Has anyone done the Body Sculpt Boot Camp offered through the Fitness Center on any of the Disney Ships? I am considering doing this on a couple of our sea days during my up-coming 7 night cruise on the Fantasy in October. I am wanting opinions on whether it is worth the extra cost. Can you give a brief review of your session. How would you rank the experience.

Thanks,

Thanks,

This seems to have fallen off the radar and I'm hoping to get a reply to the same questions asked by the original poster for my own upcoming Fantasy cruise end of September. I also want to know if it's a tough workout as opposed to something geared to anyone who wants to try it. (I'm hoping the class is geared to people who workout hard already and want to continue training while on vacation.)
Anyone? ...Bueller?
;)
Thanks!

I will be able to check this out on the Sept. 2 cruise on the Magic. I was wondering the same thing -- also, how much it costs persession.

I'll let you know!!:yay:

Just back from the 9/2 cruise to Canada on the Magic out of NYC. My first trip on board was to the spa and fitness center to get rainforest passes and check out the fitness classes.

Well -- imagine my surprise when I read that the "nominal" fee for 4 30-minute boot camp sessions was $120! That's a dollar a minute, and almost 5 months of gym membership for me. I ended up doing a cycling class, which was a pretty good workout. Although, as a newbie to spin, I had trouble standing up on the bike with the ship moving and slipped off!! That class was complimentary, and all I had to do was tip the instructor. It's a much better bet.

The boot camp also came with a complimentary "body composition analysis", which I am sure was a vehicle to sell product or treatments. As for the Rainforest, I am not sure that I would do a weekly pass again. We only used it twice, and on the last day, it wasn't very good. There were no clean towels in the locker room or the Rainforest, no clean robes left (I got the second to last one), and the sauna was only marginally working. To top that off, two women in the Rainforest room were on the lounge chairs having a loud, long conversation for about a half hour. So much for tranquility!!

When I got back to the locker room, the dirty robes were piled almost to the ceiling and spilling onto the floor from the hamper. When we mentioned all this to the woman at the front desk of the spa, she shrugged and did nothing. This was VERY un-Disney-like. I know that the spa is separately run, but really?

I'm not one to complain, but that was an experience that really took away from the otherwise excellent DCL experience.

I'm looking forward to seeing how the Rainforest Room stacks up on the Fantasy -- but I won't buy a week's pass!!

What other complimentary classes did they offer? Also, for the spin class, did the pedals allow you to clip in if you had clips for bike shoes? Just curious...

There were stirrups with buckles -- I didn't see anything for bike clips. You slipped your toe in the strap and adjusted it so that you were secure. There wasn't much instruction for newbies -- the guys on either side of me were very helpful.

The only other class was a morning stretch at 7:30 before the cyling class, and one yoga class that I saw, which was offered at 5PM on a port day. Not a great time.
