Blowing bubbles? yes or no

I LOVE when a person is polite enough to ask about something, gets replies, then says that they will not do xyz and people continue to lecture that person. It really makes others want to ask questions too.

I think that most of the so called lectures are not directed to the OP at all, but to one (or two) posters who mades comments that were, shall we say, unpopular or controversial.

You are absolutely correct, the OP asked a perfectly innocent question received answers and replied that she would not be using bubbles to entertain her child. The continued discussion is simply the product of an open discussion on a public forum. People will continue to discuss and voice their opinions. What is wrong with that? The Disboards is about more than asking a question and spitting out the official Disney rule, policy or description.

The thread will have a life of its own until either people lose interest, or it goes so far off the rails that it gets locked. Such is life on a discussion board. I'm not sure why you have a problem with that. But maybe you were just making your own observation or voicing your own opinion long after the original question was asked and answered?

If you are sensitive to bubbles you should skip MVMCP because the "snow" on Main Street is made out of a bubbley type substance.

Come to think of it... does it "snow" at the Osbourne Lights Show?? Better not chance that either... just to be safe:thumbsup2

As far as people with allergies go, those people should probably be in a bubble themselves.

You were okay until that. Totally rude and uncalled for. Just makes you look bad to make comments such as this.

Sometimes I think that all people do on these boards is sit around and wait for soemthing new to complain about. Bubbles? really? Disney produces bubbles themselves! I have the greatest picture of my DD running around in front of the train station through the bubbles. Do people really walk around WDW, the "happiest place on earth" being annoyed by things that other people do? I would love if I was next to you while we were wating for a parade or a ride and you brought this out. You can not walk around being worried that you are going to offened someone because if you read these boards long enough you're going to be scared to do anything!

They do it so you can come here and complain about people complaining.

Blow bubbles where there is space or at your own family. Do not do it in areas where other people are crowded together in a small area and can not escape what you are doing. It is simply rude to spray, spill, or blow stuff on another person without their implied consent.

As for the CMs using it... I have never seen them point it at someone and spraying them with it. It has always been in areas where people can easily dodge the bubbles. The ones in the door ways have always stopped as people have approached to enter the shop.

As for the attractions that use it... by going on the attraction, you are accepting what happens on the attraction. You have given implied consent to be hit by bubbles (I think Muppet Vision has some). When you are line, you shouldn't have to expect someone to be rude enough to blow bubbles on you.

All bubble-blowing babies will be beaten senseless by every able-bodied patron in the line :rolleyes1

I think someone could very wealthy inventing a clear plastic shield that would completely protect the sensitive from interacting with the outside world at all. Shoot, they could make one that fits over strollers and ecv's for the Disney crowd.

Ok - I had no idea that it was going to turn into such snark. .....
So unless you just want to add to the snark, the question has already been asked and answered and I don't know how to delete this thread.

Perhaps a Moderator could help you close out the thread? I am sorry that your honest question generated so much... well let's just say... middle school antics.

You can't delete a thread. I saw this when it first popped up and figured it would explode even after you said you wouldn't on the first page.

Simplest thing to do is unsubscribe and just walk away and avoid reopening the thread.

Hopefully it will fall off the first page and just fade away.

Nm, I am going to delete what I wrote.

It is beneath me to single out a certain poster and be rude.

As long as you keep it to open areas where people can avoid them, I see no problem. But I consider it to be a no-no in lines, theaters or rides.

Ok - I had no idea that it was going to turn into such snark. I have already stated (on page 1 I believe), that we will not be blowing bubbles in line. The reason that I originally asked the question was because there were people blowing bubbles in the dumbo line (which is outside) the last time I was there and the parents were all happy with it (or seemed to be). It occupied a lot of cranky toddlers. Like I also stated, I didn't consider the allergy/health part of it because no one that I know or no one that I have EVER been around (with bubbles) has had any problems with bubbles. I appreciate those who politely explained the allergy/health situation without having a fit and using sarcasm and snark. Thank you, you are the kind of folks I would like to meet at Disney world. So unless you just want to add to the snark, the question has already been asked and answered and I don't know how to delete this thread.

Original post:
Can we take bubble guns in to play with while waiting in line? Does it aggravate you when kids are blowing bubbles with these things? If you don't know what I am talking about it is a gun that shoots out a lot of bubbles at once for lazy people like me who do not want to manually blow bubbles.

OP the thread has taken on a life of it's own, it belongs to the masses now;). Nice to see you've acknowledged the input of the posters in the thread who took the time to explain:)

well put:thumbsup2

ratio of public space to number of guests is one factor in determining the enjoyment factor in cruise ships and I would think also apply to amusement parks. Repeatedly having to dodge bubbles certainly doesn't help that equation.

We all know bubbles can be unpredictible in their flight, even those well intended to aim/curtail their path could accidently nail somebody in the densely crowded parks who is allergic to the bubble compound or even worse in the case of the poster here who referenced how bubbles could deteriously affect her eyesight!:sad2:

It's easy enough to goof re the dangers of bubbles, but once you are educated (i didn't know either before this thread:guilty:) there is no excuse to be so callous, especially at the 'happiest place on earth'.

Oh my, the horror of what I said! It is the truth. If someone has allergies that bad, that if the rare case they get hit with a bubble, they should have preventative measures. I'm not talking about a bubble landing on someone and they get a little itch. I'm talking about a serious allergic reaction. These people should be ready for the worst case senario.

BTW - I do have allergies, so I can simpathize with people with allergies. But if your allergies are that bad, why risk it? Bring protection.

If only protection always worked (theme parks and otherwise but that's another thread aimed at population control lol). Talk to somebody whose kid has a peanut allergy as to their objective to be proactive vs reactive. i'm so glad none of my kids has to deal with that nightmare.

BTW for those of u who scoff, u don't always know when you have a life-threatening allergy. Sometimes it takes repeated exposure to the trigger to manifest and then it's quite unexpected. I have three allergies i didn't develop until my 30's (latex, bees and amoxicillian). I've been cautioned that benedryl and an epipen could only be a stop-gap issue until medical attention is received.

I never knew so many people hated bubbles with such a passion, nor did I know they were so lethal.

This thread has taught me something about bubbles. Wow.

I also think its taught some of us about how "fragile" some people have become.. It's silly.

They wouldn't have to bring protection if people had manners or were considerate.

Holy entitlement Batman!

Actually if you look at the child population now, more children than ever have allergies and chemical sensitives. This correlates with the increase in pesticides and water pollution and air pollution. As a child I rarely knew anyone with allergies, and now, it seems every child I know has some form of something. If you ask your pediatrician, they will verify that the more chemicals we use in our daily lives, it's the children who pay the price and become more sensitive.

I also think that years ago kids with allergies just didn't make it past a certain age.

There is a problem with blaming chemicals though, most allergies are food related. The top ones being wholesome foods like milk and eggs.

My wife and I think its too much sanitation. If you are not exposed to things early you can't build up a resistance.
