How is the shopping/food at the boardwalk? How can we get there other than going thru EPCOT? Is it worth going to see it?? We have been going to WDW for years and have never gone there so maybe this year.:confused3

If you want to dine there or visit ESPN Club or Jelly Rolls Dueling-Piano Bar, or see a few
street performers in the evening, its just fine.

You can ride a Disney bus from Magic Kingdom or Animal Kingdom.

You can ride a Friendship or walk from DHS.

We went for the first time on our last trip (Sept 2008). We ate dinner at the Beach Club's Cape May Cafe (and parked in their lot), then walked the Boardwalk after dinner. We walked the whole circle from Beach Club to the Boardwalk and back around and it was a nice walk. We didn't stop at any shops, but stopped to see a magician perform and just wandered. My toddler was asleep in the stroller and we had a nice after-dinner walk.

the boardwalk area is a nice place to visit and even nicer place to stay :thumbsup2

Ive gone there a couple times. Its a very nice looking area, but there was nothing we really wanted to go into there. The shopping is near non existent, there are a few food options if you want to do that though.

I'd say it looks very nice, and may be worth the time for some and not for others.

The best time is in the evening when they have sideshow acts.

We got our DVC there, mainly since we love the food and wine festival and could walk to Epcot. We also like the Big River Brewing Company for food and drinks. You can go, walk around and see if you like the ambiance.

We stayed for a couple of night for my OH's birthday and loved it. The atmosphere was great and it really came alive at night.

I love the Boardwalk. I don't know about the shopping, but there are a few good places to eat. And Jellyrolls is worth checking out, its a great way to end the day.

I stayed there and agree with one of the PP's, its a great place to stay. Centrally located for Epcot and DHS and a short drive to MK, AK and DTD.

We've never been either...but plan on making a stop on our next trip...I think the key is to go at night...seems like there is more to do then. Are you traveling with just adults or kids too? I thought my kids would like the street performer aspect of it...but I'd probably save places like Jellyrolls for a grown up evening.

Thanks. Glad you like the map(s)!

I found them lying around on my hard drive. ;)

if you will participate with what's offered there. We always dine there for one day of our trip. If it's a family trip it's great to do the bicycle built for family excursion around the place. The side acts are not as plentiful as they use to be; so, don't expect much there. I do believe Boardwalk is more adult oriented overall.

We like to do late lunch or early dinner there. We do it that way; so, we can boat it back to Epcot or Holllywood Studios for Illuminations or Fantasmic afterwards. If you are doing Disney transportation you do need to take into consideration your return trip to your own resort; so, this works out the best. A second option is to go to Downtown Disney on the same day after your visit to Boardwalk. In this case it's best to do a late dinner and then go to DD. From there you can catch a bus back to your resort.

I feel it's neat to experience each deluxe resort. I especially like Christmastime; so, you can see all the decorations. We ride the monorail and take it to the resorts along the park stretch and connect with MK or Epcot for those places. You may need to make a connection to the transportation center depending on what you do next. I probably will never stay at the Grand Floridian, but I've been on the yacht there, had afternoon tea, and dinner at Narcossee's and 1900 Park Fare so far. Staying in the lobby at Christmastime is fun there. There's the adult sized gingerbread house, Santa at specified times near the tree, an Orchestra playing holiday music or a piano doing it between acts. Taking a walk outside is neat, too. At night it's neat to go to the transportation dock and watch Wishes there. I could go ond on, but each deluxe resort has something to offer without staying there.

So, do you think it's worth it to go with kiddos (don't know about OP's but mine are 14 & 9)....for a few hours? We're thinking of skipping DTD this trip...really everything I've ever bought there I can find at the parks for the most part, and we went 3 different times last year...so I thought the BW might be something different to try?

Just a minor correction on your map, Robo...item #20 listed as "Gazebo" is actually called Sea Breeze Point.;)

While most people wouldn't care (or notice)...it IS a popular spot for Disney weddings (and where I got married):lovestruc

My husband and I went when we were there without the kids last year and we ate pizza and walked around a bit, I think I even got an ice cream cone. It was at night so it was romantic and all but our main reason we went was to go to Jellyrolls(which btw, for us was just okay). I think it's worth checking out once but nothing I would race or rearrange my vacation around.

Just my opinion tho, I'm sure others would disagree.

T.
