Boardwalk Bride's PJ Morocco/Canada/Attic/SCP updates 01/09!!

I don't think I have ever had the flu, so I thought I would be fine...but than I got a government of Canada warning in my mailbox that it can still get me, even with a strong immune system..........I'm scared :scared1:

Yeah, this flu is a tricky one. It attacks seemingly healthier people because it did evolve from a swine flu virus, hence, our bodies have no idea how to fight it off. Instead, being the dumb little cells that they are, the kind of attack everything in your body, good or bad! Silly cells... ;) That is why the symptoms are far more severe than those of the regular flu. At least with the seasonal one, our cells know which things to attack!

But :wizard::wizard::wizard: that you don't have it!

And those shoes are just too cute! They look really comfy too! But enjoy your break from the wedding planning! Everyone needs one every once in awhile.

Sometimes it's best to step back and take a break. I know I did that a couple of months ago when I got really overwhelmed. Not saying you should, but maybe start a new PJ after you take a breather and think about what you really REALLY want to keep/do/get rid of, etc. Just a thought! :wizard: Pixie dust for you! :goodvibes

Oh Karen. Im so sorry you are having a rough time right now. Take a break and hopefully everything will work out. I'll definitely keep you in my thoughts and prayers!

Thanks ladies! I think I did have a bit of the flu, but I am good at taking care of myself, so I fought it off quickly. However, I ended up drinking wayyyy to much last night, so I am back to feeling sick, lol, my own fault.

Well, things have turned around pretty quickly (hence my quick return to my PJ). I guess people around us feel guilty when they hurt us, so I think the family issues are resolving themselves. I also was offered a two month contract through a professor at the school, so at least I know I will have a job for a bit, and it gives me more time to find a full time job. Plus, this will be great for my resume, and will help me make contacts. The only bad thing is that I wouldn't be able to start a job until at least feb., and than I would need to ask for 2 weeks off in April to get married! Ugh!

Anyway, we still are not sure what we will do for our wedding...where cuts need to be, etc. I think it will be a last minute call on a lot of things, since so much can change. We are def keeping all the venues though, since we have put down the deposits.

I also ordered my chapel length Mantilla veil the other day. I will post pics when it gets in!

Thanks for the support ladies! I am going to work my but off to make our dream wedding a reality :goodvibes

I'm sorry you've been having a hard time with stuff sweetie. I think that you have wiggle room and that not matter what you cut out of the wedding it will STILL be an amazing wedding!
I hope the family situation is getting better. keep us posted hun!

Thanks Katie :goodvibes I find this so hard to plan, because there are just way to many options!! Our at home reception is already planned, because you basically don't have an option. You just pick which room, and what type of menu, and that is it! LOL And the package comes with nice decorations, so I will probably not even bring my own. Now just to plan my real wedding!

Kathleen (my coordinator) is going to send the new DP menus to me, so that may help cut some costs. My "cocktail party" menu that I currently have at Morocco doesn't included drinks, so I need to find a DP menu I like, since it comes with coffee, tea, iced tea, etc. I don't really like a lot of sweets, so I'm hoping I can just find one that has some decent stuff, and mix it with a huge cheese tray (LOVE cheese).

School is slowing down a bit. Just 2 more papers to write, and I am done my courses, and all I need to do is finish my major paper, which is almost done, and I will have my Masters of Science!! I keep feeling bad for spending sooo much money on disney, that I shouldn't be spending, but I just need to remember how much DF and I have accomplished, and I really feel we deserve this celebration. We both barely finished undergrad, and somehow we are managing to do really well in our masters program.

Oh, and I convinced our "couple" friends to stay an extra night in disney, so I am hoping that we can do Hoop de Doo with them before they leave. I am helping the book this week, so once they have a confirmation #, I'm calling back and trying to book it again! I love fried chicken and sangria :rotfl:

Hi Karen! Glad to hear things are starting to turn around for you. It will be nice if your friends stay an extra day so you could do the Hoop de doo. I've never been but heard its fabulous! Also, good luck with the papers and finishing your Masters. That is a great accomplishment! Congrats in advance! I completely understand feeling bad about spending money on the wedding. I often get stressed and think I should cut more from my BEO or maybe we shouldn't do this or that but then I think about other things, like how far we've come and where we are at now and I feel better and agree with you. This is something we deserve! So keep that chin up and don't feel bad. You deserve it. :thumbsup2 You've worked hard in school and deserve the wedding of your dreams!

oh and PS... I love the new shoes!:lovestruc

Aww, I hope everything works out and that your cat gets better soon . I have a cat too and just thinking about anything happening to him makes me upset. So sending lots of pixie dust your way. :wizard:

The money thing also stinks. We're paying for our own wedding as well and some days I get really stressed about it too. No matter what, your wedding will be wonderful! I know sometimes it's hard because on these boards we see so many great things, and I think get a few too many ideas sometimes ;). Most of your guests will just be amazed to be in Disney and just that will make it magical.

That's great that you will have some friends staying a little longer so you can see HDDR. :goodvibes

I totally understand how you feel about the money. We are also paying for our own wedding and none of my friends understand because they had their parents pay for their entire weddings. I started tutoring a few hours a week for extra money and Danny just got a second job. Our friends scoff at it but Im really proud of us, we can do this and it's just the first test among many!

Don't let it stress you!, Choose what's important and can't live without when you look back at it and then make cuts to everything else. We wanted a Wishes wedding, and could have afforded it but why spend the extra $$ when we can do something just as nice for half the price?

Glad to see you back on your PJ! Hopefully you will be able to work out a menu for your dessert party that you like and fits your budget!

Thanks for all the support ladies!!:goodvibes

I think one of the other problems that I am dealing with (aside from money and regular life issues) is that there are just way too many options! I keep thinking, maybe we should have a wishes wedding, and have all of our events in Epcot. Or maybe we should have an evening reception in AK. I keep seeing what everyone else has, and I want what they have. I go through phases, like I loved Sago Cay, and now I don't, but than I will prob love it again, if that makes sense? I am seriously the most indecisive person ever, so having a wedding somewhere were the possibilities are endless was probably not the best choice :rotfl:

I keep going back and forth on whether or not to have the Epcot DP on the wedding night, or the night before (I don't know if I am even allowed to change though). I really want to wear my dress in Epcot, but it seems to make more sense to use Sago Cay on the wedding night...I don't know!

I think I will just keep the same plan for now, since it is still pretty fantastic (in my opinion anyway :goodvibes)

Thanks again ladies!!

OMG I totally know how you feel!! That's why Df and I finally sat down and said, Ok...what do WE really want. That's when we came up with our current plan. There are so many great options at Disney it's hard sometimes to pick something. I think your plans now are wonderful and they give you a little of everything...but you guys have to be happy and love your choices!!!

There are so many choices it is hard to pick. On my walk home from work I like to think up my dream Disney wedding where money is no object, I've worked out about 3 different wedding days because all the options are great.

It is sooo hard to pic!! If I had what I really wanted, I would def us animal kingdom in something, since it is really our style (the wilderness aspect of it anyway). I love Sago Cay, but I am so not the Victorian princess type. I think I would love to go there for someone elses wedding, I just am not sure if it reflects us. I know it is weird, since I honestly think it is so beautiful, it's hard to explain!!

Excuse my rant from yesterday. Df and I had a long talk, and we think the plan we have booked really is fab and it works well for us, budget wise and everything. Yah, Sago Cay/GF doesn't really reflect our style, but I think it would be a nice touch for the wedding day. And as much as I want to walk into Epcot with my dress on, I also like the idea of being more secluded and private anyway in Sago. Plus, keeping Epcot as a welcome/rehearsal party means I have an excuse to buy another fabulous dress! I think I will get a really spiffed up shorter white one, so it is kinda bridal like!

Glad you were able to work it out :thumbsup2

Should we start placing bets on the next thing you change your mind on?? :lmao:

I want to say no, I won't change my mind, but look at my past :rotfl:

My mom thinks it is something to do with me being an only child? I've always had a lot of freedom to change, and I guess I still live by that. I told my planner today I am sticking to this plan and that's that!!! She informed me that a lot of venues are booked for the other days anyway, so no matter what, this is it! And I am beginning to finally realize how lucky I am to have everything I do :goodvibes When it comes down to it, I would be happy getting married anywhere in disney and eating at any restaurant, so everything else is just fantastic!

I can't make up my mind on the bridal portraits.....I cannot decide if it is really worth $1000 to get a few pics in front of the castle in MK. I am not a huge disney fan, neither is DF. But I do really love disney, and I do think it would be an amazing opportunity. What do you ladies think...is it worth it??? I think either way we will do Epcot or AK photos, since it is more our style.

Do I sleep in a bit longer, and get ready with my ladies....or do I wake up and get castle shots....so confused :confused3

We talked about this a lot last night. We finally decided the reviews for DPS were too iffy to spend $1000 or $1300 on. Also, Eric is not an early riser, lol, so he was fine with not doing it. A part of me still wishes I could have pictures done in front of the castle and Everest but $1300 could pay for a lot of other things!

I think it really is a once in a lifetime opportunity, however I don't think it's worth $1,000 and the stress on your wedding day. I know for me just being able to get married in Disney is an experience I won't forget. And while I've seen some gorgeous pictures, I've also seen some people come out wishing they hadn't spent the money. So here I am to confuse you even more! Haha! :rotfl:

I have to use DPS anyway for our ceremony, so I didn't even factor it in. I am just a person who needs lots of sleep! I just think maybe for $1000 there is something else we can get (not wedding related) that would be more useful in the end.

I agree....it is an experience that very few of us can have since we are getting married in disney. But I don't think that alone is reason enough to do it. I think I'll leave it for awhile, and decide closer to the date.
