We are going to stay at the BW in two weeks and I had asked for a for the boardwalk view. Does the view overlooking the boardwalk allow you to see Illuminations from the patio? What other recomendations might you have for us, this is our first visit to the BW.

First, you should realize that only 20% of the rooms actually have a Boardwalk view, so don't be too disappointed if you don't get it. That said, I'm not sure you could see much of Illuminations anyway, except maybe the high fireworks. We had a wonderful view of the quiet pool and community hall in October and could hear all of Fantasmic and could see the high fireworks and some flashes of light.

...but we just returned from WDW with a Boardwalk room with a view. I have seen on these boards how noisy these rooms can be. I thought that I can handle a little noise so tried it. The noise comes from the inconsiderate people mulling around at 2-3 AM. Also deliveries are made throughout the night to the Boardwalk's shops, restaurants... They use the noisiest carts imaginable. They woke me up several times. In the future we will return to the non-view rooms. And as long as I'm on my soapbox I was surprised how dirty our room was. I'm not the cleanest person in the world but the lamps were very dusty and the windows had not seen a Windex bottle for quite awhile. If I were staying in a $39 a night Days Inn I would expect this. But from a place that starts charging for rooms somewhere in the $250 a nite range I expect more. I hope this does not cause a problem for you. Good Luck.

Your view of fireworks depends on how high up you are. You won't be able to see the lights that are close to ground level at all, but the higher ones are pretty visible, the higher your floor, the better your view. We have been in rooms that gave us a view of both the Illuminations fireworks and then some of the higher shots from the MK.

I'm surprised at the complaint about noise. We've had Boardwalk view at least 4 times(varying floors), and never have had a noise problem (and DH is a very light sleeper). Once the doors to the patio are closed we've never heard a thing except the occassional toot of the boat horn .

For what it's worth, we've gotten the Boardwalk view EVERY time we've requested preferred.

We always request the BW view and we have usually gotten our wish. From the higher floors you can see alot of the fireworks and some of the laser show. The view of the lake and the boardwalk though is even better. I am a terrible sleeper and I have never experienced noise on the BW. We always ask for the uppper floors and maybe it is quieter up high. Other thoughts for a first vist:
- The community hall room is great to visit. Games, tapes, etc and it is usually uncrowded.
- The bakery is very good but very expensive.
- the walk to and from MGM is relaxing and scenic. After Fantasmic, you can usually walk back to the resort much quicker then people taking a boat.
- When you take the buses back from the park, get off at the Swan and Dolphin and walk across the bridge. Otherwise you take an extra 15 minutes making other stops before you reach the BW.
-When EPCOT closes, the walk back to the BW is especially nice since everyone heading to the front is caught in a large crowd.
- The restaurants on the BW are very good.
- If you have small children, there are tubes and noodles at Community hall for them, to use in either pool.
- If you plan on renting boats, look into the boat plan at the Y&BC. It is a very good value if yu plan on using the boats for more then a few hours.

Have fun...Rich

hi: we've never gotten the boardwalk view, even when booking at 11 months with that as the first request and non-smoking as the second request. oh well, luck of the draw.
