For Christmas - I am giving my parents 5 nights at BWV. Now I am trying to think of a clever way to present the reservations. I was thinking of refillable mugs.

Now my question - from what I could find, the mugs can be filled at Joe's Coffee cart, and Boardwalk Bakery. Are these convenient to the BWV rooms??? Or would I just be throwing away $22?? Any suggestions???

Janis

They are also refillable at the pool bar and the outside Pizza window on the boardwalk.. I have been using mine for the last 3 years and it's the best $11 I've spent...

Our family has three sets of mugs: Boardwalk, Beach Club and Wilderness Lodge.

Since I am usually the first one up I get them filled each morning (Be sure to label you mug). While I am getting my "free" coffee I usually find a number of not free items.

what can you get in the mugs - just coffe? Can you get tea or hot chocolate or something cold if it is hot out?

You can also refill them with soft drinks. We were able to refill ours at Seashore Sweets as well.

I always get iced tea. I can drink gallons of it. Last year we got two VWL mugs and we took them back this year. We fill them every day before we leave the resort and when we get back. My boardwalk mug is getting old, but I saw someone filling about 5 of them on our recent trip--the design with Donald and Daisy on it.

Alysa - yes, you can get hot chocolate, coffee, tea, lemonade, and soda. You can't get milk, and I don't think you can get juice.

Janis - You are a very good daughter! What a terrific gift for your parents! They will have a great time at BWV. Somehow, I don't think you'd be throwing away your money if you got 2 mugs. Our mugs paid for themselves many times over. JMHO. :D

Do they refill these mugs for free or for a reduced rate? I'm asking because I have a few mugs from prior trips that I might have to dig out ;)

Debbie,

You can refill for free once you have brought the mug. Make sure you bring the right mug that goes with the resort you are staying at! It can be an older mug, just so its from that resort.

I specifically remember the signs at OKW and Ft. Wilderness indicating that the mug was for the length of one's current visit. As a matter of fact, on our last trip to OKW they put some sort of sticker on the bottom (I think it was a sun) but only once did the CM look before refilling it.

I have always been under the impression that the mugs were for that visit only, and only on this board have I ever heard otherwise. I expect the CM's don't want to get into arguments with guests, so they usually will refill whatever without comment, but I definitely got the impression that Disney is trying to make it more clear that the mugs are not transferable from resort to resort or visit to visit. :)

Please hold onto loose items like glasses and hats and keep your hands and feet inside the vehicle at all times.:)

I most definitely wasn't trying to start a debate, I was simply stating what I read and heard at WDW, and which happens to make perfectly logical, fair sense to me -- that the "promotion" regarding the cups is for the length of that visit. :Pinkbounc

The mugs are without a doubt only good for the duration of the visit - on another thread there were some people reporting that a "year" sticker was put on their mugs

thanks

Thanks for all you replies. I was just trying to figure out how I could get a couple of mugs, then it dawned on me. I'm making my first trip "Home" this October. LOL Janis

Fred,
You are absolutely correct on this issue.
From Deb's site.

Most of the WDW Resorts have a "Refillable Mug" program in their food court area (aka Fast Food-Counter Service). You purchase a mug for around $10.99 and are entitled to "free" or less expensive refills for the duration of your stay. The refills are available from the beverage dispensers and usually include: coffee, sodas, ice tea, and hot chocolate. No other purchase is required to get your mug or your refills.
The mugs have the hotel logo on them and signs state that they are for use at that hotel for the duration of your visit.

For an avid coffee or soda drinker, especially with the 'free' refills, you can't beat it.

The table below outlines the refillable mugs available at the resorts and the purchase as well as refill price. Be sure to add 6% tax to the purchase price.

The above, hopefully in bold, pretty much states the policy.

It says in Gails post "for a "free" or reduced rate refill", so what's free and what do you get for a reduced rate?

And I'll buy a new mug at the BWV when I get there ;) :teeth:

It they are soda or coffee drinkers great go for it.

It is from Deb's site. OKW had/has a mug that is lower cost, but, you have to pay for the refills, and they are at a reduced rate.
I don't buy them, 10.99 pays for a lot of soda that can be put in the fridge. I have two arms, I can carry things, hence, this not a plan for me. :)
