Boarding Group questions

I've been practicing joining a boarding group for ROTR every morning at 7:00 a.m. I haven't seen the ability to join a boarding group for Indiana Jones. What time of day are those boarding groups released?

Also, what is the general time frame for each boarding group once it's been called? I hope that we are lucky enough to get a ROTR BG on our DL day in July, but what if our call time is right when we are going to our Blue Bayou lunch reservation? How long is the BG window?

Thanks!

Can’t really answer all your questions, but when I was playing around with the other day, I saw that Indians Jones virtual queue had gone live around 10am and was boarding groups 1-5. But I think it changes each day.

If you have a dining reservation the same time as your BG, take your receipt with you to go check in after and they’ll let you board.

The boarding group window is an hour long. The time flip varies day to day. It doesn’t start until the queue reaches a certain point. On Monday it flipped over a little before 9:30.

I believe I heard that Indiana Jones is only open to join a boarding group for those that have gone into Disneyland, not available pre park hours like RotR to practice. It could have changed but that is what I believe I heard a few weeks ago.

That is correct. The ride also typically reverts back to standby only around dinner time.

I've been playing with the app as well keeping an eye on the virtual queues, and I noticed around 10:30am (haven't checked at 10am), Indiana Jones is always open for new BG reservations, staying open for quite a bit of time. Of course I'm comparing that to the RoR, within 30 seconds of it opening at 7am and 12pm it seems they run out of reservations. Spiderman seems to run out just as quick as well.

What I've been wondering, and I'm not sure if anyone here would know, how are you able to make the 7am reservations if the park does not open until 8/9am?

Indy doesn’t open the boarding groups until the actual ride line reaches a certain point. The VQ for that ride is for line management. So most days it flips over between 9:15-10am and stays open for close to 2 hours. The ride also switched off of the VQ before the end of the night and goes back to standby.

Edit: for the 7am drop is utilizing a mix of your park admission and having a park pass reservation.

1-5 seconds. Sad to say, the RotR and WS boarding groups run out in 1-5 seconds. Not 30. This is why there's whole threads about whether to click over at 6:59:59, pull down to refresh at 7:00:00, wifi or data, etc. I haven't yet had a successful practice run for a 7 a.m. RotR BP, though I've gotten through once at noon-- sometimes they last a bit longer at noon, due to everybody trying for WS.

Also, as dina said, if you have reservations and park tickets for the day you're trying at 7 a.m., the app will automatically find and select those valid tickets for you. Before quarantine, you used to have to be scanned into the park to join the virtual queue, but now as long as you have tickets and reservations for that day, you can do it from home, your hotel, the esplanade, whereever.

Got it - thank you both for the clarification!
