Boardwalk Villas studio Sell Me!!

We had Wilderness Lodge booked (2 rooms standard)for our stay but have stayed there twice..so we where looking for something different...we where able to get the Boardwalk Villa Studio rooms for about $1000 more...please help me decide if I made a right choice...any information about the studios would be helpful....we have never stayed in a vacation home...tell me all you can please!!

We rented BWV studios in January and loved it! Enough so that I'm unsure I could ever go back to a moderate resort.

The studios felt very spacious and we were fortunate enough to get rooms that overlooked the Green, so we had partial boardwalk/lake views and huge balconies. The 'normal' balconies have about enough rooms for 2 chairs - ours would easily hold 8! The rooms themselves perhaps need a bit of an update, the decor seemed a little tired and the colors were not my personal taste. But the furniture and fixtures were all in top-notch condition. We felt very comfortable in the studio and had lots of rooms to spread out.

The only downside is that in the villas, you do not get daily housekeeping. Considering the deal I got by renting, I was more than happy to straighten up the bed every morning! We also had to take out the garbage once or twice.

The resort is beautiful and is just a fun place to be. 5 minute walk to Epcot, 10 minutes to MGM. The ferry is a little slower, but if you have the time, it's a nice way to end the evening. We really enjoyed Spoodles and ESPN and the bakery had great breakfast sandwiches.

I can't imagine anyone NOT liking the BWV!

This is only true if you rent points. If you booked your studios through Disney, then you get housekeeping every day, just like you do in any of the resorts.

Are you going from two WL rooms to one studio, or two studios? I couldn't tell from your post. Two WL rooms would have given you room for 8 people and two bathrooms. A studio only has one queen bed and a sofa bed, and one bathroom. The studios are great for two people, and OK for four so long as two don't mind the sofabed (we've used the sofabed and it was comfortable, but not as comfortable as an actual bed). With the sofabed folded up, the room seems larger because of the extra floorspace. Having the microwave and larger refrigerator are nice too (the fridge is 2-3 times larger than the ones at WL).

The biggest drawback to BWV is the long walk from the elevator. Otherwise, it's in a great location and a lot of fun.

You just can't beat the location. We have been staying here for about 8 years now and each year we say let's try someplace else and then end up deciding there is nothing better.

If you like Epcot or MGM it is so nice. We just walk on over whenever we feel like it. Even for just an hour at night. Plus if you stay for the fireworks you don't have ot fight any crowds leaving on a bus or getting out of the parking lot.

Rooms with a view directly over the Boardwalk seem to be preferred by many, but there have been some complaints about noise. They are also difficult to come by.

The Village Green view was perfect, relatively quiet but still able to catch some sights on the boardwalk. Also, close enough to the elevators but not so close that the noise from them was a problem. If you can get the village green, 3rd floor, you'll get the extra large balconies!

I stayed at the Boardwalk Villas studio for my Disney Wedding/Short Honeymoon.

We were in room 2065. It was perfect!! This studio room is the first on on the right when coming off of the Lobby. It has a huge balcony and I think great placement. The only small downside was that the balcony was right next to the lobby veranda and guests could see us as we sat on the baclony. But it was nice for us because we had a lot of "congratulations" and well wishes. People knew we had gotten married from our hats and other matierals.....(Big white dress hanging in the window).

If you are using DVC points (or renting), your reservation will be either standard, pool/garden or boardwalk view.

If you are booking through CRO, there are no separate view categories, it will be more than likely pool/garden. Boardwalk view is reserved for points only and members usually book up standard view (less points).

A good studio request for pool/garden is Village Green view, which is in between the villas and the inn on the boardwalk side.
