I was looking through a vintage Walt Disney World travel guide and learned that there was supposed to be a resort named Buffalo Junction that was gonna be built in the 90's and it was supposed to be a hotel with a western theme and it was gonna be part of an area of Fort Wilderness that was gonna feature shops and restaurants and was supposed to be modeled after a town from the wild west. I wonder what happened to Buffalo Junction because it never saw the light of day and never got built? Is it now the Wilderness Lodge today?

No, it was to be between Fort Wilderness and Wilderness Lodge. It was postponed in 1992.

I wonder why the Buffalo Junction Resort got postponed and never built? I guess Disney thought it would cost too much money and so they focused on other resorts instead
Thank you so much for your reply FreeTime

It wasn’t built, along with some other planned expansion items during the Disney Decade, due to a recession.
