BoG "signature" dessert released

Good question. The only thing I can come up with is they are taking advantage of the popularity of the place which I have never understood, to be honest. And also taking advantage of the fact that your average guest either doesn't know or doesn't care if they are getting value for a dining credit. I have no doubt BOG will continue to be a really hard to get ADR and that it will continue to serve average food.
I disagree with you a little bit. When Le Cellier 1st went to 2 credits it was just as hard as ever to get. But now I can get an ADR there about any time I want it. Your rep only lasts so long and BoG doesn't even have that going for it.

You may be correct that part of the problem is setting the pre-fixe at $55. Which begs the question, if this is a true 2TS signature restaurant, why set the prices so low? While we do not use DDP, I would hate to waste 2TS on this meal. I'm sure there are plenty who will at least once.

I also wondered why they set the price so low. California Grill’s brunch is a prix fixe meal at $99(?), so they have a precedent for a high-quality meal at a high prix fixe price point. It’s a shame that they didn’t do this with BOG. They had the opportunity to do something great with it.

On the podcast, someone (Kathy, maybe?) suggested using the space for some kind of special event like a ball, which would be really cool!

When people spend as much as a Disney vacation costs, yeah, they may not care as much as usual about the value.

I think it's $80. A real signature has average entree prices around $50, an alcoholic beverage say around $15 and dessert around $15 (both of those might be a couple of dollars high but I've paid $14 for a glass of wine and that much for dinner) so you could potentially value most signature experiences at around $40/TS credit... which is not the greatest but not the worst. $27.50/ts is a very low value when you're paying $75 per credit, though you can probably add a glass of wine to that so maybe more like $65 total. Still not a great use of the credit. People may see it as a value because they get the third course though.

I agree with this, but BOG has been super popular from day 1, and as far as I'm concerned the food is average at best and the place is generally way over hyped to the point I'm not so sure the change to 2 credits will make that much of a difference in popularity, even though it should.

That $55 price tag is only temporary. I’d bet it doesn’t last longer than a few months whether or not the meal remains as popular as it is now.

If bookings sink, they’ll say it’s because that price point doesn’t allow them to offer a high end experience. If bookings soar, it will be hiked in response to supply and demand.

Mark my words.

I think it will because the next thing they will address is the breakfast. I do believe they are at best breaking even on breakfast with all of the one cup of coffee or one meal and a plate pf pastries please. This is the one meal that if they had made it price fixed most people would agree with.

With so many people disappointed, I might be able to get a reservation.

I have to say the dessert looks incredible.

I had no luck this morning at my 180 day mark, I was trying for my second day and there was nothing available, if I was willing to switch to my 4th day there were a few options though. I will keep looking because we are paying oop and I am interested in the new menu, but if I don't get it I will be happy with something else too.

I also think the dessert looks cute, and we are excited for the experience of eating in Be Our Guest. I'm traveling with my mom, who took me to see Beauty and the Beast at least three times when I was 3, and still considers it one of her favorite movies. Also, we're using the dining credits on it even though it's not the best deal for the DDP just because we're on the DxDP and not using them would leave us with excess credits.

Today is our 180 day mark as well. We're arriving on 9/29 and our TA was able to book BoG for us on 10/4 (also our MNSSHP night) at 5pm with seemingly no problem. We asked her to prioritize it as our first reservation. If you're willing to change to a different day in your trip you might have similar luck.

Unfortunately it is a short trip (also arrive 9/29) and I also wanted an earlier reservation on our potential MNSSHP day (9/30) but there was nothing. We will be back to WDW, so I am not worried about missing it, but it would have worked nicely with our plans. I will keep looking and have put out a TP reservation finder request as well so I am optimistic.

I’m just frustrated in general at the lack of good dining options in MK. I was so excited about the changes to BoG, thinking we would finally have a decent restaurant there. This just goes to show that, as I should have expected, they are really phoning it in here. This “dessert” sampler is an embarrassment. Just look at the amazing pastries you can get at Les Halles in Epcot, a quick service restaurant. They couldn’t even pull out one single special item for this? Macaroons don’t count.

Our days of having lunch at BOG while in the Magic Kingdom are most likely over with the prices going the signature route. Will probably just head over to Whispering Canyon Cafe for lunch from now on. We love their food there.

Breakfast and Lunch will still be Counter Service like it is now, I believe. It's just dinner that is going Prix Fixe.
