We are going to get to the dock really early. We want to be among the first getting on the ship. These questions have probably been asked before?

What time can you check your luggage?

What time can you start boarding?

Will may luggage be in our room as soon as we board the ship or will there be a delay?

What is the first thing that you recommend us doing when we get on the ship?

We arrived at 10:15 and were among the first in the terminal. We were fifth in line to board.

The luggage is delayed. Ours was in our room by 2 pm. It varies though.

First thing to do when you get on board is take care of any ressies for Palos and the spa.

The port does not open until 10:30am, so getting there much earlier than that is probably not worth your while. Boarding generally begins at about 12:15pm, but could be later depending on many factors, mostly on when the ship arrived that morning and how long it took to clear Customs and Immigration.

I believe that you can check your luggage when the port opens, but not before.

Your luggage may be in your room when you board, but likely will not. It has been once for us in four cruises. I'd pack a bathing suit in your carry-on if you want to use the pools or hot tubs on the first day. The luggage should be in your room by early afternoon, but on occasion, it isn't there by early dinner. The rooms themselves are not always ready when boarding begins. They usually tell you that they'll be ready at a given time, say 1:30pm, and direct you to the buffets for lunch.

What I'd recommend doing after you get on the ship is to hit the lunch buffet. It will be both in Parrot Cay and at the buffet (Topsiders/Beach Blanket) on deck 9. I like deck 9 because you can eat outside. If you're among the first to board, you'll have time for lunch before the "reservations scramble". If you want to book Palo, the Spa, or Flouder's Reef, you'll want to get to these places fifteen minutes or so before they begin taking reservations. If you're boarding early, you should have plenty of time for lunch before having to do this.

On our 8/25 cruise, boarding started around 12:30. Normally they start taking bags by 11:30 but I'm not sure as we got there about 12:15.

Your luggage will most likely not be in your room. They try to point everyone to the lunch buffer and discourage anyone from going directly to thier room. They say the rooms will be ready by 1:30 and your luggage will arrive by 6:00 (but usually much earlier). We did go directly to our room around 12:45 after we boarded. Our cabin steward had just finished our room. We took a quick look around, dropped our carryons and headed to the lunch buffet.

Our luggage arrived by 2:00 with the exception of one item that did not appear until 5:00. When I unpacked the tardy bag, I discovered it had been searched as my corkscrew and lighter which had been packed in my dap back were loose in the suitcase.

First thing to do on the ship is either eat lunch or go get in line to make spa or Palo reservations, depending on what you want to do.

What time do they usually start taking Palo reservations (or should I say what time should you get in line)?

On the Magic, they usually start at 1:00pm. That is, they usually say they're going to start at 1:00pm. They take reservations right at Palo. Apparently, it's done differently on the Wonder, but I've only ever sailed on the Magic, so I can only speak to that.

We usually hit the buffet, and then at about 12:50pm, I just run up the steps from deck 9 to 10, and get in line for Palo reservations. They've almost always (3 of 4 times) begun taking reservations by the time I get there, but I have always been able to get the reservation I wanted by showing up right around 1:00pm. The whole process takes only about 10-15 minutes. Then its back to the buffet for more shrimp!

My understanding is that on the Wonder, they take reservations for Palo at one of the clubs, Wavebands, I think, and there is a different line for each night of the trip. I don't know at what time this begins, but I'd assume it would be early afternoon. With only 3 or 4 nights but the same number of passengers, I would think that reservations on the Wonder are a bit tougher to get.

Has anyone had any difficulty dropping off their carry on luggage, etc in the stateroom before heading to the buffet? I plan on being at the port early and really rather not drag bags and a case of beer around with me during lunch.

the case of beer can be checked in and brought on with your luggage - i understand we are allowed to have them checkin 2 items per person besides whatever we carry on -am i correct?

I thought I read a while back that you were no longer allowed to check beverages. I'm so happy to hear that, I can just imagine the site us pulling a case of beer everywhere we go.

I'd like to know this also.

If the room is not ready.... can you or is it ok, to drop your carry on luggage in the stateroom?
