Before the cruise...going to MK. I need help!!!! Only 2nd time at WDW...really want to eat dinner at BOG and at California Grill. I have a resie for BOG at 11:20 for lunch and at 6:40 (just opened up) for dinner. Also have resie for CA Grill at 9 pm (not doing MNSSHP.) I REALLY want to eat dinner at BOG over lunch....but I also want to eat at CA Grill...any advice?????

California Grill has much better food than BOG. It's also more expensive.

I would pick CG over BOG any day of the week.

BOG has the nicest food in the MK, but that is an entirely separate standard from virtually everywhere else on property. In my mind, you go to MK to be entertained...but when it's time for dinner, you hop on the monorail and hit one of the resort restaurants...preferably, CG. I'd suggest keeping the BOG lunch ADR, as you'll still get to see the inside of the "castle" and explore the different dining rooms, see the talking suits of armor, get some version of the grey stuff (cupcake frosting in its current format), etc. But definitely keep the CG dinner ADR. Probably my favorite place on property.

We had one of our best meals ever on property at CG. Definitely worth the expense in our minds. Plus the view of Wishes from the top of the CR is a very different perspective on the show.

BOG is worth a lunch stop to see the beautifully themed restaurant. The food was good - Definitely the best in MK IMO. But we wouldn't choose it over CG for dinner - UNLESS time is a concern for you. The trip to CG from MK is short - 10 minute walk from the front of the park - but you have to leave the park and return. Usually not a major deal but with park hours short at certain times of the year a consideration at least.

Also, depending on the make up of your party BOG may be more age appropriate. CG is a more mature environment and little ones may not appreciate the need to be on their best behavior on vacation. We have never taken our kids there as we considered them too young to sit through a long meal. Now that they're older we may give it a shot.

I would choose CG over BOG any day of the week, no question about it. You can see the castle at lunch, and lunch is nice. Dinner is okay, but IMO not worth the frenzy that this place creates. Since you are not doing the party I think you will enjoy CG because you will be able to see the fireworks display. It is really awesome! Now given a choice between CG and Narcoossees at the Grand, I would choose Narcoossees.

Like all the PP's I'm for BOG for lunch and Cali Grill for Dinner. Love CG it is a must every trip. Been 3 times to BOG for dinner and that's all I do. The menu is OK and it was nice and convenient for dinner but once you've seen the inside you're good.

I really felt rushed at BOG. I tried to order an appetizer and then my dinner but the waitress was a little insistent she wouldn't but it in until the appetizer came out. Unfortunately the dinners came out before the appetizers were even half way done

I would also opt to have lunch at BOG and dinner at CG.

BOG's atmosphere is largely the same at lunch and dinner, in that the dining rooms look the same. At lunch, you can (usually) pick which room you want to dine in. I highly recommend the West Wing if you want the most immersive "Beauty and the Beast" experience. The Rose Gallery (with the music box) would be my second choice. The Ballroom, the largest room, is my last choice (reminds me of dining in a conference center banquet hall). At dinner, you usually cannot choose your dining room and the largest is the Ballroom, so that's the one you're most likely to dine in. The lunch and dinner foods were both tasty, but I actually liked the lunch options better. The biggest plus to dinner is that you can (usually) meet the Beast after you finish your dinner (no Beast at lunch). So as long as you're not going to BOG because you want to meet the Beast, I'd opt for lunch.

California Grill is one of my favorite Signature dining locations at WDW. The food is very good and service has been (generally) excellent. It's one of the noisier Signature restaurants, but it's also brightly lit and has a very lively feel. The views from the windows are spectacular and they have an observation deck for watching the MK's fireworks. CG is on my family's list of "must go" restaurants when we're in WDW.

Cali Grill is one of my least favorite signatures since the refurb/menu change the other year, but it is substantially better than BoG in all regards.

BoG is more about the atmosphere and setting than the food, but it's not bad.

Another vote for BOG lunch and CG dinner. With BOG lunch you do get to see inside the castle, which is indeed lovely, and you can have a decent sandwich and be back on your way.

CG is a whole other experience. I still dream about that pork belly nigiri.

This one is an easy one............California Grill is the choice.......no question! :rolleyes1 The food the ambiance the great spot for viewing fireworks.......did I mention the food :D. The cost difference is obviously substancial.......but if you're asking this question you must know that.....?.........right?

BOG is nice.........but the food just cannot compare.........I don't care what the Beast>:( says!
