I think the drawing is simply trying (and doing a poor job) of accounting for the curvature of the exterior building. They look pretty similar to me…. Maybe 98% similar….

IMO the quality of materials used during the construction of BLT was disappointing and is probably a key factor in how tired some of the rooms look. I am hopeful that the refurbishment will use better materials and that the resorts appeal will be boosted.Even when we were looking at resale about 5 years ago BLT looked like a clear winner and still is. It has a reasonably long expiration date. The dues are low. The price is fairly low. The point chart is considerably less than the grand floridian and polynesian. And its even more convenient for the magic kingdom than those 2. At the time I was ready to buy grand floridian resale, but took a 2nd look at BLT and the views and point charts won me over.
I've seen similar comments posted a couple of times and I always think "compared to which DVC resort"? BLT opened in 2009 - which of the other DVC resorts have faired better from a "materials" perspective? I ask ,because in my experience they all start to look quite shabby at about the 10 year mark (even when a soft good refresh has been done).IMO the quality of materials used during the construction of BLT was disappointing and is probably a key factor in how tired some of the rooms look. My only regret is that…I wish we'd bought more points.
I would love this! So would my 7 year old, who is fascinated by Walt’s story.I saw a rumor today in a BLT Facebook group that the remodel is going to lean heavily on Walt/Roy imagery and tributes to them. Heavy on the rumor but apparently a CM said it (and as we all know they are so reliable). I would be ecstatic if it is that and not the Incredibles like the Contemporary. Fingers crossed they get this right!
We could use more points and this would sway me towards picking up BLT resale points to complement my existing tiny 100 point contract versus anything else I think.
Nothing says "contemporary and modern" like two guys born in 1901 and 1893, respectively.the remodel is going to lean heavily on Walt/Roy imagery and tributes to them
Better that than cartoon superheroes.Nothing says "contemporary and modern" like two guys born in 1901 and 1893, respectively.
Sure, they definitely lean into the aesthetic in the movie. I just personally dislike the look of a fair amount of Contemporary room makeover (not the furniture itself, but the superhero costume plastered on the closet, the Edna Mode pillow, etc). The furniture itself is great. Perhaps a toned down version of that in BLT would be just fine.I don't know. The Incredibles have always had that mid-century modern vibe:

I don’t even like the movie The Incredibles, so would be extra bummed if they brought that theming to BLT. I am a mid century modern furniture fan though. Walt and Roy lived in the mid-century modern period, so personally I think either would work. I'm really just an Incredibles hater.![]()
agree. the modern look captures BLT the best too.I don’t even like the movie The Incredibles, so would be extra bummed if they brought that theming to BLT. I am a mid century modern furniture fan though. So hopefully they continue with that vibe.
I can't remember if both were lockoffs or one was a dedicated 2br (in the image posted). The BLT studios are small and feel even smaller because of the kitchenette. Unless my group really needed a second entrance to the villa (e.g. early/late adults on the studio side) I'd think hard about a 2br LO over a dedicated at BLT because of losing that space in the 2nd bedroom. And as for the inside/outside of the C, the inside of the C gets a laundry *room* and the LR feels larger because there's no (edit: stools at the) center island. I like that there are lots of options, and we've never not gotten our room requests - we never ask for a specific room but we've always gotten our requests (even # room, high floor) (For a standard view, 2-3 x it's ended up being one floor below the start of TPV in the center of the C, which is pretty awesome). To be clear, dedicated AND lock off rooms on the inside of the C are the same shape, and dedicated AND lock off rooms on the outside of the C are the same shape.
They’re not different based on room type, they’re different based on location, a non-reservable option.
I am really hoping WDW and everyone who's there comes through the next few days ok. (as well as everyone else in Milton's path). I have friends in Tampa whose homes were flooded with Helene and they were about to start remediation. On the plus side - it's just property damage, and they were already out of the house because of Helene, and they don't live in Western NC... on the minus side - because of the flood damage to the 1st floor of the house, one friend hopes that they have a house to come back to. So I'm alternating between obsessive storm monitoring and making posts on here that pretend the hurricane isn't coming ... stay safe, everyone.because it is just basically one steel framed building with not much in the way of surrounding grounds that need to be maintained. I would guess that's going to come into play big time in the next couple of days.
Really, no center island?the inside of the C gets a laundry *room* and the LR feels larger because there's no center island
