BOG menu change?

I had the steak and fries last week. It was very good. I loved the truffle, herbed mayo that came with them. No one else liked it but I did. I have to say that BOG was the best meal we had our entire stay. It is on the must-do list for our next trip, whenever that is.

Our favorite meal of all of them! We really enjoyed the steak. And I loved the truffle mayo...yum!
We are returning in February and it was our first choice. It took me 6 weeks of trying but I finally got our dinner res here.

I love anything with truffles. We don't have many places where I live that have dishes or sides that feature them so when I am somewhere that they are offered I go for it!!

We ate at BOG on 10/27 and our server told us it was the last night for that menu and they would be changing the menu the next day. She said the Salmon was changing to a fish of the day so they could change it seasonally. She mentioned that many of the sides were changing as well and told us some of the reasons. Ex- the puff pastry on the shrimp is supposed to be served at room temp but many guests complained that it wasn't hot and sent the dish back. She told us more but I don't remember all of the changes but they are here to stay for awhile.

Oh no! The only thing DD likes on their menu is the Salmon off the adult menu and she absolutely loves that. The kids menu in most of the WDW has Mahi Mahi and the fish of the day at WDW always seems to be Mahi mahi and DD thinks it is disgusting. DH loved the dish inside the puff pastry. I am not going to have a happy family about these changes.

The portions look like they shrunk a bit as well.

I had the shrimp and scallops in puff pastry in August and the cream sauce was so salty I had to scrape off most of the sauce and eat the seafood with big pieces of the delicious puff pastry. Wonder why they got rid of the pastry bowl? It made the dish look much more substantial and easier to swallow the price of the dish (no pun intended)~ it looks so paltry now. I wish I'd taken a photo of my dinner to show the difference:(!

Is the truffle mayo with truffles or truffle oil? (Big flavor difference.)

There were bits of truffle in the mayo.
And yes..I've had dishes that use just the oil and dishes that use actual truffles.

Anybody else think that the fish has not seen any part of a grill but instead was pan sauteed? Grill marks-no. Pan marks-yes.
Maybe it's a flat grill? It looks good to me whatever it is.

I was surprised at how much it was. It didn't look like a lot but that dish was full of seafood and veggies. I'm a big eater and my DH had to help me finish it. The kids meals were rather skimpy though.

We ate there Thursday and I was sad to hear the gratin macaroni was gone, as well as the puff pastry for the scallops and shrimp. I'm not sure of any other changes.

The gratin macaroni was a great side. It usually tasted pretty good. I have developed a mushroom allergy and can't eat the braised pork anymore, which is what I loved, so I told my husband we weren't supposed to go there anymore. Each time we ate there, we had a magical experience.

I'm not a fan of all the menu homogenizing. Salmon is a great healthy option for them to offer.

Regarding the new menu, the new lamb dish sounds delicious. I have had the previous rack of lamb a few times and it was really good. I am surprised that they did not change some of the appetizers and desserts. I think the cupcakes are very overrated.

Ugh. I don't eat meat and I can't have mushrooms, so soup + macaroni au gratin was my go-to BoG meal. One of my favorites on property!! Gutted that it's gone :(

I don't see the mashed potatoes. I can't stand eating a steak with French fries, makes me feel like I'm eating fast food.

I agree, even though it is customarily served as steak frites in French bistros, the fries they serve at BOG remind me of McDonald's fries.
