BLT - Top of the World - Rented Points

It did for us...and was among the many reasons we decided to purchase BLT this weekend.

A word of warning, TOTWL and viewing area are not guaranteed to stay open, the ownership of that area has changed.

Currently the lounge is owned by the BLT association and leased to Disney. BLT owners are responsible for all of the upkeep and costs associated with the property, insurance, security, utilities, staff who lets you in the elevator.

About a year and a half ago it was owned by Disney and they decided that they didn't want it anymore. After BLT sold out, strong rumors were that they were thinking of closing it. Since access has opened up to all owners staying on property, attendance has increased and Disney currently decided to keep it open, my guess is that there is a profit number that they want to hit and as long as it's making them money it will stay open. All sales proceeds belong to Disney and not the owners.

Among the many reasons. I'm well aware that the member privileges and offerings are subject to change.

I am glad that you are but my guess is that most buyers don't read the POS or DVC Home Resort Rules and Regulations prior to buying or even after.

For some it's a major shock when Disney places a restriction or changes a rule, policy, point requirement, or ads on a $95 booking fee.

I have stayed at BLT 4 times. Two of those times we chose to visit TOTWL. Both times we went straight from our rooms, did not bother to return to the lobby to go up. We were members staying on points, so we were allowed to be there. Didn't realize they were actually so strict about checking. Guess I learned something new.

You were lucky the lifts are not supposed to allow you to do that

Does anyone know if you need to make reservations? And if so how? It doesn't seem to be on any of the dining options.

It's not a restaurant it's a bar with a viewing area. They have drinks and some bar type finger food, no reservations required, open to DVC members staying at WDW.
