my 2 and a half year old sings the whole show...he lines up all of his toy cars and pretends that they are the bears. even has the stage set up correct and moves henry to the right spots! i should put that on youtube :happytv:

Proof that Disney is not just for kids ;). In my 8 WDW trips we have never gone to this show until last time. Our group was 5 adults and this was our faces at the show  did they really just say that . It was the topic of conversation for the whole day :lmao:. I can't say we will go back for more just not worth the time but it made quite and impression on all of us.

I stand corrected, but still, in the context of the show I honestly do not think of it as a problem for kids to see or hear. Unless they are living in a protective bubble or if they are a bear, I doubt it has any influence at all other then entertainment. :confused3

I suppose you are correct in one sense...I have been seeing the show since I was a child. :lmao:

But I can certainly see how it makes folks go, "huh?" in the modern era.

I'm sure I always thought that the songs in CBJ were written specifcally for the show by Disney, but that's not the case - at least not for most of the show. Given the context of variety shows of the era, the whole thing makes more sense.

I find it a particular hoot that the song, "If You Can't Bite Don't Growl" was a popular song before it was in the show. I can almost imagine the imagineers planning discussion, "Oh we HAVE to include that song!"

Agreed. I saw the show as a child, and I had no idea what the lyrics meant. I was more into the idea of talking, singing bears playing instruments!

Well, drat. CBJ will be closed for refurb during our trip. I was going to pay more attention this time!

Looks like they are talking about cutting out part of the show, including Little Buford.

If this comes to pass, it is one more step closer to my losing it. A group of self-rightious, humorless, political correct dictators will have once again taken over control of what we chose to see or hear. But, of course, they are right and they are only protecting us from ourselves, fools that we are.

As parents they don't have enough parenting ability to teach their snowflakes how to decern right from wrong. My children first saw that show when they were 7 and 9 years old. That was 30 years ago and they grew up to be strong, solid and productive members of our society. I wonder how that happened? Couldn't have been my influence, must have been Seseme Street.

I loved that show as a kid in the '90s. Didn't even remember the Big Al part of the show. I remembered the bear, but not his song. And I surely didn't pay attention to nor care about the wine in her glass. To me wine was just another drink for adults, the song had no connotations.

If your kid is at an age where they'll understand what's going on in that song, chances are you should probably have already had the alcohol talk with them.

Here's a real indicator of change, back in 1971 Country Bear Jamboree was an E-ticket attraction. Now you never even see the theatre full.

Seriously?? That's been part of my memories for so long!!! One of my dd's favorite things to sing to me!!! This is not going to be pretty if they take that away!!!!
I've about had it with the whole 'political correctness' movement. I find it to be completely offensive!!!!

Your reasoning is flawed. MK is a park geared to young children. The song is no more appropriate there than it would be on Sesame Street. My DH took DS to see Country Bears while the girls and I rode BTMR. Neither he nor DS enjoyed the show. It is time for a change.

Some things stand the test of time and some don't. My family and I hated the beloved Pooh ride. :confused3. Not everyone will enjoy classics that others hold near and dear to their hearts.

ROFL!! i didn't read any of the posts but when i saw this thread i had to laugh and comment. we LOVE that song! we sing it all the time - and yes, it has been there as long as i can remember.... blood on the saddle (boing!) blood on the floor (twang)! :lmao:

So, by your logic, Disney should get rid of Pooh?? I'm sorry, but that's just silly. No, you don't have to like or enjoy an attraction. But that doesn't mean it's time for that attraction to go. I think AstroOrbiter is a huge waste of space. But, that doesn't mean it's outlived it's usefullness.
Country Bear Jamboree is a classic. I would say it has pretty much stood the test of time...it's still pretty well attended whenever I'm in there.
Political correctness has gotten out of control. No ones sensibilities are going to be offended if they hear any song in there. And if you find you don't like it, then don't go back. But I really resent the implication that because there are some people that might be offended by something, that I can no longer enjoy it.
Personally? I'm offended by sushi...I don't see that going away any time soon....:thumbsup2

I didn't say get rid of Pooh. There were legions of people waiting to get on that awful ride. It has huge sentimental value to some even though it is an awful ride by any measure.

Country Bears was a ghost town. No wait. No one even standing on the porch to get out of the sun. Don't need an analyst and a long term study to tell you there is something wrong when an air conditioned ride geared to young children has no line in July. C'est la vie. Things change.

What? So we should also get rid of Haunted Mansion with the murderous bride, too? And pirates? They aren't appropriate for children either. That auctioning of women? Scandalous!!

Just because two people in your family didn't enjoy it, doesn't mean it's time for a change. If you want to play that card, well then I hate Dumbo. Get rid of it, I say!!!

Disturbing. DH and DS went to Country Bears while the girls and I went on Big Thunder Mtn. Beyond bizarre that this sound would be apart of a kiddie attraction! This kind of stuff is what keeps the Illuminati stuff going about Disney. The serpent symbol on the magic cards doesn't help squash the Illuminati talk.

I was shocked that Stitch was apart of the opening show! Stitch? Really?!!Old, violent cartoon. Why does he get top billing? Seems like Buzz or Woody would be apart of the opening.

Are you for real?!? :lmao: :lmao: :lmao:

The Illuminati is much bigger than a Disney conspiracy. However, given the nature of what it is, I believe it is against the Disboards rules to have a discussion about it. For those curious, look up Illuminati & Bilderberg and you'll find your answers.

I don't think it is. It's not religion, or politics - just simply world domination.
