Boardwalk Huge Balcony

Years ago, those villas were categorized as BW view, but so many guests complained that they were only “partial” BW view that DVC reclassified them into the P/G view category!

I’ll admit we were among them - booked BW view and got one of the 1BR on the corner by the Screen Door. DH complained at the front desk, but no other BW view 1BR were available. The next day they called and offered to move us, but by then we had realized that villa was a little larger than the usual 1BR, so we stayed. Unfortunately, we didn’t get to enjoy the large balcony, because they were painting the outside of the building and had it blocked off. I would love to get that 1BR again!

Interesting. I didnt know that. We were in 5057 in August and wondered how the pts were the same as the rooms across the hall that face the pool/Hollywood Studios. In my opinion, those P/G that face the pool should be less pts where the rooms that are BW facing should be "partial" boardwalk view.

You may or may not have noticed that points for BW view and P/G view are the same. That’s because originally those villas were in one booking category called Preferred, and BW view was just a request. After multiple owner meltdowns at the front desk due to not having that request granted, DVC separated them into two booking categories, BW view and P/G view, but left the points the same.

Strange that ppl melted down over the garden green view. I prefer it over the BW view by far. It’s just…. So nice. If they could guarantee that view, I would jump on it over a boardwalk view any day.

All the pool/garden was the same category as the rooms that directly faced the boardwalk, not just the Village Green rooms.

They weren't necessarily melting down over Village Green view. In those days, if you booked Preferred (as opposed to Standard) view, you might get BW view, or you might get a view of the quiet pool, or a view of Swan & Dolphin, or any view that's now Pool/Garden view. You could be placed anywhere that was not Standard view. And people would get very angry if they didn't get a BW view, just because they had requested it. So DVC made BW view a booking category, so that people knew when they booked whether they had BW view or not and didn't have to wonder whether they'd get it or not. I know there were several visits before that change when we requested BW view but didn't get it, and we were disappointed but didn't make a scene at the front desk.
