We are preparing for our vacation at the end of June that was postponed twice from last year. We are planning at least one Waterpark day and possibly a second half day. Has anyone been there with the new protocols and have any tips? For example we know mask aren't worn in the water but are required in lines etc. What was your experience moving from. One ride to the other? Any tricks for keeping your mask for when it is needed or do they have disposable masks available? Is the towel service Any different? We originally consider getting a Polar Patio but the cost for what you get the day we were going seemed too high. Any tips are greatly appreciated! Thanks

I haven’t been there but a friend has and shared a lot of their experiences.

Masks are not required in the water, on slides or in lines for the slides. Basically they kept theirs in their bag unless going for food, shopping, using the restroom/change room and on the way in and out of the park.

Masks are not provided that I am aware of.

Towels are still available for resort guests as they were in the past.

You will encounter a lot of people unmasked due to the situations above. Just something to be aware of.

I browsed around but all I could find are protocols at the parks and resorts but nothing much on water parks.

Does anybody have any idea what they are?

Someone on another thread posted that at BB, once you cross the bridge (over the lazy river) to the "island", masks are allowed to be removed. but going back over the bridge, cast members will ask you to wear masks.

Disney’s Blizzard Beach Water Park is now open. As a reminder, Disney’s Typhoon Lagoon Water Park remains closed at this time.

Like the other areas of Walt Disney World Resort, we will welcome back Guests and Cast Members to Disney’s Blizzard Beach Water Park in a responsible way, with a plan focused on health and well-being. Disney’s Blizzard Beach Water Park is operating in alignment with the health and safety protocols implemented throughout the Walt Disney World Resort, including reduced capacity, temperature screenings, physical distancing markings and face coverings. Face coverings will be required for each Guest age 2 and up, including but not limited to, at the park entrance and exit, retail areas, and food and beverage ordering areas. Face coverings will not be permitted while experiencing water slides or in the water. You may also remove your face covering while actively eating or drinking, but you must be stationary and maintain appropriate physical distancing.

At this time a park reservation is not required to visit a water park, however, reservation requirements are subject to change. Water parks are subject to rehabilitation, seasonal, weather and capacity closures.

My biggest tip, is to get there right at opening and head to the left and find yourself a couple of lounge chairs in the shade. Those fill up very quickly and that sun is so strong, that on your breaks you'll want to be in the shade. Also, they have the most amazing little donut holes, filled with raspberry filling with chocolate dip at a donut kiosk. Holy cow. Its worth going to BB just for those.

We were there on Saturday. We arrived around noon. We had no problem finding lounge chairs, and all the slides were walk ons. We finished all slides and Castaway Creek around the park by 3pm. They ask that you where masks when entering and exiting the parks, in food lines, when renting towels, in the locker areas, and when using the bathroom. You do not have to wear a mask when in line for the slides. They no longer cram multiple families into one tube on Teamboat Springs. Loved having our own space! I actually found the Blizzard Beach day to be our most enjoyable experience while we were there. No lines, and it was nice break from the masks in the Florida humidity.

This might be a dumb question, but where did you stash your masks? We're going to be there at the end of May and I'm trying to figure that part out!

We each had a quart zip lock bag. We placed our masks in the zip lock and folded our towels over them when we left the lounge chairs for the slides. We held our spot with our towels and sandals. I rented a locker to store our phones, sunglasses, and my purse.

Two questions about going to Blizzard Beach:

In a thread from 2019, it said resort guests get free towel rentals. Is this still correct? Or do we have to bring towels from our hotel?

I feel dumb asking this, but there's a place to shower off and change back into regular clothes, correct? The idea of riding a bus back to the hotel room with a wet bathing suit on under clothes sounds like a nightmare, but, likewise, trying to change in a bathroom stall sounds nasty. So, are there changing areas like at my local gym/pool?

Resort guests still get free towels and the showers and locker rooms are still open to change and rinse off when you're done.

This might be a dumb question, but where did you stash your masks? We're going to be there at the end of May and I'm trying to figure that part out!

I got a cheap waterproof phone pouch ( $4 from Marshalls) and stashed masks in there - super helpful to have a way to wear it rather than hope we didn't lose a ziplock back that we stashed in our suits.

You will not receive complimentary towels at BB…we have used pool towels every time we visited BB or Typhoon Lagoon from our resort.

I received complimentary towels at BB on 4/13, and we were staying at BCV (DVC member)

We went first week of April soon after opening, and it was our best day of the whole vacation. You only needs masks in the outer ring of the park--not once you cross over the bridges. Everyone seemed to be safely maintaining distance and it felt very safe. Rides were basically all walk-ons all day long.

If you order from any of the food/beverage kiosks, you will need to be wearing a mask.

Just wanted to note that this is correct - Disney resort guests receive free towels. This is an often overlooked amenity, but it’s super simple/convenient for resort guests.

If I'm reading everyone's responses correctly, they have towels to rent but if you are staying at a Disney resort, which we are, they are complimentary. I was hoping this was the case as I don't want to have to bring towels if I don't need to.
