Hi everybody,
we visited wdw last year for the first time. Going back next year and would like to spend more time visiting disney restaurants (we also have 3 wks in orlando villa compared to 2 wks last year and a week on the coast). Would like to visit the boardwalk - could someone tell me the best place to park please ?

We have 2 kids aged 10 and 9 could you please suggest good character dinners. we have decided on LTT already and may visit a few resort restaurants - doesn't have to be character if the food/ambience is nice. we liked hollywood and vine last year. we are not big on breakfast though - we may just do crystal palace for the experience though.

thanks in advance

When we went in October with 5 kids ranging from 8 to 16 years old they all loved Chef Mickeys at the Contemporary. The food was great for them all and the character interaction spot on :Pinkbounc

My two (9 and 13 yrs) also love O'hanas, I think the setting at the Polynesian and the fact you can watch Wishes and the Electric Water Pageant from the Beach there is great, but we've also done breafast there which is plated rather than buffet but loads of choice and they kept coming back asking us if we wanted more.

I also rate the Garden Grill, however, I haven't been there for a couple of years and know it did change last year so not sure whats happening there now.

As for parking at Boardwalk, just head for Boardwalk and use the hotel car-park, you may have to show ID. Just tell them you're having a look around and going to eat if anyone asks.

HTH

....me again David (working from home today) ;)

We are also staying at the Boardwalk (for the 1st time) this August - combining with our villa stay.

Parking - and bear in mind I have only actually visited there once - is ample and basically the main entrance is right in front of view, you walk over a bridge to get to reception etc. Although it can be a few minutes walk.
To be honest until I stay there, I am sure many other people can advise you better on this one.
Same probably goes for your dining question, we are doing our first Character Breakfast this year at Cape May which is located on the Beach Club Villas resort.

It depends on whether you want to dine at a resort, at a theme park and what sort of atmosphere you prefer, some of the places can be very noisy and some more quieter.
The link below may help but like I say there are a lot of restuarant experts on here and I am not one I am afriad - more of a KFC guy

Hi!
Ive enjoyed all of the character meals and not been disappointed with any of them. But my children were 2 and 3 when we visited at Easter. So maybe easier to please!!!
Crystal Palace was wonderful. It was quiet, did not feel rushed and the food was lovely.Lots of character interaction.
Yes,we love Chef Mickeys - especially if someone in your party has a birthday!!!
We went the Grand Floridian one evening. The food was the best, but characters didnt stay long.Make sure you see Fairy Godmother on way in.She was gone when wed finished and she isnt one of the characters who come to the table.

Have a great holiday,
Lynn

thanks everybody,

I'm quite partial to KFC myself - nothing wrong with that, although my DW wont let us eat fast food for 3 weeks !!

I have to reinforce the love of Chef Mickey's
Because it's based at Comtemporary it's got a really nice modern feel and has simple but effective theming. It's also sectioned quite nicely so that you don't get the noise of the whole restaurant and when we were there the characters did about four circuits in the hour it took us to eat and meet them all. For breakfast at least (never done dinner) It's a relaxed buffet style with coffee and juice bought to your table and refilled as often as you like. We were sat by the hot counter so we never really got as far as the fruit, cereals and cakes but the scrambled eggs with salmon and the mickey shaped waffles were firm faves with our family (5 of us, me being the youngest and turning 18 that day!).

I have to agree it is fun if there is a birthday in the party...lots of surprises, but even if there isn't a birthday within your group, if there is one in the restaurant you will be encouraged to join in and sing happy birthday the Disney way (which involves lots of action as the characters can't talk unless they're 'face' characters).

I've also heard good things about Liberty Tree....but never dined there myself so don't qualify to comment!

Hi David

Parking at the Boardwalk is not a problem and very easy :) Don't forget that if you are at Epcot or MGM you could take a boat ride to the Boardwalk on one of the Friendship boats. We did this on our first trip, we went for something to eat at Beaches and Cream which is situated at the Beach Club Resort.

For your Character Dinners there are some great ones, Chef Mickey's at The Contemporary Resort, Crystal Palace at the Magic Kingdom or even the Cape May Buffet at the Beach Club Resort.

If you like fried chicken then I would certainly recommend 50s Prime Time Cafe in MGM.
