Boma Breakfast

IMHO,I really like the breakfast at Boma, I think it is a different take on buffet style food. They have a great fruit selection, the eggs were fresh and their juice is amazing(can't get that anywhere else on property). I prefer to not eat at buffets when I go to Disney but when I do I would go here any day!

I went with a friend about a month ago (her choice, I'm not big on buffets or breakfast). Food's pretty good. Had them make me a big ole omelet stuffed with cheese. That's the only way I'll eat eggs.

Boma breakfast was disgusting...so much hype for subpar food.

In my opinion that is a bit harsh (the food was certainly edible), but I was highly disappointed. Mostly standard American fare, no better and sometimes worse than a $5 Las Vegas buffet - but with less selection. I've wanted to try Boma for dinner, but after the breakfast experience I haven't been able to bring myself to spend $40 for dinner there.

I had dinner and breakfast there in October and the dinner was FAR superior to breakfast. Like you said it was mostly standard American fare. In fact the family at the table next to us was complaining about how much was taken off the menu since their last visit. If I wanted a "typical" breakfast there are plenty of places on property to find it.
Dinner was not "typical" buffet food at all. I would recommend anyone try dinner if they have the chance. It was a very wide menu. Sure there were some "safe" items but we found dinner a unique experience.
We will not be going back for breakfast unless I hear some reviews saying the menu has expanded.

Do they still have the amazing pecan sticky rolls? That was my favorite thing at Boma breakfast! Not that I eat sugar any more....

I didn't see anything like that.

I do recall that years ago they used to have lamb sausage. No more. No chicken sausage either. Just standard pork sausage (although tasty standard pork sausage)

They have a few "authentic" items still (bobotie, pap) but it is mostly regular American breakfast fare. I wouldn't call the breakfast "sub-par" but don't go expecting anything adventurous. Dinner is different.

Unless the buffet went severly downhill since about a year and a half ago, I think Boma's breakfast is definitely one of (if not the best) the best breakfast buffets on property.

True, it is primarily traditional American fare, in contrast to some of the more ethnic options served at dinner, but I think the quality of the food is great. They have a very large selection of items, including some not found on the other standard buffets (such as roasted tomatoes). Personally, I think the quality of food is much better than that of a Las Vegas hotel (again, unless it's gone terribly downhill since my last visit), and that you'll be very satisfied with the buffet...even if they don't have zebra domes.

Boma is a great breakfast value Disney wise and the food is fine. And they have Joffreys coffee now instead of Nescrap. We did this in May and will be back in October. Made to order omelettes and the carving station choices are very nice. Was only $18.99 less 20% with TIW.

We stayed at AKL in June and ate breakfast here a number of times (very convenient).

They had:
- pastries, including different muffins, but they did not have sticky buns
- french toast made with a panetone-type bread (with raisins, dried fruit)
- regular pancakes
- waffles
- fresh fruit station, with yogurt (regular yogurt, as far as I could tell)
- regular breads (I had read whole grain breads, but nothing really stood out to me as being really whole grain and homemade)
- different egg dishes, including scrambled eggs with chives
- made-to-order omelette station (very good, I asked for a "little" omelette with a little bit of everything, and the guy delivered, and yes, he poked fun at my request in a good-natured way)
- bobtie (an egg and beef dish - very good)
- regular sausage, regular bacon
- potatoes
- quinoa (boring, I like quinoa, but this was done like oatmeal in water)
- oatmeal, raisins, brown sugar
- carving station (ham and turkey) with a mustard sauce and a sundried tomato sauce - very good for breakfast
- a station with some African dishes - they had a tomato stew ("chakalaka") and roasted tomatoes
- regular Disney coffee (disappointing). They had pressed coffee for $8 over the cost of the buffet

As far as I could tell, they did not have desserts or zebra domes.

Boma's breakfast is a must-do for us on our last morning. We fly, and since we don't know when we'll ever eat again, we stuff ourselves at this buffet. Sadly no zebra domes, but last year (last visit was October, 2010) they had pecan buns. And I love their scrambled eggs with goat cheese and chives.

We had breakfast and dinner at Boma on Tuesday. I thought the breakfast was really good! We got there at 10:30, so it wasn't crowded.
On the carving board, they had ham and corned beef. The corned beef with sambal was so good that I had two servings! There was also bacon, omellettes, eggs, eggs with goat cheese, fruit, pancakes, waffles, banana bread pudding, bagels, toast, etc. The waffles were also delicious!
We enjoyed it so much that we tried to make it back on Friday, but we were running late packing and checking out. We ended up at WPE for lunch, so all was not lost. ;)
