so the wife has never eaten at Blue Bayou and really wants to try it out. We will probably try and do lunch on our last day. When is the best time to try and get a reservation. Is it like character dining and I can do it now?

Thanks

The Blue bayou seems to be making a come back in having good food again which is nice to see. It is one of the most popular places to eat so if you are going in a mid- to high-peak time then I would certainly make reservations on the early side. I would also request a table by the water, or atl elast have them make a note that you would like a table by the waterside.

I got a seat by the water by having a reservation for the first seating at lunch and getting there about 15 minutes early

If you are unable to contact Disney to submit an advance reservation would suggest you arrive at Blue Bayou early on your last day to put in your lunch reservation. This would also be the time when you would submit your request for a table near the water if this is what you want. Enjoy

I agree with Indiana Scott. 1st seating at lunch (11:00am - I think) and get there at least 15 mins early.
Have fun, relax, take your time eating and enjoy the atmosphere.

The first seating begins at 11:30 am. If you really want a waterside table, you can request it but may have to wait up to an additional hour. However I should note that I have had seats in various other locations as well and I have never been dissatisfied with the atmosphere, even when I was stuck sitting by the kitchen. It was still a beautiful place to have a good meal.

I love BB but have definitely been disappointed in the atmosphere a couple times. Wait the extra time for a better table. We were once put on the outer edge with half the party looking out at the bayou but constantly having wait staff member squeeze by behind them and the half of the party staring into the bathroom entrance. (There should not have been a table there in the first place!). Others have shared a similar frustration with a "bathroom view" so do request waterfront and be willing to wait. It can be a magical meal for sure, so it's worth the wait!

My reservation last summer was for around 1:20, and even though we (3 adults) were sitting far from the water, we simply oriented ourselves to be facing the water and that made the ambience absolutely lovely. We were not near the bathroom though - I definitely would not want to sit there.

Well unless you need to use the toiety of course, then it would be very convenient. ;) No......really! :faint:

Yea id rather not stare at a toilet. I checked all the days were there and this is the earliest time available

We like to go 1 or 2 in the afternoon as the Blue Bayou is the nice sit down meal for the day. Your wife might also like Carthay Circle. Our new FAV!

We were just there on Thursday and had an 11:50am ressie for lunch. We got there at 11:30 so we could request a waterside table. They told us it would be an hour wait, which we were gladly willing to wait for.......5 minutes later we were seated:cool1:

We had an amazing meal with amazing atmosphere.....BB is one of our favs at DL.:thumbsup2

How is the food at Blue Bayou? How is it compared to Boatwright's Dining Hall at WDW PO Riverside? I'm interested in dining there when I visit in October. Do you recommend lunch or dinner?

There was a wall (or perhaps a moveable screen) blocking the view down the hallway to the restrooms, but it was removed several years ago.

I was there for a late lunch/early dinner last Tuesday, PS's for 4:40 for the F! reserved seating. I asked for waterside, and was told 45 minutes extra wait. They called me in 25 minutes. :) Also, they gave me a pager, and told me I could hang out in the shops outside, as long as I didn't go too far.

Ya they usually always say it's an hour wait and I've never actually waited an hour for waterside seating :) it's worth the wait though! I only eat there off the dinner menu though (filet mignon is the best!!)

I had the filet mignon a couple of months ago and it was surprisingly really quite good. Cooked perfectly and great flavor. The sides were even good -- scalloped potatoes and green beans. Hopefully, they will be able to keep it up.

If you like seafood, order the Surf and Turf during one of your next visits. That meal really is delicious too. It used to be served with mashed potatoes, then it was switched to the potatoes augratin. I like both, but not the switch. I had forgotten about that change in menu when I had ordered. So, when I received my meal I had asked about it, and was served the mashed potatoes too. It was kind of funny because I was debating with my server if I should eat the cheesy potatoes or take them with me. We agreed that they taste best when first hot. Hey, what can I say, I managed to make room. :)
