BLT looks a bargain?

It's possible, but it would likely be with a stripped contract, making it kind of like using Magical Beginnings. Missing a year or two of points for a lower price. And that may not be a terrible strategy if you find one, especially if the price goes up a bit soon.

But you have to have someone list it somewhere close to that price to start, and most brokers know it probably shouldn't be that low with the MK expansions coming and the refurb starting
Just in my use year there are a few 130s and 120s list. I'd say a mix but partially stripped. I personally speculate list prices will bottom out in the next few months as the fall into winter historically does which may get selling prices close to my target price. It's also possible that those on the fence may sell because they may not want to deal with a whole year of construction. But yes I would like to add on here more than even our first love Poly because the proximity to MK along with what I think will be a beautiful refurb should make it very desirable again. The next few months will be a strike while the iron is hot type situation with BLT resale. All in my opinion of course.

I have 75-100 in my sights, but not much out there in September (really don’t need for over a year for vacation in over 2 years away), but would be a bummer if it went back up to $150 after refurb.

BLT is definitely a strong option resale. It’s more points per night than like an SSR or a BWV but it’s got a longer contract and, to some, a preferable location. It’s also less dollars per point to purchase than the other MK resorts.

Just realize that the points you used are standard view, and while there’s a lot of standard view at Poly and a decent amount at VGF, there’s not a ton at BLT (especially as a % of studios). You will probably wind up in a lake view room unless you’re fairly aggressive about booking quickly. So that’s probably the better comparison point.
The points I used were based on BLT Lake View, VGF Lake View, Animal Kingdom SV, Riviera Preferred and Poly Tower preferred.

I'd add on a few more at that price too! lol. Though I don't think it will get there. 120ish has been the best recently, and it may spike up a bit after the refurb finishes and people realize how bad the new Poly tower charts are
FWIW - we got our most recent BLT resale at 110 pp with full 24,25,26 points, closed in June 2024. I’ve seen one at 107 pp since then - passed ROFR in August I think.

I see that on the pricing tool. $110 for a ton of points. Nice job! I bought a smaller contract at $112 around the same time. Other than stripped contracts, we may not go that low again on BLT.

It is your contract that has given me hope lol. In all reality I would take your contract with the loaded points rather than waiting for 100 but nevertheless I think it's a possibility in the next few months.

Agreed - we aren’t in the market for more points anytime soon but I’ve been watching the ROFR thread to see how low it goes and if/when they start exercising ROFR.

Probably more fair to compare BLT Theme Park View to AKV Savanah View. That will yield a bigger delta. Most premium view of each resort that way.

Fair point. I picked the views at the resorts I like… not a fan of the fireworks/car park view at BLT.

BLT trades at a discount to other monorail resorts because of the lack of theming. The rooms are nice but can remind some of a chain hotel vs others that have more of a distinct vibe.

I think it's a great value. There is a ton of theming at the parks and staying at a Disney property the biggest perks in my view are transportation and ADRs. BLT does well here.

Pools for an off day may not be as nice as beach club.

My DW veto'd BLT due to the theme. Value per point on the spreadsheet wasn't as compelling to her as it was to me.

I was looking at booking a couple weeks at a number of different resorts at Disney World. I picked the resorts based on my preference. My home resort is BLT. Looking at doing at split stay in a 1 br. I thought it would be a good idea to do a comparison of the points I would need for the same 2 weeks at other resorts. First time I have done this and I was surprised by the results. For Animal Kingdom I would need 7% fewer points. For the other resorts I would need far more points, ranging from an extra 27% at Riviera to 32% at VGF.

My thoughts are that the premium required for the more expensive resorts isn’t really justified when you compare them with cash rates. I would also argue that Animal kingdom should probably be cheaper in points terms compared with BLT.

My conclusion is that based on this limited sample BLT looks a bargain and hopefully a good refurbishment will spark additional interest for BLT on the resale market.

I would compare a BLT lake view more like a RIV standard (at least based on the rooms we have gotten). But yes, BLT is a good deal these days, especially when you look at what resale prices you can get. We own at both and I think you do get a better room at RIV.

The inconsistent rooms are the deal breaker for me, at least right now. The differences in square footage between the smaller and larger room formats have got to be 15-20% on some room categories. And they’re not bookable categories, and honestly very little information is even published on the differences.

These are not similar rooms!

You can book a dedicated 2Br or a 2Br with a lock off. Some people travelling in groups like the lock off option…we prefer as a family the dedicated 2Br because of the extra space.

I am hoping that the quality of fixtures and fittings will be upgraded after the refurbishment. The original fit out was not of the standard or quality you would expect and didn’t age well.
A good fit out could see a surge in the popularity of BLT. You can’t beat the location.

Didn’t realise quite how different they are… the dedicated appears to give much more space! Or is that an optical illusion?

To be clear, dedicated AND lock off rooms on the inside of the C are the same shape, and dedicated AND lock off rooms on the outside of the C are the same shape.

They’re not different based on room type, they’re different based on location, a non-reservable option.
