I just got the okay from DH last night to invite 2 friends with us for my birthday and NYE at BLT and get them a studio room. This morning it was available LKV so I asked them today if they would like to come and if they could afford airfare ect... they were both excited so once I got the okay I went to book it and all 3 categories were sold out. :headache:

I did WL it and I am hoping it comes through. I WL the whole week. The only 2 days not available are 12/30 & 12/31. Would I be better off booking 12/28 - 12/30 WL the 2 days that are unavailable and booking 1/1 -1/4? I am nervous about the other days booking up and then having to have all 7 nights come through if this makes sense, anyone have this situation?

Thanks
Denise

:) If that is when I wanted to go and I had my heart set on it, I would book what I could then see if I could get a DVC or AP discount and pay cash for the other two nights. I would then WL the two nights. So at least I would have all my nights booked and ready in case the WL didn't come through. I mean NYE in WDW might be a once in a lifetime trip for some folks and if it were me I would just fork out the cash and hope for the best.

Do you think I should book the 2 ni before and after and WL just those 2 nights? I have a hard time believing it will not open up with it being this early on - but who knows.

I think your odds are pretty good for the WL to come through since you are so close to the 11 month booking window.

Classic 'you snooze, you lose'. I really can commiserate with you, but, New Year's just about the most difficult night to book. When you saw it was available, you should have jumped on it. I've read enough anecdotal stories of a room being available and then disappearing as you push the 'enter' button!

Here's hoping your wait list comes through!

Absolutely! It's much easier to get a couple of nights than try and get a week in one go. I would do as ToddyLu suggested and book the nights that are available, waitlist for the nights that aren't and try to book the ones that aren't with a member cash discount or if nothing else thru CRO. The cash nights can be cancelled if your waitlist fills and I think there would be good odds of that happening.

The reason I snoozed was because I will be borrowing all the points for this ressie and I was not about to book it if our friends said A) we cannot afford it because that is a possibility or B) Would be a hard time to get away or C) thanks but no thanks. I wanted to make sure they were BOTH on board since they both are divorced with late teen kids at home.

It is all good I called MS booked the available nights and WL those 2 nights. I am not going to do a CR as the air and park tickets are going to push their budget, I will wait and see. I cannot do the air for a few months anyway probably after the 7 month window so we will know more then. Good news is I only had to borrow 47 points to book so if the WL does not come through it is not a huge amount of points. Worst case they do not end up going or they bunk in with us in the 2 bedroom for 2 nights on the pull outs.

Thanks for the responses
Denise

I think booking the nights you could get was a good move. Otherwise, all 7 nights would have to come open at once for your waitlist to fill. Now only 2 nights do.

BTW this is the most I have ever had to call MS for 1 reservation (booking Dec) I had to call everyday to add on then decided I did not want STD room, now this WL and EVERY SINGLE CM I spoke with was very nice, efficient, and could not be more helpful!:thumbsup2
