Boardwalk area Resturants - Big River or Spoodles?

Has anyone tried Big River Grille & Brewing Works in the Boardwalk area? Is it possible to get in here without an ADR? I know DH won't want to be held to a "schedule" so I was looking for good food (we loves Mahi Mahi sandwiches and steak) that I didn't need to pre-plan for. This would be for next Thursday. What is everyones opinion of this place and what are my chances of getting seated without waiting longer than 20-30 mins? Also is it better to take the boat or walk from MGM? We won't be making it to Epcot or MK this trip.

The walk to the Boardwalk area from the Disney Studios is about 15 minutes. The boat ride would take about the same amount of time.

Please don't waste your time or money on Big River. Once you get inside it's clear to see it is not a Disney restaurant in any way, except for the prices. Too many good places to eat in the Epcot resort area to waste your time at Big River. Check out the menus on allearsnet.com for the Boardwalk, Yacht Club, Beach Club, Swan and Dolphin.

You can usually get in without an ADR. However we were disappointed in it when we were there. The food wasn't bad but overall we weren't impressed by it. We probably won't be going back any time soon.

We ate there in the summer of 2004 and it was pretty good. For the price though, I think I would try somewhere else. I don't think they take ADRs. Either way, we didn't have one and only waited a few minutes.

Well, we weren't impressed with either Spoodles or Big River Grille, although the beer at the brewery was good. Look at allearsnet and check out the menus for the YC/BC area, or try Flying Fish (I've heard really good things about that place, but we didn't have time on this last trip to give it a try).

How about the ESPN Club on the Boardwalk? They don't take ADRs and you can either wait for a table in the dining room or just seat yourself in the bar area (which also has tables) Our family enjoys it there and I know they have Mahi Mahi sandwiches and steak.

I have enjoyed dinner at both Spoodles and the Flying Fish

Spoodles portions are large - decor is casual whereas Flying Fish is more elegant in decor

I thought the food was yummy in both places

I might have to try the ESPN Club ~ we don't mind sitting at the bar area. I really want to check out the Boardwalk area and this seems like a perfect time. We like the casual atmosphere as well even though we LOVE Concourse Steakhouse (the only TS restaurant besides Chef Mickey I have tried ~ we normally catch something on the run CS) I have heard good things about ESPN Club so maybe I will try that.

Also paras4ri I wanted to say GO STEELERS (I really don't follow football ~ more into NASCAR as is my DH ~ but my DH's team since he was little has been the Steelers so I hope they do it!! )

Spoodles is great. Will not return to Big River Grill again. Twice is enought.

Spoodles is really good. We were there last week. The atmosphere was very nice. The service we had was fantastic. The food was really good with big portions. We were seated right next to a window so we could see the Boardwalk. We even got to see some of the Fireworks off in the distance. I would definitely go there again!

We really, really like Spoodles. Usually can get in without ADR and if you time it right for dinner, you can hang out on the boardwalk and check out the entertainment!
