I continue to monitor the rehab project at the Boardwalk. Although I can't say it affects my enjoyment of any time spent at the Boardwalk, I do continue to wonder about a few things:
1. How long has it been going on? It seems forever.
2. What takes sooo long? Even my dear husband's house projects don't last that long.
3. What exactly are they doing behind that drape? Some of us can't fathom the activity happening back there.
4. Will they just have to start over again when they are all done? I hope not.

Again, just pondering "the project."

P.S. 5. How long did it take to build the "Boardwalk"?

Many "Disney" regards to all!!

They are replacing the siding on the Boardwalk Villas. It was not the grade called for in the plans and began fading almost immediately. The contractor is eating the cost of the replacement- not BWV members.

I think it is finishing the second year of the project at this time. but it does take longer than it did for the original construction since they must erect the scaffolding for each section, remove the old siding (without damaging the underlying structure), repair any incidental damage, place the new siding, repaint the trim and remove the scaffolding for each section- all while allowing the resort to operate at near normal levels.

When complete, the siding should look like new for many years without having to repeat the process.

While this is a massive project, doing it in sections is far superior, IMHO, to shutting down the whole resort to do the project all at once.

Enjoy!
