Well, we changed our ressies for this May1-8 from YC concierge, to BWI, standard room. We did this because, my lil sister who is 10yrs. old will be joining myself, DH and 4yo DD, so there goes some money for her and my DH couldn't justify the extra money for concierge for this visit.(YC standard rooms were booked) While it bothered me to change ressies, I am glad we are staying at one of the Epcot resorts. Please tell me the BWI is a good choice. Is the pool fun for kids? I know SAB is said to be the best, but how is the BW pool? We are all night owls, so I thought the nightlife on the boardwalk would be fun for us. For those who have stayed here before, what room or section should I request? We would like to be close to the walkway to Epcot, but close to the buses and pool. Can we rent boats here?(like water mice?) I would just like to here opinions or advice for those who have stayed here before. Thanks!

I haven't stayed on the in side in a few years but a safe request is to be close to the elevators. You can be VERY far away as we were on our first visit. Buses and the walkway to Epcot are off the lobby. The pool is cool. I've never been to SAB but I like Luna Park.

I was in the courtyard building near the quiet pool, I loved it.

We were booked standard room with our cruise package - I faxed my usual 'nice' request - asking for 'water view, if at all possible' (no harm in asking!) and we got a great room above the bakery overlooking the boardwalk. We loved our stay at BWI (especially my 12 yo DS) he loved the pool and the slide - he really loved walking around on the boardwalk. The location was great for both Epcot and MGM (the parks we spent most of our evenings in - so getting back to our room at night was a breeze) -we will definitely return there - going to AKL this year just to experience something new. Hope you love it as much as we did!

I am a huge fan of the Boardwalk resort, both sides. I love the pools , Luna and both quiet pools, I think the Inn quiet pool is the prettiest quiet pool on property and even if the place is packed there is hardly ever anyone there. The slide at the Luna pool is great fun!!If you are going to rent any boats you'll need to go across the lagoon to the YC and rent from the marina there. My DH and DS did a fishing trip from there and had a great time!!Our last trip to the Inn we had a standard view room and we could see Illuminations and Spaceship Earth from our balcony. We almost booked the YC for our trip this April/May but decided we would look across the lagoon each night and wish we were staying at the Boardwalk. The atmosphere is very festive and exciting,I think children of any age would enjoy it!!Everything seems very convenient to me . Many people on these boards complain about how far the elevators are from some rooms but I'll take that any day for the ease of walking to Epcot, MGM and the whole package at BW. You'll be very happy with your choice!!

Can't give you location request but have you thought about the studios? We just booked my parents into a studio to be next to us (We belong to DVC) and the studios were the sameprice as the Inn. With the kids it might be nice to have the "mini" kitchen. Just a thought. The Boardwalk is beautiful and your "kids" will have a wonderful time on the Boardwalk at night.

Would YC concierge charge you extra for your lil sis? If not, wouldn't it be cheaper in the long run because you would be saving on breakfast, snacks and beverages for her? Just wondering?

brittsmum1998 I have thought about the studio, but isn't there only 1 bed and a sleeper sofa? I would really want 2 queen beds. Please correct me if I'm wrong.
Alice Sr. Yc concierge will not charge extra for my lil sis. The reason why we can't justify the extra money for it is because we want to do extra things with her and really "go all out" to make this a really special trip for her. We probably won't be at the resort too much to enjoy all the offerings at the concierge lounge, and my DH and I are not big breakfast eaters and the kids are happy with a poptart!! This past year has been really hard on my sister, our parents(after 31yrs.) are getting divorced and she was also diagnosed with Torrets syndrome. So, we want to save some money on the room and go to all the parks and maybe Cirque.
Can someone tell me if the view some have said they got of Spaceship Earth, was this a standard room? I would really like that view, what should I request?

Desnik, I am one of the ones who had a Spaceship Earth view. We had a standard room on the third floor, #3282. I am sure if you specifically asked for the view of Spaceship Earth that there are many rooms available in the standard category that would have this view. I think your 10 yr old sister will love both the room at the Inn and the overall feeling of the resort...it is just plain fun being there.Add the stuff going on on the Boardwalk at night, the pools, the surrey bikes you cannot go wrong here.

I've never stayed at the Boardwalk so I can't offer any advice... What a wonderful big sister you are...I just wanted to wish you and your family a magical vacation!:)

The pool is great. Cool big slide. Not as fancy as SAB but a very nice pool.

You will have a great time.

What a wonderful big sis you are!! You are correct...the studios do have a queen bed and pullout sofa but from what I hear they are extremely comfy. I'm sure your sis will love the pool and I'm sure she'll be thrilled to push her young niece in her stroller along the boardwalk day or night. I can understand $$ being a big issue. Its not cheap and the gift you are giving your sister will be well worth it. AFter all, switching from yacht club to Boardwalk IMHO is not a sacrifice at all ;) :D I wish you all the luck in the world and HOPE that you get the most wonderful view available to make this vacation the most wonderful memory of your young sisters life. Take care. And have a BLAST!!

I don't pay much attention to room location but I will say that we've been to the Boardwalk a few times and I've always been happy with our room and view. You will enjoy the boardwalk in general and the places to eat are lots of fun. The entertainment at night is great once the parks close so if you are night owls you will love that. SAB is a great pool but so is the pool at the Boardwalk. And SAB can sometimes be really crowded and it is so big that I get a little nervous with little kids. You can really keep an eye on them at the Boardwalk pool and they love the slide. I think you will be happy with your choice and I know you will have a wonderful time.

The BWI is lovely. You haven't made a mistake at all!

Anne

Thank you all for your kind words and great advice!! You all have made me sooo excited about BWI. :bounce: :bounce: :bounce:
Only 30 days to go!!

I'll just join the chorus and say BWI is soooo nice. We loved the pool for lots of reasons: cool theme, nice poolside bar, friendly lifeguards, large enough pool to feel spacious but contained in your viewing area, and of course.... the slide! We took our kids (6 and 9) over to BC to look at SAB and they actually liked Luna Park better. We had a waterview so I can't help there... we were close to elevators facing the rose garden/BWV side of Cresent Lk. Our room was 5269 so I suppose 5270 or something across the hall was standard view. The night time atmosphere on the BW is great, your 10 yr. old sis will love all the shows and entertainers as they really involve the kids. BWBakery is a huge asset for breakfast and dessert treats! You really can't go wrong at this resort IMO!:)

I have one more question. The standard room, with a view of Epcot, is this on the opposite side of the main pool? I'm just trying to figure out if it is a hike from one side to the other, I might want to decide which is more important and either ask for a room near the pool or with a view of Epcot.

I love this thread because we are going to be there in 20 days!!! Have you seen any of the maps of the Boardwalk resort?? I know there is one on this website...www.wdwinfo.com and it should give you an idea of where the standard rooms are. Anything facing the Boardwalk is considered waterview and I am not sure about the rooms around the Inn's quiet pool. Any room on the Inn side makes for a walk over to the main pool, the ones at the ends of the corridors being the furthest away. Being close to the elevator would make your walk the most convenient. Once you get the lay of land so to speak it is very comfortable and easy to get around.Certainly no further than it would be at any other resort and probably closer than many.
