The rates have gone UP! SURPRISE! I noticed in DopeySharon's post that Disney called her and told her the plan was back. Curiosity got the best of me so I called the number on my BCV reservation. That person said they couldn't help me and put me through to CRO. They have never heard of such a plan, tried to tell me it didn't exist. I asked her to put me through to WL front desk (the real front desk), she gave me the number and I called again. At first the CM again acted like he had no clue what I was talking about and asked when I had last visited. He then said "let me see if anyone will answer in the Marina." He came back to the phone and reluctantly gave me the rates and warned that even though the plan is offered right now, that it can be removed at any time, and it would be best to check when I arrive at my resort. Anyway here are the rates....

Unlimited plan for 10 days- $239.00 + tax
Captains plan - $125.00 + tax (I guess still for 4 hours)

Just thought you might like to know. Its still a decent deal, IMHO.
I assume the DVC'rs still get a discount, I didn't ask that. (That probably would take another 30 minutes to find out!);)

Sorry, the captains plan was for 4 hours of use. I am assuming that it's still 4 hours.

ErinC...thanks for doing the detective work on this! So they upped the rates 20%, but did add back three more days of potential use. Still a workable deal for my group!

Thanks again for checking into this, and for posting your findings.:)

Edit to add: Oh, I just saw your part about a DVC discount. DVC never did get a discount on the family plan. It was a discounted plan offered to everyone staying at WDW, and DVC paid the same price as others. The explanation was that it was already a discounted plan, so they couldn't offer a discount on top of a discount.

Granny, I was trying to remember, wasn't it $199 , before it went away? I'm not sure how much the Captains plan was. I guess I didn't realize we didn't get a discount on the plan. I knew I had gotten it before on a pontoon boat rental , and a mouse boat rental, but I had never actually gotten the plan.

Good to know it's back!

We did the Captain's Plan in 2002. It was for 4 hours, any of the boats, for your family. It was $113. plus tax then with no DVC discount.

Thanks for sharing!

Does it have to be a consecutive 4 hours? We're going in May with 2 twenty something boys. (DS and a buddy). Could they use for a couple of hours, then come back the next day for another hour, etc? Or who it have to be all at once? I don't know which plan to use. The boys are the only ones who would use the plans and I don't want to buy more than will be used.

I never used it before (I just found out about it reading my Passporter a few months ago), but I'm pretty sure you can spread out the four hours over your stay.

A Rep. from Disney just called me about the Bike and Boat Plan and said it will be back, but not yet. She said as they are making the transition with the new boats they don't have enough to offer it right now. Once the transition is complete it will be back. I asked if she had an estimate of when it would return, she said they are uncertain, because they are totally dependent on the manufacturer of the new boats. So is it back yet or not?

 Don't know....I just replayed the message I got yesterday, and she definitely said that it is back....

We'll be at WDW May 1-9. We're staying at BCV, but I called WL a couple of weeks about the Boat plan and they put me through to someone at the marina. Here's what she had to say. The Captain's plan is 4 hours for up to 4 people. My notes have $115 and $133.13, so I'm not sure what that is. The Family Plan is $199 for LOS for a max of 4 guests. Now prices and plans may have changed in the 10-14 days since I talked to them or she could have been mis-informed. I guess we'll find out in about 3 weeks. A couple of people I talked to also said that these plans are for people staying at the respective resorts. I'm sure that there's some conflicting information out there until the plan is actually implemented.

I thought I read somewhere (probably here on this board) that they're replacing the personal watercraft boats with larger ones. They used to hold two, but I was thinking that the new ones hold three people. The WL marina lady said the boats hold two. They are called SeaRacers instead of Water Mice.

As I understand it, the watercraft can be rented at WL, GF, BC, Poly, Contemp, FW, DTD, Caribbean, and Coronado.

We're especially interested in the Captain's plan. This would work in our schedules well because we don't arrive until after lunch and don't want to waste a park hopper pass on a park, so we'll do the boat rentals on our first afternoon/evening there.

Yes, it was $199 plus tax when we went this past summer...about $220 total I think. When we went in June, it was for LOS regardless of how long you were there. For us, that was 9 days. Then later in the summer, they kept the same price but cut it to 7 days max.

Well, under that scenario, LOS is back, but the number of guests is down from 5 to 4!!

I guess we'll just have to hear from those who use this plan in the upcoming months. :)

I posted the following several weeks ago after speaking to a cm

talked to someone this afternoon at VWL. They did some checking and a CM called me back. Heres the scope.

DVC members will be able to rent as early as next week. Others soon after (I was so excited at this point I forget how soon after).

Prices

Captains plan $133.14 with tax

Family plan $254.54 with tax.

He was not certain but thought the family plan was good for 5 people up length of stay up to 10 days max.

Yea

The captions plan is for a total of 4 hours during your stay for as many as in your party. If you have two in your group that would be two hours each. 3 would be 1 hr 20 minutes each . 8 people could each ride for 30 minutes .

Thank you for the news. I haven't told the kids yet. We used it this past summer and it was great. We really got our money's worth. Last year I believe it had been advertised for 4 people on one contract but you could actually have 5. Also I assume you still have to have atleast one person over 18 or 21 on that contract. The kids probably used these boats for almost 3 hours every day for the 10 days we were there. We did it at the Wilderness Lodge which was great. I enjoyed the calm slow moving pontoon boats, those are also included.

Okay, I get it. A total of four hours of usage however you want to divide it between family members. Since we will be spending most of our time in the parks, this will work out well for us. I'll let you know how it works when we return.

Anyone remember what the minimum age/height is for a driver of the little boats? I got this info last year, but can't find it. I know my 11 1/2 is getting close, but I can't remember how close!

This link is to WDW official site. Look on the right side under:

I didn't know this...I thought each person could rent them for four hours! It's cheaper to rent them, without the plan....$32 an hour X 4 is only $128!

The plan is still worth the extra money.

Does anyone know if this will be available at BW or BC/YC??? I think it was exclusively at the MK resorts before.
