It has been suggested to me, once or twice, okay a few more times that I should post some of my Off to Neverland Trip Report Bogo's over here. What is a Bogo? Why it is a 'Buy one get on for free'. I am writing a TR and the readers get BOGO dining reports...My way of highlighting some of the more memorable food experiences on our our last trip to the World!

Some will have pictures, some will not...I did my very best to take them, but sometimes my family was pure hungry & it got in the way...

Eaters:
Myself...Self diagnosed Disney freak...I know quite a few friends who just may say the same...

DH...The wallet, LOVED to EAT! Will try just about everything!

DS5...Lil'l Diz Man, as I call him...Sweet guy, who is a mom-diagnosed carboholic...give him anything white and he will gobble it up...sugar tops the list

DD2...Tink...trouble...but will eat just about anything her dad does!

Pop Food Court:

As far as food courts go, I give this one a B+.

Good: Clean, Open, good selection of food.

The not so goods: The food court is too close to the gift shop, needs more seating, maybe the gift shop could be seating? Other than that…I really don’t like standing in line to get my food at one area, then needing to go stand in line again somewhere else to get the rest of what a family of 4 would like to eat. By the time you pay, all of the food you picked up first is cold and yuck!

I ordered the Mom’s night out meal. Which is a daily changing spin off of a TV dinner. Tonight’s TV dinner was bbq beef or pork (can’t remember) on a bun (decent), with coleslaw (ok), beans (Blah), corn bread (yummo) and a over soggy chunk of corn (do I need to say it?).

A few days later...
We ate breakfast. We ordered a BF Platter and a French Toast Platter and split it between the 4 of us...plenty of food! My major gripe was that by the time we got through the food line and payed, our food was on the verge of coldness... My advice, if you are planning to eat there during your trip, is eat early or later that most would! If you can split up adn order...send your DH to one line for the BF platers and you hit the line for the waffles (each taking a kid or two).

Kona Cafe (in the Poly) for breakfast:

For those who have not eaten at the KONA CAFÉ for breakfast, I suggest you make it a priority for your next Trip! Get that…GO THERE! This meal would be OOP, since we are not yet on DDP (that starts tomorrow). We decided we would do the sharing thing, because…well, because we could! We ordered…drum roll please…YES…THE TONGA TOAST and the Pineapple Macadamia Pancakes with a side of eggs for TINK. For bevies my DH ordered the Kona Coffee Press, I ordered the house special blend of Hawaiian juices (forget the name, but had several juices including…but not limited to Guava juice). Lil’l Diz Man got chocolate milk and Tink got the white version. All in all the food was YUMMERS and I mean YUMMERS!

Here is the low down on the grub: (We devoured our food before I could take pic’s…sorry for that.)

Tonga Toast: Thick cut of bread (not sure the kind), cut in the middle and stuffed with sliced bananas, then dipped in some kind of yummo batter, fried and fully coated in cinnamon and sugar. A few calories...not to many though…who’s counting? Mickey?

Our rating = B+
Although yummy, it was very sweet. Sweet like a mini doughnut from the state fair, sweet. So sweet, no syrup needed, sweet. Lil’l Diz Man LOVED IT! So much that, dh and I got 1-2 bites and he finished the rest.

Pineapple Macadamia Pancakes:
Rich pancakes with a small amount of crushed macadamia nuts. Served with pineapple butter, which melts all over the pancakes. Or was it opposite- pineapple in the pancakes and nuts in the butter? What ever it was…it was gone fast!

Our Rating = A+
These very rich, yum, yum pancakes were from heaven, literally they melt in your mouth. Dh & I could easily share 1 serving (with giving a bit to the kiddos). MMMMMMmmmmmm.

Kona Pressed Coffee:
Rating = B

It is good. Okay, so people swear by this stuff, I know! Well my dh is a coffee snob. Ya, they gotta have a snob for everything. He would be it, for coffee. Dh uses a coffee press everyday and loves dark roasts. He felt it was good. Just not great. Next to the resort stuff, it was fine…better. Nuff said!

Misc.
I really enjoyed my juice blend and would order it again. The service was great! As you enter the restaurant, they ask you if you have any food allergies. I thought that was thoughtful… Next thing I know, snoopy me watched as the table next to us received a visit from the chef. Seems the momma of the group had food allergies, so the Chef came out to help create a meal that she could eat without issues. That is great service!

Did someone say French Toast Loaf?

I brought the kiddos to the Main Street Bakery to grab some much heard about food. Pushing the double wide, I made it through the line to a 9 month 29 day pregnant CM, who was not too excited to be there. :scared1:

Don’t blame her either!:)

Not knowing how the dining plan worked her, I politely inquired. I was giddy to find out that you can get 1 hot item, 1 bakery item & a bevy for only 1 CS credit! That is a bargain my friends! So I ordered 2 counter service credits worth of food, for all of us to share…plenty…our tummy were very full!

My order consisted of:
1 French Toast Loaf
1 Croissant Sandwich with egg & cheese
1 Cinnamon Roll
1 Krispie Kreme donut
Choco Milk
OJ FANTA

OOP: Yogurt & banana

Food Rating: B+
Dining Plan Value Rating: A
Service: B+, I do not blame the prego CM for not being ‘All so Disney happy’…I wouldn’t either...at her point!

The KK Donut, was just that...a yummy KK donut! The Cinnamon roll had good flavor, but nothing that I would say I must go there for. The FT Loaf was great! It was a slice of warm, rich, buttery sweetness. The inside was nice and soft, while the outside had a nice crispy, buttery-ness…yummo! They gave us a little syrup packet, which was plenty of sweetness, for this already sweetened delight.

We found ourselves a table at the end of the block, in front of The Plaza Restaurant. We took our sweet time eating, enjoying the morning; while we watched the happy people walk by.

Wow your descriptions are wonderful! I hate pancakes and french toast kinds of things but you are making me crave Tonga Toast and French Toast loaf! ::yes:: May we please have seconds on your great review? :thumbsup2

I'll take a cinnamon roll, thank you very much! :goodvibes

Thoose things ROCK! But I did like the french toast loaf a lot too...but my Lil'l Diz man gobbled it up fast than I could eat...

I  photos of food. Now I want something sweet!

Wow! Those are great photos!! Were hungry !! Feed us more!!!
Susan

Thanks for reading & posting...it all makes me what to head there now and eat...too bad it is sooo far away!

Bummer...those pancakes ROCKED! But the 2 toasts are quite yummo too...more to come, hope you enjoy!

Nice place to get some DAWGS! The hot version...with fixing too, if you'd like.

I haven’t heard ALL great things about this place. Some swear by it, others say leave it. For us, it is a great spot for a quick snack or lunch. I generally get the food, while Dh promptly finds the large T.V. playing oldies but goodies...it is in a room off to the dise...there are bleachers to sit at and a few tables. It is an open air feel...ducks are known to join you.

I got 1 carton of dawg nuggets, 1 extra jumbo, one size fits XL hot dawg, some fries, a bottle of milk – priced at the ½ gallon rate and an Jumbo Orange Fanta…This momma LOVES Fanta. OT Alert: I like all Fanta’s, but extra specially the European varieties. It appears that the Coca-cola bottling company likes to mix Fanta by the country. The Fanta in most of Europe is a smooth light citrusy flavor…reminds me kinda of Orangina. The Fanta in Sweden is a bit more orange soda-ish, than that of it’s European friends. However the Fanta of North America is much more like your garden-variety orange soda. Just a little bit of useless Fanta info. Take it or leave it.

When I ordered, I noticed the CM writing my order on one of those McD type drink holder cartons. :confused3 I thought to myself that maybe he ran out of paper...should I borrow him some? I never imagined that he would then load up my order on it. Sorry another-OT Alert: This Momma is a recycler…A BIG recycler. I am the lady on the block who has the ¼ filled garb container and the recycling container (that is larger than the garbage container) filled to the brim and over flowing. Let’s just say that it is One of my big OCD to do my part in saving our planet things (amongst many others). This proves to be a sticky point on all of my trips to the world…recycling that is.

This place has got a great fixin’s bar. For a DAWG place that is. Unlike other places (to be named later) they have yummy warm cheese sauce (yummers on the fries!). For your choosing, you can also get pickles, kraut, onions and the usual condiments. The large T.V. is an added bonus. It aids in keeping everyone happy, while you get the goods situated. On especially nice days you can enjoy the outside tables. Sometimes there is even a piano player, keeping the Disney sounds alive.

Earl of a Sandwich in DTD

We decided to try a ‘talked up’ sandwich joint called Earl OF Sandwich. Been there? If not, IMHO there would be no need to make a special trip for this place.

When we entered, we were quick to realize that there was a line. A LONG line! I gave the joint my momma 360 scan and also noticed, that although the line was LONG, there seemed to be much LESS Bum seating, than people attempting to plant their bums on those seats. DH & I did the menu search, found several choices that sounded yummo, picked a few and then parted ways. DH & the double-wide filled with hungry, hungry hippos searched the joint for a table for 4. I corralled myself in line to attempt our order.

Don’t you hate going to a new CS style restaurant, where you don’t know the tricks of the trade…?

How do you order?
What do you order?
Where do you order?
Where do you pick it up?
Will we have a place to rest our bums while eating?

I got to the counter, attempting my order-

For DH & I:

Beef n' Bleu - Fresh roasted beef, bleu cheese, lettuce & tomato. Fresh made to order on Artisan Baked Loaf

Our Rating: C

Both DH & I felt although good, it was definitely not something to write home about. The sandwich had a nice amount of blue cheese, however lacked meat, a lot of meat…

The Original 1762 (Hot Sandwich) - Fresh roasted beef, creamy horseradish sauce & cheddar cheese. Fresh made to order on Artisan
Baked Loaf.

Our Rating: C-

We both felt this sandwich was blah. Not only could it have used more meat, a lot more meat…It also lacked any sense of the horsey sauce, which it was to contain…?

Lil’l Diz Man & Tink:
Just For Kids - Grilled Cheese

Kids rating: F

Although DS would not eat it as is. Tink also snubbed it…and Tink eat just about anything (as you will see in an upcoming Epcot visit). It for sure lacked cheese. Esp. in the varieties of cheeses kids enjoy. It reminded me of a smooshed rectangle hoggie bun, with a slice of ½ way melted cheese. Blahhhkk!

The cashier was less than excited to be there. Gave me a few rolls of the eyes when I asked what the Grilled cheese for my kiddos would be like. And I got-

“bread with cheese…grilled.”

Well, DUHHH!

I asked again, this time more clearly- “What kind of bread, what kind of cheese”

I dunno, I can ask, if you need me too?

Forget it… And I paid.

Or did I?

No…

Because you don’t pay the dude who takes your order. You pay waaay down at the end of the counter…Next to where all of those people who ordered before me, where standing in a football huddle…waiting…and waiting…for their order to be called.

I unwrapped all of the goods and started divvying them up (Dh & I like to share, so we can try different things). I handed ds his portion of the ‘grilled cheese’, and BAM! No Sirry, was he gonna eat that! He stated that he doesn’t like rectangle grill cheeses on a bun...

My ds may be an easy going kind of guy for most things.

Food is not one of those things.

Could have been an off day...just don't go there with to high of hopes...it is a sandwich joint, not LeCellier...

Sunshine Season In Epcot across from SOARIN

Let me start out by saying this place ROCKS! It is a great place to eat if you are waiting for your FP return time or are baby swapping as we have to do all of the time!

We ate there many times...I didn't get any pictures but let me explain how this place works.

There are several counter service areas (like a food court). You can pick between an Asina place (our favorite), Soup /Sandwich, Salads, Sushi, a "grill" area, fruit & ‘Uncrustables’ meals for the kiddos.

If you are on the dining plan, you get to order anything from the yummo bakery for your dessert choice...and this is Gourmet desserts + your typical cupcakes, donuts, cookies. My favorite was the Strawberry Short cake;) ;)

On one particular visit I got the worlds largest Fanta (for dh & I), a double plated meal, including 2 servings of Mongolian Beef & Chinese Noodles and a giant square 4x4 of Strawberry Shortcake desert.
Meal feed 4, CS meals used = 1 dining credit
Rating: A

Even if you are not on the dining plan, this place has large servings, and can be a budget saver if you share. Again...Best of all is the MASSIVE dessert counter with pastries to tarts. YUMMO!

ASKERHAUS- EPCOT~WORLD SHOWCASE

PICT1058.jpg

The below will be an experience review...not just food...the whole kit and caboodle!

We arrived promptly at Askerhaus for our Lunch ADR. The Norwegian hosts were ready to take us in immediately, but first they had to announce us. This gesture is grand, more grand for older children I presume. But for Tink…she doesn’t know her last name, so she could have cared less that they botched our name.

We ate here in 2005 for dinner. At the time our Lil’l Diz man was going through a Princess Love thing…he was turning 4. The food…well the food left us feeling…still hungry. Not because there portion sizes aren’t of American Super Size proportion? It was mostly because the meatloaf concoction I ordered was like warm, wet cat food and the Ribs my DH got were ¾ fat, 1/8 sauce & 1/8 meat. :scared: I do have to say that we chalked the poor Ribs to a poor cut of meat…we will leave it at that and hope that was the answer. The meatloaf thingy…I have no excuse for…sorry.

So why’d we come back? Simple! The chance to meet many Princesses’ in a short amount of time is well worth the promise to find something different on the menu that will not make us yak. I remember back to Economics 101. My first college class with 500+ students, all but 2 slept each day…I was not one of them. Supply and Demand, the Supply of such princess’s is far out weighed by the demand of the little girls (and boys) who want a picture with them…just one…a touch, a smile, a hello, a hug. Anything, just to be within 1 foot of a beautiful princess! :cloud9:

When we were here in 2005 for dinner we were not blessed with the opportunity to have a personal meeting with a princess as we entered. In our case Princess Aurora…aka…Sleeping Beauty…aka Bell Bell (to Tink) greeted upon our entrance. Being that Tink, was dressed as Princess Aurora this day, all was great in the land of mommy photo opts…at least that was what I had hoped…

As Tink entered, she was not too sure how to proceed…should she go up to Bell Bell, should she hold on to mom, should she hold her Lil’l Diz’s hand and walk slowly to greet the Bell Bell? With a few nudges, a couple pokes and finally a bit of a mommy shove (gentle like) we got her to her destination. And as an added bonus for a few kicks and giggles Lil’l Diz joined the fun for a bit, so Mr. Photo Pass Man & I could attempt a few shots of my darlings. Wouldn’t you know it that as soon as I started snapping, my battery went dead…Of all times…just when I needed it most. To make matters worst, I didn’t have an extra battery for it yet…so I had to rely on Mr. Photo Pass to capture the best of the best…or at least I had hoped he did.

PICT1044_1.jpg

Tink giving the 'cold shoulder'

Once Tink was in place and all warmed up to Princess Aurora (Bell Bell), leaving her (Bell Bell) was just about the last thing that she wanted to do. We basically had to pry her away from Aurora, while she chanted, “Bell Bell, Bell Bell, Bell Bell.” We promised her more Bell Bell’s to come, so finally little miss BSqueaky Shoes, squeaked her way over to our table.

What happened next was a pure mixture of Tink’s excitement of seeing all of the Bell Bell’s (princess’) and Tink’s alter ego Ms. Priss coming for a visit. Every Princess who visited was warmly, or not so warmly greeted by our little darling with either a POUT and cold shoulder, or excitement. Not the ‘Welcome’ to my table, ‘thanks’ for coming over to visit me kind of excitement…this excitement was to tell the NEW Bell Bell (princess) that there are other Bell Bell’s there. She would simply start chanting Bell Bell to the Princess’ and point her little finger over to the Bell Bell who had just left our table, attempting to explain that she just saw a Bell Bell. It was cute, yes…But hard on me to get any pictures (with my little purse camera).

I will let the following pictures can tell the story:

Lunch was…Better than the last time we ate there. Again the character interaction was hands down, great! We were even awarded with the appearance of Cinderella. This was a highlight, since to this point she hadn’t been a regular Bell Bell assigned there. Once we were seated, our CM Waiter alerted us that she might be there, since she had been frequenting the joint.

Food = B
To start your meal, you get to take a visit to the Salad Bar, which has your traditional lettuce salad, cold salads, fruit, meat & cheeses, in addition to several styles of herrings. Both times we have visited, they have brought out our meals, even before we have taken turns getting our food from the Salad Bar. My recommendation would be to place your order after you have gotten your salad course.

Dh ordered the Pan-Seared Trout, with stewed red cabbage, apples, bacon and garnished with a roasted onion and beet jam

I ordered the Slow-Cooked Meatballs served with lingonberry demi
And I swapped the rutabaga mash for potato mash.

My meal reminded me of Swedish Meatballs, which I love and my DH said his Trout was good, but not seasoned greatly.

Our Kiddo’s shared a kid’s pizza and our Tink ate a bit of each thing we took from the Salad Bar (she is a great eater).

Dessert there is a favorite of mine. You get a large plate delivered to your table with:
My personal favorite**Rice Cream topped w/ fresh Strawberries and Sauce, Chocolate Mousse on a chocolate waffle cookie & A Lingonberry Tart.

During our meal we were presented with a present. A present, which can be purchased for the low, low cost $31.90. The present is a slew of Mr. Photopass man pictures... yep...they get ya!
