I'm eating at BlueZoo in February and would love to hear reports about it. :) Has anyone been yet?

I cannot wait to hear a report too. I hope to go this summer. This restaurant has promise, but the web site does not say much. Please let us know how it is!

Just wanted to post to say your Ferries Bueller reference was not lost on everyone! Great one! Wheres the Blue zoo? Is it new? I havent heard of it. Anyone...anyone...class?

hi:wave:

i haven't been on the boards for quite a while:o have i missed something, what is bluezoo can someone explain please:D

eve

We were there a week ago today. It is a beautiful space and I think it will be an excellent restaurant when they work the kinks out. The food was good, the service not so good. Todd English was there that night cooking and working the crowd in the dining room.

We love Bueller! We even named our DD Sloane after Sloane Peterson!

Hee - glad to hear there are other Ferris fans out there. :)

SSneezy - what did you have? Do you remember what was on the menu? Poor service because of the server's attitude, slowness in the kitchen, both?

Sorry for all the questions, but I'm such an anal-retentive planner, the lack of info on this new restaurant is driving me bonkers.

OK people, now were just dating ourselves. Can you believe that the 80s are now considered RETRO!!??
Quick, name your favorite quote from an 80s movie!
16 candles-- "Yo babe, nice manners"
Breakfast club-- "Make me a turkey potpie!"
Better off Dead-- "I want my 2 dollars"
Pretty in Pink-- "Blaine? Thats a fat girls name"

Your turn!!

Spinal Tap- Our drummer died in a rare gardening accident!
Another drummer died from spontaneous
combustion!

Johnny Dangerously-" Fargin Eyeshole"

:rotfl:
Midnight Run-- "I got two words for you 'Shut the @%#& up' "
About Last night-- "No Dan, we were bowling partners"

My family and I ate at BlueZoo the second night it opened. We did not have a great experience and will not be going back. They were obviously not catering to the family crowd. Our party consisted of 6 adults and 3 children, the youngest being 16 months and in need of a highchair. When they took us to our table, they had placed 9 adult chairs. When I told them that our 16 month old son could not sit in that chair, they indicated that they did not have any highchairs (I'm not sure why they didn't just tell us this when we checked in with the hostess). At that point, I said that we would need to eat somewhere else and then they said they would find us something. They did produce a highchair within 5 minutes. I think because there was only several tables filled, they did not want to lose a large party.

Anyway, while the food was good, the portions were very small. All three adult men in our party ordered the filet, and they were not at all full when we left. I had the chicken, and it was also very small. The bill, however, was quite high. We have eaten at Shula's, Yachtmen's Steakhouse, Le Cellier, and Flying Fish all several times, so the bill was not unexpected. However, we have always felt that our dinner portions were adequate to the price and have left these places full... sometimes stuffed.

Maybe things will change as they are open longer (such as having highchairs available), but we will not be returning unless I hear many favorable reviews. By the way, the service was outstanding, but again, we were one of only 3-4 tables occupied.

Sorry to be so long getting back to you MHopkins2. We both had the grouper- me with the crab/dijon sauce, my husband with the lemon, garlic something sauce. Both were outstanding. The wine list is extensive and the appetizer menu was the most difficult to make a decision on. I had serviche (sp???) and it was great. My husband had stone crab and had to send them back. Bland was the word he used. Server took it off the ticket w/o a word. Our server tried really hard, he just didn't seem to know the menu or the wine list, or how the flow of a dinner should go. I don't think my husband's complaint about the stone crab rattled him, maybe that was it, but it seemed from the moment we sat down he was really nervous and kept stumbling over his words. We sat for long periods where nothing was happening. I don't like feeling rushed out of a place but this was really long. The menu I think is on Todd English's web site. It is really heavy on fish and everything looked really good. I think you will enjoy yourself.

SSSneezy - thanks for coming back to the thread. :) It sounds like your waiter may just have had new job jitters?? At any rate, the food sounds FAB and I *love* ceviche --> YAY!

 I'm sorry! I wasn't trying to show you up, I promise - I'm just really anal retentive about spelling! ::yes::

Good to know the seviche was good. I was there last weekend, but just to tour the place and read the menu.

The host at the desk took a call during the time she was answering my questions and she was through in explaining to the caller the restuarant's limitations where children are concerned. There are no high chairs or booster seats (probably quickly borrowed one from another restaurant for the above poster) or children's menu. She politely made it clear that this restaurant is intended for adults.

Honestly? I was pleased both with the restaurant and the menu. The prices were to be expected and it is refreshing to have someone bravely step forward and say that WDW needs to provide an adult's only experience.

I also honestly have no problem with a restaurant at WDW deciding to cater to adults only. We also stopped by the night before we ate there and actually talked to the hostess and reviewed the menu. We had 3 kids in tow (including our 16 month old) and indicated we were curious about the new restaurant and menu. She highly encouraged us to return and "give them a try" before we departed. She did, however, neglect to inform us that they do not have highchairs. I did ask about a children's menu and she indicated that they did not have that (neither does Shula's, but they do have highchairs in case there is a need), so that in itself did not discourage me from trying it out. I do wish that I had talked with the person you overheard discouraging others with children from visiting. None the less, it wouldn't have changed our overall impressions that the portions were not worth the price.

Wow, excellent, and adult only restaurant.

As far as portions go...most restaurants serve so much food, it is obnoxious. No room for dessert. maybe now...we can enjoy all courses without feeling stuffed..lol.

Now, only if Tchoup Chop would take on this adult only idea for the dinner hour...all would be excellent.
