Sorry if this has been answered before. I did a search and didn't find the answers I needed. We have ADR's for HDDR at 7:15. They said to check in 40 minutes prior (so I'll say 6:30). We will be at MK all day. I'm planning to take the boat to FW.

1) What time should we catch the boat to arrive at Pioneer Hall by 6:30? Are the boats normally packed with people going to the show? I don't want to take any chances on arriving late.
2) Is there a boat going back to MK after the show?

Thanks!!

I would plan on being at the boat launch at 6:00, that should give you plenty of time to get there. The boats will be waiting when the show lets out and they often also have buses going to the various resorts, too.

At that time the boat will most likely first stopt at WL and then go over to FW. I would try to get the the boat dock no later that 6:00. The boat back to MK should still be running after the show. Also, at that time of the day the boat should not be very crowded.

I am not sure about this as I have never done it personally but if there are buses that run from FW to DTD you might be better off to do that and then catch a bus back to your resort from there than to take the boat, walk all the way to the end to the buses and then back to your resort.

When we dine at a resort and cannot drive that is what we do as the bus stop at DTD is not nearly as hard to get to as going to the parks and then to the resort.

The transportation board could tell you if I am wrong.

In your situation you might want to budget for some cab rides even.

The boat back to the MK will be running until about 1 hour after the park closes. Since the boat dock is just a short walk from the HDDR, that is the easiest way home. The DTD bus from FW is out at the Outpost bus station and would require you to ride an internal FW bus to get there from the Settlement stop(the stop just past HDDR). If the MK is closed there will be buses waiting at the Settlement stop to get guests back to thier hotels, the buses will serve several hotels, so if you do this be sure to ask for directions and double check with the driver as you get on the bus.

HappyDznyCamper, thank you so much for the correction. I would have hated it had she found out I was wrong the hard way. I have only gone over that way during the day and did not know.

Slightly Goofy

NP FW bus stops are a bit confusing because there are 2 main stops for going to the parks(and DTD). Unfortunatly when FW was built there was no need for a large bus area and instead of building one and changing the "feel" of the Fort, they just split the routes into 2 seperate stops. Also traffic within the Fort is limited to buses and people going to and from their sites and areas outside of the fort. Just a tid bit of fun facts, the Oupost bus stop(the one by the parking lot) is were the old train depot was, the Settlement bus stop(by the HDDR) is the original bus stop were you used to get the bus to the TTC, back when the TTC was the hub of all buses.

mirthmaiden, see, told ya!! An expert showed up to save the day!!

HappyDznyCamper, I will save your directions just in case I should ever need them myself. The only times I have ever gone over that way is for lunch at the Trail's End Buffet before going into the parks.

I assume going there for dinner ( whispering caynon) is the same deal with time and all? Thanks

Whispering Canyon is at the Wilderness Lodge, HDDR is at Fort Wilderness Resort and Campground, two different resorts. They do share the boat for MK though. WL will have it's own bus stop for everything else, go out the exit by the gift shop and arcade to get to their bus stop.

Thanks. I kinda knew it was the same boat, but never went to WC before.

edited: Maybe I'm wrong now that I look at the map. Can't I take the boat to WL from MK for dinner? Thanks again

In the morning the boat goes FW, WL, MK, FW...in the afternoon the route reverses and goes FW, MK, WL, FW. Does that help?
