I know if you go to Boma it's not for the typical food, but there are options if you decide you're not a fan of the other items once you get there!

Why not get out and live a little! :cool1:  Like you said, you're on vacation! :) :) :)

Thank you for taking the time to explain this, most threads I have read about BOMA has the author just stating that they "love BOMA" and that they "love the zebra domes" and that's it.

The tough part will be trying to get an ADR now, but you never know.

I am wishing safety for your spouse in Iraq and a big thank you for their service.

I have a reservation for there and now i'm thinking about cancelling. There wasn't one thing other than the cherry cobbler that looked appetizing to me. I'm a super picky eater. It seems everything is coconut or curry.

Before you do that, let me tell you that I am a pretty adventerous eater. I don't eat a lot of spicy foods, but I'll try most anything once. My cousin and my mom are much more picky and they really enjoyed it. It's really up to you though, and if you think it won't be your thing perhaps make a reservation elsewhere like Le Cellier where there are more familiar foods. :)
