Hi! Booking a last minute trip in Oct. (5-12)- of course this is over a holiday, so I think prices are slightly higher. Therefore, we are contemplating a studio for our family of 4 (my girls are 6 & 8) - will we survive a week in a studio? Otherwise we are thinking of staying off sight (Windsor Hills) and then doing 4 nights at BLT - thoughts? Thanks!

DH & I stayed in a studio for the first time in May and it was very tight. The living/bedroom space was jammed with furniture with very little room to walk around.

I honestly couldn't imagine another 2 people in the room.

IMO, the DVC studios are intended for singles or couples, maybe a couple and one small child.

And the BLT studios are noticeably smaller than other DVC studios. Personally, I wouldn't do it with 4.

Two of your family would be sleeping on a sleeper sofa the entire time. Not always the most comfortable place to sleep.:(

With a 6 and 8 year old I think you'll be fine, a long as they have no problems sleeping together.
If your girls were teens or older I'd agree with the pp saying no.

Yes the BLT studios are smaller, but I think the monorail and MK access make up for it. This is my preferred place to stay because I can easily get to any other resort for dinner from there. You can also see the boat paegent at night and see the fireworks from MK.

There should be two additional chairs and a table in the room with the sofa and you have more room in the kitchenette(it's actually its own room) at BLT. Give it a try.

We stayed in a studio at BLT last summer. Our kids were 7 & 9 at the time. It was a little cramped, but we were only there 3 nights. We loved being able to walk to the Magic Kingdom.

We loved BLT and would suggest staying there to anyone...having said that, IMO the BLT studios would be too cramped with 4 people. DH and I stayed in one last month, there is a sleeper sofa that your kids could sleep on but walking room would be very tight. As others have said I would agree with the thought that a studio is for a couple or a couple with 1 small child....4 people might be overkill :rotfl:. I guess if you were very determined you might be able to make it work.

just the fact that you are staying at bay lake tower and can use the monorail and transportation system over rides the tightness of the room. 4 can fit and being in disney is way way better then staying off site and having to drive in. That is just my opinion of course:thumbsup2:thumbsup2

Thank you so much for the replies! Like the above post, it boils down to space vs. convenience. Since this is out first trip and I'm sure we will spend majority of our time at Magic Kingdom, I think the location might trump the room. Appreciate all the help!

Like others have said, and opinions do vary, my DH and I stayed in a studio this past January as we went w/o the kids and I wouldn't have wanted any more than just us 2 in there. Too tight for our tastes. :crowded:

use to say it was too crowded - but since then heard from some DVC members who I have meet and respect their opinions - they are families of 4 and did fine at BLT.

so guess like staying at a value - it is attitude.

now if you ae paying cash - might look into renting a reservation - it would have to be from someone who had the reservation = as most of Oct is gone from DVC points.

otherwise you would need to go thru Disney

I beg to differ. It has much more to do with the kind of space you are accustomed to and how close to each other you are used to living and also, how long you'll be the and how much you'll be in room. If it's all you can get then yeah, you can make it work. And you can do "fine" as you say. But I don't think it's fair to say someone has a bad attitude if they don't want to be tripping over each other in the rooms.

since when did I say it was a bad attitude.

the attitude you have is yours and NO one else. So don't put words in my mouth.

some people expect the values to be just like the deluxes and moderates only smaller. they are in for a rude awaking. If you expect this you will be disappointed.

at BLT if you expect the size of the CR room - then you will be big time disappointed.

lots of people who though they needed a big area to be happy in this economy have learned the hard way - it is who you are with and in a place you love that is more important than the size of it.

You certainly insinuated it by saying people who's opinions "you respect" did fine, that others that didn't think it was enough room didn't have the right "attitude".
I've stayed in the studio, the 1 and 2 bedrooms and at most of the moderates and deluxes. I have a pretty good idea of what I want in my room and the BLT studio was more cramped than a moderate room in the living space. Four in a mod is a lot more comfortable than 4 in a BLT studio. Experience and opinion, not attitude.
Peace OK? :flower3:

you still don't understand what I am trying to say.

some people will never agree - let us agree to disagree.

Agreed. We did 2 nights there in July, family of 4. We thought it was noticeably smaller than any other DVC studios we have stayed at. For 2 nights, it was fine, but I would not want to try more than 2-3 nights there on a future visit.
