BLT Question ...

I have been able to book our 2010 Thanksgiving trip and we are staying at BLTin a LV Villa!!

I called this morning to change our dates a bit and when I asked the very helpful CM about adding a room request he gave me the standard "just a request, not a guarantee ..." and I told him that I completely understood. I then went ahead with my request for the highest floor possible. The CM stated that there had been a recent memo and that there are no longer LV on the higher floors! What?!?!?! Isn't the entire inside of the "C" considered LV? There are some upper floors there, right?

I finished up my conversation with him and we hung up after everything else was taken care of. I decided to try again with my request and called MS back and got a different CM -- same result! She told me that " a memo was sent out last week and request for higher floors at BLT were unavailable for LV." When I asked for a bit of clarification she was unable to give me any and seemed as confused as me. I thanked her for her time and hung up.

So, has anyone else run into this deliema?

All thoughts and opinions would be greatly appreciated!

that is weird... we are booked Thanksgiving week (20-28) of 2010 in a LV 2BR as well...

I did not add in the possible highest floor request initially but was thinking of calling and doing the same.

I've looked at another thread here showing the possible room views/layouts and you'd think there would be enough.

I wonder if everyone tries to make that same request and they are trying to nix it?

Yesterday, I called and changed our reservation for BLT in early October. 4 night Lake View and 4 nights MK view. I asked the CM to add a request for highest floor possible on both reservations and the CM had no problem adding the request.

Not sure if this makes a difference or not, but we're only staying in a studio.

I was also planning to request the same high floor view of the lake. I plan to call tomorrow to add a day to my November/December ressie so I'll post how I make out.

I keep thinking that it must be a mistake and will try again for the request. I wonder if the memo was about "Standard View"? I know that all of us "obsessed (DHs term, not mine) DISers know the layout backwards and forwards but I would suspect that CMs at MS wouldn't be as interested.

I recently made a reservation for BLT LV and requested an upper floor. I called MS this morning to check on this issue. The CM checked it out and said an upper floor can be requested, just not for a standard view.

It could be, but it kinda makes sense if it's about LV also. I mean, if everyone was requesting high floor LV villas then obviously not everyone's request could be fulfilled. I doubt there are many (if any?) people that request low floor villas. Maybe someone had a high floor request and checked in when only lower floors were available and made a big fuss? Still disappointing since there shouldn't be any problem noting something on the reservation, they should just make clear that requests aren't guaranteed. I actually wanted to add this request to my res for next summer, maybe I'll try later and post here what I come up with from CMs, maybe like you said there was just some confusion among the CMs when you first called and it was cleared up afterwards.

They do, which I also don't understand, but I have read on here about people who are upset that they made requests 11 months out and didn't get them and were really upset, feeling that requests made that far out should have been honored.

Personally, and I know this is probably not a popular option, but I don't think that Disney should allow people to request, at least not until check in. If you are pre-assigned a room that you don't like, then you can ask to be changed then (but not by taking a room that was pre-assigned to someone else).

Obviously, during full occupancy times, this would be tough, but let's be honest, no one wants the dumpster view room at VWL that I have read about and someone is going to end up with it. Same with higher floors at BLT--everyone who wants one won't be able to and this system leaves some very happy and others not.

I go on the premise that sometimes I will get what I want and sometimes I won't and that in the end, things should balance out.

well would request low floors - but only get standard and that solves that problem....
