I am thrilled beyong belief that my son has had his first college acceptance, at Boise State. We really don't know alot about the school....can anyone share any info about Boise State or Boise itself?

Thanks

Julia

Well sure, what would you like to know :)

Boise is a great place to live. We wouldnt leave if it werent for a job promotion. We have been here 12 years now and love it. Lots to do here and a really safe place to live as well. We have the greenbelt that is well used, a great path that goes through town and well past it winds next to the river and right beside BSU. Boise has a small town feel to it still which is nice. People are really friendly and in my experience, will go out of their way to help their neighbours.

BSU is an excellent school! What will he be studying? I have several of my teens at church that go there. I can ask if you have specific questions.

I didnt go there but if you live in Boise you know about BSU LOL

JudyfromBoise here is a great resource as well.

I live in Boise and have two daughters that went to BSU. 1 grad and my youngest is doing the College Program at Disney World right now.

Great school AND football team (we have the blue field) your son will love it here if he likes boring things ;) like whitewater rafting, snow skiing-snowmobiling, hunting and fishing in the mountains.

Is he looking at other schools or was this his choice?

LOL, I was just going to say, isn't that the school with the blue football field? :rotfl:

Sorry, other than that I don't know anything about it. :confused3 But congrats on his acceptance!

BSU is a great school, and Boise is a fantastic city :). Let me know if you need any specifics LOL.

I don't think I've seen fans as fanatical as BSU fans. You can't look anywhere without seeing Bronco flags, decals, clothes, or even Bronco Blue and Orange cars or even houses.

Boise is a great place to live. Like Binny said, it has a small town feel for a city of about 185,000.

Just for grins and giggles or maybe it's morbid depending on how you look at it, ducks have died landing on the Smurf Truf thinking it was water.

I want to stress the "small town feel" does not mean we do not have diversity, or a thriving arts community, we certainly do.

Smurf Turf has never burned my eyes when we've watched them play. That's weird......I have to say I love the Smurf Turf, it's so unique. :)

Boise is a great place to be, I have family there and we talk about moving all the time, we hesitate because our kids are very settled and comfortable here, moving to another state is hard to do....My DSis lives in Kuna, which is outside of Boise, my Mom, oldest Dsis, DstepSis and my DD live in Fruitland, my DBro lives in Boise. Good luck to your DS no matter where he decides to go! :)

Their football team regularly beats our NV WolfPack team and hogs 1st place in the WAC :lmao: They wear orange and their fans travel in mass at least they do when they come here.

My son is looking to transfer to Boise possibly next year, they have a good P.T. program and are part of the WICHU program.

Oh and I almost forgot, congrats on the acceptance!

Boise State=smurf turf

that's all I got...sorry :)
But congratulations!

That's a urban legend. The only Ducks that ever died on our field were the Oregon Ducks on Sept 3rd of this year. ;)

While we're on the subject of Idaho colleges - how about University of Idaho in Moscow?

My son is interested in Engineering, Spanish (hopes to do a semester abroad), and Instrumental Music. UofI seems to fit the bill. Any thoughts?

kat, my brother went to law school there. He really enjoyed it. Moscow is a smaller town right across the ID/WA border from WSU in Pullman.

Its a really clean campus which is nice. That may a strange observation but that was what I noticed right off. We often did debate team competitions there too and it always seemed like a friendly place. It has a solid reputation as a good school.

Thanks binny, we're planning on visiting it at the same time we visit WSU but I never seem to hear anything about it other than the jazz festival. I think you tend to hear about your own state schools, not others, even if they are only a few miles apart!
