Block Texts???

Hey all, can you block a number from sending you texts? We have verizon and get annoying texts from an individual. Can we block them so their texts don't come thru? How? BUT we'd still need to be able to receive calls from that number just don't want the texts. Thanks for any help you can provide.

I think with Verizon its all or nothing when blocking a number.

If you signed up for texts from a company but want to opt out of the texts you can reply "stop" and they should stop, but if it is just an individual I don't think you can just stop texts. On Verizon,com you can block numbers but that would be for both texts and calls. Maybe call Verizon just to be sure.

I'll second the pp I think Verizon is all or nothing. Just log into your account and you can block the number. Why would you want to get calls and not texts? Can't you just ask them to stop texting you>?

If it strickly an annoyance issue and not a money issue and you have a smartphone, you can try using one of the 3rd party text message apps to simulate the effect of blocking. For example, in Handcent for Android you can "Blacklist" a number. If someone on your Blacklist e-mails you, Handcent stores the message seperate from the other messages but does not notify you of the message. So, unless you look at your blacklisted messages, it's as if they never sent it.

I think Verizion only allows you to block a certain number of phone numbers, and I think the block is only good for a few months.
