BOG breakfast........just thought

Where did you hear that?!?!! Anna and Elsa meeting at CRT would be huge news, and I haven't seen anything about it.

No, I was just saying that if they took Belle from Akershus they could replace her with Anna & Elsa. They have not done this.

:-) This is like playing telephone.

A&E at CRT might would make more sense and make the price more tolerable .... and send Belle to BOG, and let's get this restaurant fixed. 2.5 years and it's still not finding it's groove.

I think it should be a Table Service Semi-Character Meal with the West Wing and Rose Gallery closed off - just the ballroom. Put her in the ballgown with the Beast in the Library. Keeping them in there will turn tables faster.

Thanks for editing your post to clarify.

Seems unlikely they'd add A&E to CRT while they're doing a meet-and-greet right outside.

Cinderella is meeting just outside as well - even closer given she's on the first floor. And Rapunzel is seen at CRT sometimes and meeting next door. I think Disney figures it's up to the parents to time their visits to them in a way that won't confuse the kids.

I hoping for this breakfast. I cant get a lunch or dinner and Im checking 10 days! We've never been and my daughter really wants to go inside the new castle.

This is from another thread earlier this week...but most here recognize that "Scupper" is a very credible poster.

We has 2 breakfasts scheduled. Intended to do one of them. Cut one due to price and a change of plans. The latter was a switch to another park and while I was minimally disappointed to cancel, I was kind of relieved to not spend that much money on breakfast.

Ended up deciding to cancel the second one as well. It was a few days later and the cost was a deciding factor.

The meals DID appeal to me. I am surprised to see so many not like them. Were they just poorly made or "too fussy" for lack of a better term. I know some in my family would scrunch their nose at the offerings. Totally not their type of food.

What Rusty Scupper posted (as rumor) makes so much more sense. Quite frankly, $20 a meal for a glorified quick service was steep. They could EASILY adjust the pricing to be more and switch it to Table Service if not a full blown character meal.

Just for fun... right now I can get an 8:05 BOG breakfast reservation on July 8 for 6 people. No EMH and regular 9 am opening from what I see. And as people pointed out that party of 6 could get in with early entry and split one or two kids' meals according to my understanding of current rules. To reiterate: A family of six can get pre-park entry for $11.99+tax TOTAL and they still aren't filling up. Something will need to change.

I wonder how many people
KNOW that, though.

While making BOG breakfast a TS meal sounds sensible, it would almost require lunch to become TS also. I can see this happening in the future, but people have already reserved lunch as QS through December and I think lunch's popularity would take a huge hit similar to Le Cellier if it changed over. For the near future, I expect BOG breakfast to disappear or make changes on pricing/menu/something more temporary.

Also, I realize the vast majority of people going to Disney World are unaware of how or unwilling to work the system, but the information is out there if they were genuinely interested. The fact is the majority of Disney guests seem indifferent to BOG breakfast.

I was really hoping they'd extend this and I'll be sad if they make it all TS. I mean, I can see why they would, and considering you have to have an ADR (which defeats the purpose of QS anyway) it's the next logical step. But boo anyway. Here's hoping I can at least get in on that QS lunch first :D

I called and spoke with a cast member and they told me it was not going to continue... :(

I would trust them like I would trust a bus driver. LOL

It may not continue, but the people at CRO/WDTC are usually the last to know. I am not saying that to be "smart"; it is the truth. They usually receive a memo about 24 hours before a change, discount release, etc.

I think the breakfast option was one of the most inept efforts to expand a restaurant's potential that I have ever seen. This is a pretty restaurant, and with some thought, I imagine it would draw a crowd, but in order to do so, they really need to offer something other than a menu that is expensive if people follow the plan, and a total loss if they allow folks to share a pastry plate.

The value of any park breakfast ADR is pre park entry, unless there are characters, and this place does not really offer either benefit now that the park is opening at 8AM most days. I have no idea how tey will utilize this space, but I really wish it stayed a breakfast option for August.

If they let breakfast remain with reservations easy to get, they could easily hurt lunch/dinner popularity. How many people have booked because it's super-popular, hard-to-get, and all those people clamoring for reservations must know something? I imagine quite a lot. Once you start seeing some more availability, more people will drop their reservation because it's not as high-demand and special. Not saying most would, but I think a significant number and Disney knows they need to navigate carefully so they can keep riding the wave of popularity.

It doesn't help that the majority of people don't get up and go. Yes there are tons of people in the park in the morning but nothing compared to the crowds by lunch time. Most wouldn't care to even bother since they would never make.

I think they are "too fussy". For breakfast, always best to keep it simple. At least have some traditional breakfast items (ummm...how about Mickey waffles? they should be available everywhere they serve breakfast)..to go along wit those "fussier" ones. Also, isn't it supposed to be in France...so where's the French Toast?

I've never actually seen French Toast for sale in France, or anywhere else outside of the USA.

One thing I liked the look of about BOG Breakfast was the unique menu items, rather than just repeating the same Mickey waffles you can get at 20 different places at Disney. If they had priced it just a little lower, around $16.99 maybe then it would be good value, also it was never very clear on the Disney offical website menu that pastries and drinks are included. As $19.99 for the entree seems expensive, but for two courses and a drink its OK and for $16.99 it would be perfect. A platter in a food court is $9, plus $3-4 for pastries and $3 for drink and it makes BOG look a reasonable value for a nice entree rather than a slopped together platter.

Unique items should be more of a draw than the same food available everywhere. Especially since you can get unlimited Mickey waffles and more plus characters at Crystal Palace at what is now a relatively small price difference. BOG needs to adjust their offerings (which they've already tried in adding the croque madame), marketing, and/or price if they want reservation demand to increase. But I could also see these slots filling in last-minute.

They could always take a cue from Les Halles.

I've got a reservation for mid-July, 8am when the park opens at 9. Can't wait. If they change the park opening to 8am, however, I will definitely cancel, b/c the main reason we are going is to be in the park early.

I cannot believe they would not extend this breakfast, unless for some reason they are not happy having so many guests that far back in the park before park opening, especially since it sounds like people are finishing their meals 20 minutes after they arrive?!

I mean, since when do people care about paying a premium at WDW?? Is it that there are no characters at this breakfast?

More likely the place is open but not generating enough revenue to cover expenses. If there is no minimum for entry, there is no reason to buy much, and if you don't get an early entry into the park, why bother? You miss the best part of park touring if you are sitting in a restaurant and everyone else is in line

You actually just illustrated why they may not extend breakfast. If you would only go for an 8 am reservation when the park opens at 9, why do you expect others to be clamoring for 8:45-10 am slots or any slots at all on 8 am opening days? The people who are willing to pay a premium for MK breakfast have chosen to spend that money at CP or CRT according to July ADR availability.
