What? So we should also get rid of Haunted Mansion with the murderous bride, too? And pirates? They aren't appropriate for children either. That auctioning of women? Scandalous!!

Just because two people in your family didn't enjoy it, doesn't mean it's time for a change. If you want to play that card, well then I hate Dumbo. Get rid of it, I say!!!

You can rant and rave at me all you want, but it doesn't change the fact that the majority of M K visitors skip Country Bears. I'm sure the decision to shorten the show has to do with low usage, not the song. And yes, it s tacky that Disney hasnt ever bothered to spend the money to update pirates. Cheap not to include Elizabeth from the movies. It all comes down to dollars and Disney won't make any changes until finances force them to update attractions. I'm thrilled about the Fantasyland expansion! It may give us a reason to return this winter.

Remember, not every Disney has been going for the past 20 years. Not everyone will love the attractions you've loved for years.:hippie:

Yes! I hate that ride too...and the teacups.

Yeah but my point is that just because you don't love it doesn't mean it's bad and needs to be torn down. As someone who has been going every year for 38 years-- all the years of my life-- I will also add that as a child I never spent too much time analyzing the lyrics of the songs played in CB. Kind of like old 80s songs. Loved them as a kid, but didn't know what any of them were about til I was an adult.

i'm shocked there are so many so-called walt disney world fans who have never bothered walking in country bear jamboree and had no idea what the bears were singing about...the show has pretty much been the same since it opened. yes, there used to be a christmas show (that one had horrible audio the last 3 years it was run) and they did the "vacation" show for a time, but the lyrics have never changed. it's audio animatronic bears singing bluesgrass/country songs from the 50's and 60's. type in the titles on you tube and you'll find actual artists singing the same songs...wait, most of you don't know the titles of the songs...:confused3 sure, it's an older attraction that doesn't have a line, but it's one of the first things i think of when i think of the magic kingdom.

i would love to take this thread in a different direction and find out what you guys think of the jungle cruise...

If this comes to pass, it is one more step closer to my losing it. A group of self-rightious, humorless, political correct dictators will have once again taken over control of what we chose to see or hear. But, of course, they are right and they are only protecting us from ourselves, fools that we are.

As parents they don't have enough parenting ability to teach their snowflakes how to decern right from wrong. My children first saw that show when they were 7 and 9 years old. That was 30 years ago and they grew up to be strong, solid and productive members of our society. I wonder how that happened? Couldn't have been my influence, must have been Seseme Street.

:thumbsup2 I agree! We took our children all their years home to this show and amazingly it didn't even faze them :rolleyes1 And I guarantee our children were more protected than children today!
A lot of "supposedly good" parents today say things around their children that wasn't tolerated several years back.
Parents let children start dressing very provocatively at such early ages, and just look at preteens, and teens today at the mall, etc. - their speech and dress.
Yet, an innocent show like the CBJ sends them into a righteous tailspin :confused3
Why can't they just skip the show if it is so offensive to them for their children and quit trying to police it for everyone?
Wonder if these same people have TV's and radios in their home/cars and never let their children in listening distance of songs/shows that make me cringe. Not to mention the things they say in front of their children :sad2:
Understand I'm not saying things should be this way for children today, but it goes on all the time, and is far worse than anything at Disney.
Off my soapbox :rolleyes1

It's funny what a turn these threads can take!

I think that Magic Kingdom, as well as the other parks, is a family park, meaning everyone in the family will find something they enjoy. It is not a park only designed for toddlers and preschoolers. Yes, of course we have Peter Pan, and Winnie the Pooh, etc. for the little ones, and that's as it should be. But as I mentioned in my previous post, I am now the parent of teenagers. If Disney only consisted of preschooler and grade-schooler appropriate attractions, my family would no longer want to go!

I think it is completely appropriate for Disney to have the Country Bears...and the Jungle Cruise...and the Haunted Mansion...available to those families who want to enjoy it. If your family is too young, or just offended by, these attractions...don't attend them. My children obviously know that while they drive me crazy some days, I would never "shoot them instead." But can we laugh about it? Of course we can.

Just read through this entire thread alot of interesting points. But the NEVER discuss the "Illuminatti and Disney" comment. Is it because it's considered a religious discussion or just a Harry Potter "He who shall not be named" thing? Please clarify because saying it should NEVER be discussed kinda makes it seem like there may be something more to it. I mean i'm just saying.

Your reasoning is flawed. MK is a park geared to young children. The song is no more appropriate there than it would be on Sesame Street. My DH took DS to see Country Bears while the girls and I rode BTMR. Neither he nor DS enjoyed the show. It is time for a change.

Everyone doesn't see it as you or your family does. If you don't like it stay away. All shows are not for everyone - we all have our likes and dislikes - doesn't mean it should be done away with.
I don't like Space Mountain, but I sure wouldn't wish it gone - too many other people enjoy it.
Everything seems to be about "me'ism" instead of realizing we are all different, and enjoy different things.
And, I disagree completely. MK is about the "inner child" in ALL of us - and yes, our children thoroughly enjoyed the CBJ, even though yours didn't :confused3
Monorailmom, I agree totally with your post!

I love Big Al. He may not be for everyone but that's fine. Just go ride one of the mountains again while we cool off at CBJ.

I didn't say get rid of Pooh. There were legions of people waiting to get on that awful ride. It has huge sentimental value to some even though it is an awful ride by any measure.

Country Bears was a ghost town. No wait. No one even standing on the porch to get out of the sun. Don't need an analyst and a long term study to tell you there is something wrong when an air conditioned ride geared to young children has no line in July. C'est la vie. Things change.

Wow, does someone have a bee in their bonnet today? Now, you're attacking Pooh  "an awful ride by any measure" - excuse me, but I think it's by "your measure" only. I  that ride and I'll not see 60 again;)
So again, if you don't like it, get rid of it huh? :confused3
Yes, everything is geared to children there, and guess what? My inner child is very happy there ::yes::

Just to clarify... I liked the show and i'm taking my wife and kid back tonight so she can see it. Btw It was full when I saw it. Well almost. :) I just thought it was an odd song.... yes I saw the show 20+ years ago and don't remember it. Must not have phased me any...

Disturbing. DH and DS went to Country Bears while the girls and I went on Big Thunder Mtn. Beyond bizarre that this sound would be apart of a kiddie attraction!.

Since when is CBJ a kiddie show? WDW is for all ages, not just for kids. I like that there are attractions with inside jokes and that are a little over kids heads.

The Magic Kingdom, as well as the majority of Walt Disney World, is geared toward *families*, not just young children.

DS saw the CBJ several times when he was little and wasn't at all bothered by the songs. He was more perplexed by the heads on the walls than anything.

Years ago when my parent's and I stayed at the Disney Golf Resort (now Shades of Green), I begged my father to buy me a stuffed Big Al because I thought that song was so funny. Alas, I gave it away when I went to college.

 Your bonnet must be full of bees since you ignored my statements. Again, it is all about money. Pooh, awful as it is, has strong sentimental value. Plus, there are always newbies who have no clue how bad it is. Country Bears on the other hand is not a big draw.

Basic marketing folks. Companies spend a great deal of time and money analyzing what sells and what doesn't. Disney won't get rid of One mans Dream because of the negative connotation associated with removing legacy of Walt. Country Bears isn't widely known outside of diehard Disney folks. Disney is free to change it with minimal backlash.

MK marketing is overwhelmingly geared towards young children so I can't believe that is even a point of contention.

Sorry, MK is for kids of all ages, as is all of WDW. Why else would adults without children go there and actually enjoy it? AND, go back again and again?

Parents who think "Blood on the Saddle" and "Little Buford" are inappropriate for kids - you do realize these are the same kids singing endless choruses of "Great Green Globs of Greasy, Grimy Gopher Guts" on the playground every afternoon, right?

But alas, "Little Buford" and "Blood on the Saddle" is your bone of contention...ah, the hilarity in redundancy.

But it does sell....and sell...and sell...

I knew about the Country Bears before I went to Disney

I for one can't stand the Bride in Hauntd Mansion...so ....I ..justclosemyeyesrealtight
